when my dog was a 8 weeks i took her to the vet every 3 days to get her weighed she got s treat there everytime and the staff love her so now anytime she sees we are going shes the happiest girl

I thought dogs knew locations based on smell
They remember. Especially if they had a traumatic moment, or a moment where they were severely afraid or upset there. Same can be said for the groomers too if your pet doesn’t like it there. Think of it like how little kids may not like going to the doctor or dentist’s office. They WILL remember when you either pull into the parking lot or walk into the building.

It’s amazing how they know where they are. My little dog always does and starts crying as soon as we enter the parking lot even though she’s really never had any terrible experiences at the vet. ❤

Dogs can read to a degree, that and we aren’t the most emotionally reserved creatures on the planet and dogs have grown over the time we’ve been man & friend to understand our vibes.
@@tyvernoverlord5363 I see what you mean by a "degree". To this situation the dog recognises the sign, road, building. I dont think it knows what is written on that sign. Dogs start to associate words to their meanings like a human baby. If you switch no's and yesses like if your dogs says something bad and you say YES, and vice versa to no, it will learn it backwards.

We've had six dogs, 5 schnauzers and poodle/cocker, and none of them were nervous or scared to be at the vet.

I’ve had 2 mastiff mixes and both love the vet. They just love friends, pets and snacks!
I literally had the same experience with my mom taking me to the clinic for immunizations before pre-k. She told me we were going somewhere else, then we pulled up to the clinic. I told her I would stay in the car and she told me that we were going there for her and not me and I believed her. She took me for ice cream afterwards. I STILL feel the hot sting of betrayal 20 something years later. LOL! Not cool, mom.

My mom would bring me, promising that it was only for a regular checkup because it was "required to keep insurance coverage" and there wouldn't be shots, then they would give me more than one shot in that visit alone. Happened more than once. She got McDonald's for me afterwards. I am thirty and still don't trust my mom.

I wont say my Sheltie liked going to the vet, but he just took it in stride. He would amaze the vet staff by hopping up on the scale and sitting down and waiting for them to say "OK" and they would go nuts over him cause most dogs put up a fight.
