This is the greatest interview in the history of baseball. This is the Greatest interview in the history of interviews. Grayson Rodriguez is a national treasure. Grayson Rodriguez needs more money NOW
This is really tricky because there are like 2 teams left that will be wiling to go bigger than the deal Fried got, Burnes might have to sign a 5 or 6 year deal with opt outs.
Mike Elias have mentioned how he wants to make resigning homegrown players a priority like Gunner, Adley, Cowser, Jackson, and Westburg. G rod needs to be on that priority list as well
Congrats, Dodger fan, on a fantastic, Freddy fabulous season! I, too, as an O's fan hope that you'll be able to watch Corbin and Grayson start for the Orioles in 2025.
It's not that nobody wants Burnes. It's that there's only a handful of teams willing to pay a player that much money, especially a pitcher. The Mets, Dodgers, and Yankees are the biggest spenders and they either already spent a boatload of money and/or don't need a starter. Once you take those 3 out of the market, the money available goes down considerably. If those 3 teams weren't active in free agency at the same time, salaries would drop 75-80%.
Totally agree. Plus dealing with Boras isn’t easy and more and more owners and executives are trying to avoid him. Burnes is very good. But his underlying numbers are trending down. His ERA etc look good but there’s more to it then that. I have a feeling boras is trying to get Burnes 300 million or more and teams aren’t interested
Orioles fan since i was age eight in 1979 [please, no recaps needed]. Pitchers that get long-term contracts are usually a liability, and as much as i want to see Corbin return, i would be apprehensive of any deal that was longer than four or five years. Does anyone else see it that way?
@@Mr91Jmay True, it’s very difficult. I see Adley as the only extension candidate although it’s unlikely. He’s coming off his worst season and would possibly accept a generous deal on our end.
@@aaronwitt03 yeah I actually agree there Catchers also still not super likely to get mega deals. Will Smith type deal would be ideal for both parties. Lowish AAV for a decade
When you see these interviews with someone you don’t follow or know because they play on the other side of the country it makes baseball less regional….as a Dodgers fan I’ll now route for the guy.
Pitching injuries in my opinion it starts with little league. They got these 12/13 year olds throwing as hard as they can. Having kids throw breaking pitches. Kids should not be throwing sliders and cutters
Totally agree with your statement . I coached LL back in the 80’s. We Never allowed a kid to throw anything but fastballs. Unfortunately A lot has changed since then
Haha he's from the Dallas area I believe. Locally, here in Maryland, Grayson and Gunnar have a radio commercial advertising a hunting store. We got some good ol' boys 😀
I’m not an expert but I think arm injuries for pitchers is more about pitchers straining their arms too much to get velocity instead of centrifugal force generated by the bodies rotation. That’s what creates the power with boxing, that’s what creates the power with Muay Thai kicks, and it’s why spinning wheel kicks create nasty knock outs in MMA. I think the correlation between innings pitched and arm injuries is the more variable mechanics young pitchers have because they just haven’t perfected their mechanics yet.

I feel the same way. I’d rather allocate that money to extending our young position players
