My first time travelling to the USA was an eye-opener! I was struck by how big everything is-huge roads, massive portions of food, and endless store variety. The friendliness of people really stood out too; everyone was so open and willing to help a lost tourist like me. But the most surprising thing? Tipping culture! I had no idea how much or when to tip, and it initially felt a bit overwhelming. Overall, it was an exciting and unforgettable experience!

As a Italian, the portion sizes in the U.S. were mind-blowing! Everything's supersized!

    Portions in restaurant
    Never feeling safe
    Obese people
Warm reception once you somehow connected
Wish them all the best and hope they recognise the whole world looks up to them as a democracy

The sales tax not being included in prices was so confusing! I’d see a price, but when I got to the register, it was higher. Why not just show the full price like in Estonia?

Merchants are better represented in state legislatures, and they like to make the price look smaller to sell more.

Strange things? Pledge of Allegiance in schools (very 1930's Germany vibe). Not including tax in prices. No "PAYE" in the computer heavy 21st Century forcing everybody to do tax returns (now 67 and never done a tax return) Tax industry lobby? Everything is a "for profit" - healthcare and hospitals and life saving medication in particular, tipping culture since they don't pay a living wage. Date format, although they always say 4th of July correctly. Confused by a 24hr clock. College sports obsession. So few professional teams for such a massive country. Actually, the more I think about it, the longer the list gets. 😁
