She's an excellent songwriter and a mediocre poet. This is rather fascinating.

Potential for incredible poetry on the page, though, maybe she should try it again

I often avoid celebrity poetry. Something about it is truly too scripted and empty of anything genuine. Like somebody suggested it as a cash grab and it was slapped together. I will definitely check this one out. Also, newly subscribed! I look forward to more poetry dissections.

100% - it usually feels rushed to me, too. Poetry takes time. Thank you for subscribing!

I thought this was a really interesting take on her poetry. And you are clearly informed on the different types of poetry. Plus each time you talk you always use the word “I” and don’t make it seem like your opinion is the end all be all. I’m not sure why her fans are in the comments peeved. Maybe they didn’t watch the video?

I've always felt like this book has a lot of potential. "LA Who am I to Love You?" is a beautiful poem and she does definately have a talent. But I've always felt like it's too... instagram. She is a very skilled writer, we know that from her musical lyrics (especially with ocean blvd) but it almost feels like she also wants to be this aesthetic poet??? Idk. It's giving Rupi Kaur sometimes

Totally agree! I wonder how much her management team may have rushed this endeavor

I understand what you're saying, but there is clearly a romanization of poets here. Not just questioning whether she is a "poet with a big P", which also leads me to questions of "what is art?" and "who is really an artist?", which I find empty because its quite relative and people always want to see the artists on a pedestal (specially the dead ones), but as well as the fact that there is resistance to her poetry because it was also exposed on Instagram and because she is famous. A poet does not always need to be economically, etc. tormented to be a poet. That's gone and we really are in the 21st century. No shade, everyone has their own opinion tho

I don’t think the creator of this video implied that you have to be tormented to create good poetry, but maybe you just mean in society that is a common practice.

Megan Fox is the latest celebrity to release a poetry book.

Who is the worst? Megan Fox, Lili Reinhart, James Franco, or Bella Thorne.

i really appreciate you doing this review because i’ve only consumed the book’s content as audio via the vinyl. i will admit, i prefer that form as there is music accompaniment by jack antonoff. it’s also available on audible

      I can’t believe I’ve missed this and I feel like that’s all I needed was Lana’s majestic voice 😂🩵

I have a hard time depicting the message in poetry a lot but I played her book on audible while I was painting and i was actually captivated by a lot of what she said. Maybe you should try it that way. Then again the beauty of Lana’s art, be it music, poetry or visuals is not for everyone and that’s what makes it all the more valuable.

This is a great point and I’d love to try out the spoken versions. Her voice is like an angel and it’s probably a whole different experience through that medium!

You say you don't understand it then continues to criticize it. If you don't get it you don't get it critique it. And as someone who read the poems on their on cause It wasn't possible for me to get the book (which is the vast majority of the fans of the book) I thought it was wonderful without the images. And if you are not a fan of her you don't get to critique her work at all. You just make tons of weird moot points of which none of them explain the mediocre nature of the poems. So yeah. if you don't get, don't critique it.

"And if you are not a fan of her you don't get to critique her work at all"
You're so blatantly wrong about this because this is not how art should be viewed. She has the right to express her opinion about poetry, movies, books or whatever whether it's Lana or someone else. You're just proving her point because if it wasn't Lana you wouldn't protect her like that.
