Hey guys, I'd suggest checking out Portmeirion, great little place with a cool history of how it came to be and was the set for a 1960's TV show 'The Prisioner' 💙🇬🇧👍

I suggest a place just a short distance from Llandudno, the town of Conwy. A magnificent castle overlooking the Conwy River and the UK's smallest house.

Go to South Wales, the Brecon Beacons, Pembrokeshire and Hay on Wye, the later being the town of second hand books, famous throughout the world. ,lots of other places to visit too. St. David's , the city and cathedral of our patron saint. Abergavenny, Brecon, the Gower coast, and so many other places

      @David030180 ปีที่แล้ว

I would also recommend South Wales, drive some of the crazy lanes into the mountains of Brecon Beacons if you have a car, not the easiest of roads to drive but really cool scenery and quite an experience. And also Hay-on-Wye, the amount of bookshops in a small town is crazy and some of them are big. Cinema Books for example, you wouldn't think it from the outside but it's like a great big library inside.

There is so much to see and do around here. Go to Betwys-y-Coed and visit swallow falls ans the fairy Glen. Walk along the estuary at Borth Y Gest and take the Steam train from Blaenau to Caerarfon. Drive on the sand at Porthmadog. VIsit Gellerts grave at Beddglert. Visit the Italian village of Portmeirion. Go to Llangollen and drive up the horseshoe pass, catch the steam train or take a canal boat trip. Take a calan boat trip over the Froncysycllte aqueduct, take the train up Snowdown....the list is endless lol just bring a raincoat the weather is very changeable!

You need to visit Portmeirion which is a folly tourist village in Gwynedd, North Wales. It was designed and built by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis between 1925 and 1975 in the Baroque style and is now owned by a charitable trust.

Llandudno is my hometown. I lived there from birth until I was 36 but I'm still only a few minutes' drive away. It's incredibly beautiful. The North Shore used to be lovely and sandy - I remember donkey rides up and down the beach when I was a child. The rocks are there now for "sea defences". Terrible decision! Apparently, Lewis Carroll met Alice Liddell in a hotel on Llandudno's West Shore when on holiday, which is the connection. The sequel to Alice in Wonderland was also inspired by several Llandudno landmarks. My maternal great grandparents are buried in the graveyard on the Orme and it's such a beautiful and tranquil spot. I'm so glad you enjoyed it here and hope you come back!

I would recommend the coastline of Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire. The Gower Peninsular was the first Area of Outstanding Beauty in Britain and is where I am lucky enough to live. Castell Coch is a beautiful castle to explore and lastly, St Fagans national museum of Wales where you can spend the whole day popping in and out of ancient buildings which are furnished in the period they were built.

Don’t know if others have mentioned it, but you were only a short bus ride to Conwy, which is a really interesting and lovely old walled town/harbour, with one of the best castles to explore in the UK. Definitely recommended for your next visit to the area.

Criccieth in North Wales was my families holiday destination and I'll always love North Wales because of those memories. I'd recommend visits to Harlech, Caernarfon or Beaumaris (on Anglesey) Castles, a ride on the Ffestiniog railway, a visit to Portmeirion and a trip up Snowdon.

  • @markjones127

Llandudno has two beaches, the rocky North Shore where you were and the stunning sandy West Shore beach which is by far the better of the two beaches, it's on an estuary where the Conwy river meets the sea so the tide goes out an awful long way, I live a couple of miles from Llandudno and love running around the Great Orme, it's bigger than most people realise as a full lap is 5.5 miles, glad you enjoyed it though, Llandudno is a lovely town. I'd highly recommend you go to Llanberis in Snowdonia which is at the foot of Snowdon, the highest mountain in England and Wales, there is a train which goes all the way up to the summit so I think that would be amazing for you to do, unfortunately they don't allow dogs though, but I love the Mountain Railway, it uses a rack and pinion track to literally pull the train up the mountainside, there's also a café at the summit which cost £6M to build so you can have a cup of tea and a cake when you get to the top!

I can’t believe you went to Llandudno! I’m from London, but my grandparents were from Llandudno so I have spent half my life up there. It is one of my favourite places in the world! We scattered my nan’s ashes on the Orme, & we had a memorial bench installed up there in her name, which we go & visit. I have always adored the pier, the trams & the cable cars. And I’ve had some lovely meals at Home Cookin’! If you ever go there again, have a meal at The Cottage Loaf. It’s always been my favourite place there to eat. I absolutely adored experiencing Llandudno through your eyes. Thank you for going there ❤️❤️

Llandudno is probably one of, if not the most favourite places of mine in the UK. I spend a week there once a year - there's something about it that just chills me out. I'd retire there if I had the money. So much to do. If you come back at any point, you should check out Happy Valley, an amazing park and gardens on the slopes of the Orme, you saw it from the pier.
Shame you couldn't do the cable car up (or down) the Orme, that's an experience, and the views are spectacular - but as you found it's very choosy as to when it wants to run, or not.

Funny, we were there a couple months ago. Bin many times, but 1st time on the toll road round Orme. Fantastic views on stopping places. Half way there was a cafe with ample room away with bench/tables so you can have a picnic with your own food. Great end to the day in a car trip as it loops back to Llandudno. Cost, £5.

North Wales is my favourite part of the UK and one of the most memorable spots is the walk up from the NT car park to Cwn Idwal, It is absolutely stunning. Llechhwed slate caverns make for an interesting tour and of course take in the views from the top of Snowden (if the clouds let you) - the steam train is a lovely way to the top if you don't fancy the climb. I will also echo the glowing praise for Conwy and its castle, which is delightful.

In case people don't know, the Great Orme is a big rock that sticks out into the sea next to Llandudno (it has a neighbour called the Little Orme). Among the things that live on it is a colony of wild goats, and during the Covid-19 lockdown, when all the people were indoors for a few days, the goats took advantage to check the town out. There are some funny scenes, as if from a comedy horror movie, of the town being infested with a gang of goats eating flowers from people's gardens and generally nosing around.

The dog friendly cruising boats around puffin island are also great to do if you get a chance.... Family run and owned boats and great information about the local sea life

Aww so nice that you guys came to North Wales! I’m not too far from Llandudno. So glad you enjoyed yourselves! There are so many other great places to explore in the area.

It's so lovely to watch you two. Just spent the afternoon searching for TH-camrs trying British food and not one of them ventured out of London. PLEASE tell your fellow TH-cam nomads to get out and about.
    Love your videos.

I just travelled to the UK in October. I got to tour around Scotland and Ireland, but I could not fit in Wales, sadly. I can't wait to get back and see where my paternal grandfather came from in North Wales (Cymru) and brought my surname to America!

Try the steam trains at Ffestiniog and also take a tour of the old slate mines. Portmerion is good - best on a sunny day when you can admire the buildings

Grandparents and Aunt lived there for years... very hilly for their age though - flat right across from the Orme tram.
Llandudno was cool though, good amusement arcade on pier and good road links on the Expressway to Manchester and the North West.
