I'd recommend using CV2 for bosses, as it's much faster than CV1 (three times as fast to be exact). CV2 also has the projectile launcher which can massively help in creating a boss. It's also possible to create custom i-frames for your boss. Make the trigger volume ignore a role, and once someone gets revived, give them that role and take it away after a few seconds.
Great tutorial! When making the lock, I realized the trigger volume doesn’t have the arrows on the side; and using the chip board “players list” I couldn’t connect them.
That would be due to you using the CV2 trigger volume instead of the CV1 trigger volume, which works differently than the CV1 version. There’s definitely a way to get that to work… but for this tutorial you’ll want to use the CV1 version 😅
So I’ve been trying to play Rec room lately, but it takes me to an orange screen that says I need to update before I can play the game, but my vr doesn’t say I have anything to update. I’ve tried deleting it and reinstalling it, as well as restarting my vr, but neither of those worked. Do you have any idea how I could fix it?
I’m having trouble with the door. I think ive done everything right, but for some reason it’s not transitioning from the first state to the second when all enemy’s are defeated. Is there something else I need to add? Otherwise, good tutorial, this helped a lot!
Hey there! In my experience I've found that state machines can cause some trouble such as what you're going through for seemingly no reason on occasion. First, be sure that the boolean chip sending a signal to the state machine is working normally (all inputs have a value of 1 and it gives a signal of 1 once all enemies are defeated), and if that's not the issue, try making a new state machine with new parts - no cloning. I know it's a pain but for some reason using cloned states and/or state machines can cause issues like these so if nothing else is working try starting from scratch again. Hope this helps, at least a little!
You can easily do so by editing the main role each player has by configuring it - there's a ton of options you can change, some of which are what holsters(side, back, both, or none) you want to give your players. Hope that helps!
No worries! When you make a custom room, there should be three chips that spawn in that can't be deleted, one of which should say "everyone" on it. Those are role chips, and by using the configure tool on the "everyone" role chip, it will give you a ton of options, one of which should be left hip, right hip, and back holsters. You can enable those and that should do the trick!@@Farmalyxxx
This might be a dumb question, but i can't find any good tutorials apart from this one. What about the ink usage? I would think you take the players to a different subroom, that way the ink meter resets, but when I go to a different subroom, it ends the game. How can I change subrooms mid-game without ending the game?
I usually use a door at the end of each level/subroom that players can open and go through to the next subroom level once all enemies are defeated. Or you can use the method where a large trigger zone activates a door to the next subroom. Hope that helps!
@@JonsTheWizard Yeah, I use the door at the end of each level, but when they go through to the next subroom, it just ends the game. Any idea what this could be? Am I missing something?
Not sure. You could try to reconfigure the door to check that it teleports everyone at once, and configure the game rules chip and double check its game status settings. If it’s ending the game once you’re in the second subroom, you could see if there’s any “set game state” chips you forgot about, and also check that’s subrooms game rules chip. Sorry I can’t help more 😓
Yep! All you’ll need is a Game State Chip and a Sampler. Simply wire the Game State Chip’s “Pre-Game Started” blue output to the Sampler’s “Play” input. Then, as soon as someone clicks “Start Game”, the sound on the Sampler will play.
when i start the game, it spawns me in the first level instead of the armory even though i have when game starts connected to the respawn point in the armory
Assuming your Armory is its own subroom, just make sure that the door is set to the right location - but if it’s an issue with spawn placements that’s giving you trouble, be sure to configure only one of them to be “during game”, which is where everyone will start in that subroom no matter what. Sorry if that doesn’t help much 😓
I wanna make a quest called “the monstrosities of robots” it’s like the rise of Jumbotron, but different with 2 mini bosses and with red screens, and even there is a Easter egg which is a skeleton from isles of lost skulls that has a sword, and a real boss level which is the “Fiasco robot” not Jumbotron cause he’s already dead like 185 times
Sounds like a fun concept! If you need help with setting up your Fiasco Robot boss, I also published a basic boss tutorial recently that could help. Can’t wait to see what you make!
Unfortunately, there isn’t any way to do that like in the RROs - you *could* have each player choose a load out with CV2 and then have it saved to a cloud variable which then chooses which weapon to give the player at the start of the game, but the much more simple and easy method that’s used is to just have a bunch of weapons at the start of each level for players to pick from. 😬
Easy peasy - all you have to do is repeat the process from adding the second wave by wiring the Boolean (and) chip to all the enemies in your next wave and then have all of those connect to another Boolean chip. You can repeat the process and make as many waves as you want!
First, make sure you have your team spawn points set up properly - including configuring at least one of them to “during game” - and then if the automatic door teleport thing is giving you too much trouble you can also just have your players click on the door themselves. Hope that helped!

Creator of "RevengeOfTheKing" here. This helped me make the game as good as it is right now. Thanks.

Which type of setup is used in RecRoom quest games?
The RRO quests use the setup where all players are instantly teleported when the game ends, and have the game automatically start in all levels.
