    I've updated my mac OS and the interface I use is no longer supported so the drivers aren't available. I clicked on this randomly. It jogged my memory that I have a XR12 that I isn't being used on either of my two PA rigs. I'm going to set up now after watching this. 👍

    I'm interested in hybrid mixing. It seems like the XR18 should be able to give me 6 sends to feed outboard gear and then allow me 18 inputs for returns. Have you tried this? I can't seem to find anyone talking about that.

    Hey Steve great video, def got my thumbs up and a Sub. One thing I haven’t quite sussed out is can this be an 18 in/8(+)out interface, and if it is fully class compliment (work natively on iPadOS ).
    I have the smaller XR12 and its great unit but, doesn’t work as an interface, so considering upgrading. However I need at least 3 pair stereo out (on USB), within iOS DAW, presuming this will do this (+ more by look of it if has 18 out).

I would like to add some of the XR18s FXs going into the DAW. I just want to add a tiny amount of compression to the vocals going in but as of now it's just straight dry vocals. Wondering what you think about it’s competition (not price wise of course), the Midas MR 18? Looks to be exactly the same thing but with Midas quality preamps.; reckon it’s worth the extra £200?

    What about the latency if you are recording and monitoring at the same time? do the singers notice it in there headphones?

    • @stevesrecordingtips7247
      @stevesrecordingtips7247  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Excellent question!!! The fact is we're monitoring all this from the interface with onboard effects in place. No audio from the recorded source even passes through the Daw unless we want it to (we don't). This means there is no latency at all from the round trip the audio makes in and out of your computer. You're monitoring live, in real time, with no latency.
      Granted, there may be some latency in the interface that may be measurable, but I can't hear it. If I had to guess, it would need to be less than 1ms.
      So, no, the singers will not hear latency.

    I haven't been able to solve one problem for over a year now. The vocalist, guitarist and keyboardist feed the signal to the behringer xr18 mixer from the mixer to the Boss RC505 Looper from the looper back to the mixer and to the main. But if, for example, the vocalist is recording a loop, then the guitarist and keyboardist must not play so that their parts do not overlap with the vocalist's loop. We purchased BOSS AB-2 signal output switches, the principle of its operation is one input and two outputs, when the pedal is pressed, the signal goes either to output 1 or to output 2. We connected one to the mixer and set it to send a signal to the looper, the second to output to the main. Assuming that the signal going to the lane will not fall into the looper. But this did not happen, all the signals fall into the looper. Tell me how to overcome the problem?

    Steve. I can't tell you how much this video just made my day!! I was an avid user and proponent of the Yamaha O1V for well over a decade. Yamaha quit supporting it years ago, but I couldn't see any alternatives. It was a digital mixer with dynamics, Fully Parametric EQ's, and onboard FX, and this could all be used on the inputs and written to tracks if you chose. Then on the back end it was a control surface. with faders, trim knobs, transport controls etc. Plus you could look down and see where you were with it's digital scribble strips. There was nothing on the market like it and I've been looking for over a DECADE!! Well, Not unless you wanted to purchase a $5,000 console, anyway. I Feel that Yamaha really missed an opportunity by not making another 01X, but like a big brother? Like Yamaha 01X-16! or 24, etc. It really was a great product. Now I have the Behringer XAir-18, plus the X-touch and the X-touch extender I basically have that 18 channel mixer/control surface that I always wanted and the total cost was less than $1500, if I remember correctly. At first I felt a bit depressed, I didn't think you could write the compression or EQ to the track. And then I saw this video!! Geez!! I feel like an idiot!! ha ha Thanks again! You just made my day!!

    I’ve only been messing with live sound for 2 years and recording for the last 8 months but this is by far the easiest digital device I’ve worked with. It’s extremely satisfying to click on an input and everything that you would need (eq, effects, gain, etc) appear in front of your face and not having to search across a board looking for things.

    I finally unboxed mine. I downloaded the software onto my Win10 laptop, hooked up the USB, flipped on the X-Air18, opened the software and........
    Hmm......
    So do I HAVE to use an eternity cable to a router if I'm just planning to control this thing via the laptop it's hooked to?
    I'm sorely inept here..... 😢😔

      Nope. The onboard Wifi is fine in most studios. External routers are good if you're in big venues and there are tons of cellphones around.
