Nostalgic foods from our childhood is such an immediate dejavu trigger for specific memories. I often eat things that dont even taste that good on paper but for some reason it just gives me a hug.
First of all, that pie looked GOOD! If I lived near you I'd be phoning in a pick-up order right now. I used to do Boboli all the time. I'd use Prego Chunky Mushroom and Bell Pepper sauce, shredded Longhorn and Jack Cheese, Italian Salami and after it was out of the oven, topped it off with Kraft Stinky Cheese and Red Pepper Flakes. I remember begging my mom for Boboli in the grocery store but she never bought them because they were too expensive. If she was making "homemade" pizza it was gonna be Chef Boyardee.
Yea, had those a bunch in the 90s. Always used the smaller personal sized one with the Boboil brand little pizza sauce packets and just cut big slices of mozzarella instead of shredded. But they have changed sizes and shapes over the years. They are definitely a lot flatter than they used to be. But they do taste very similar to the original ones. Also, the Kraft cheese is a must if you have pepperoni it soaks up all the grease and makes it less messy.
Yes!! I still do pizza with Boboli in a pinch. Just standard sauce, mozz, pepperoni, and sawdust! I also add banana peppers and drizzle some Mikes Hot Honey before putting in the oven!
My first job was as a bagger at Farmer Jack in 1988. I still have my FJ Bonus savings club card even though they closed in 2007. Still miss shopping there.
I remember them ... Easy and delicious when I was a kid. I used the personal size (3 in one pack) and made bbq chicken with red onion. I'm going to have to pick up a pack. Thank you for the video
