The problem is that the later stages got so intensive that the wii-mote would frequently lose synchronization with the bar on the TV, which made you have to pause, resynch, then unpause. Which was lame. You couldn't even 'spam' at that stage because if you were desynched, holding the wiimote at an angle could have it just going vertical instead of horizontal.
What do you only have one motion adapter? Cuz if so man that sucks for your family. Luigi’s mansion is the best game in my opinion cuz it allows me to psychologically torment friends and family.
