  • Here's a real, un-staged pre & post night shift routine. If you're looking for one of those wake up perfect with makeup and hair in place "get ready with me" routines, this is not it, lol. I literally grabbed my phone after trying to convince myself to get out of bed for 15 minutes.

    It’s nice to find an RT channel..... I strictly work night shift. I prefer it. Nothing over the counter works for my sleep anymore. I’m on trazadone now and it helps a lot.

      Hey! Yeah night shift can be pretty rough on a decent sleep schedule. I've been lucky so far but we'll see!

    2nd year student here. Was supposed to start a clinical rotation with some night shifts so it was nice to see how people adjust. Unfortunately, here in Hawaii, the hospital I was supposed to go to isn't allowing students back until COVID cases go down a bit. It is what it is. Keep up the good work 👏 😁

    I'm watching this after my first of 5 night shifts. I'm the type of person who comes home and cleans my house and then showers, and goes to bed. Then I literally sleep until 530pm.

    Thank you for this video! I hope I can find a routine too once i start night shifts and I'll be working rotating shifts too. Good call on the black out curtains because I will definitely need some of those!

    Ahh you added my suggestion of B12.
    Actually I use it to help with the natural Melatonin production to help sleep during the day.

    never thought about protein coffee until watching this video! How do you prevent the clumps? 🤔 Great video by the way. I respect all the night shifters out there. I don't know how yall do it

      I put it in a shaker bottle with one of the mixing balls in it. So far, no clumps!

    I loved this! I am not new to 3rd shift, but new to RT school. I would love to see more filling plant based recipes.im trying to incorporate it more into my diet, but I don't feel satisfied and then binge on junk. Love the videos:)

      I totally get what you mean! Once you find the right balance of carbs, proteins and fats for you, you'll feel a lot more satiated! I'm always happy to share recipes 💗

      @@BreatheEasyRRT it's hard when you live a busy life. I know my body and mind does not stop the whole 12 hours.... I need all the caffeine and a balanced diet to keep it functioning.

    Would you recommend respiratory therapy to someone who is introverted? I really want to work in a career that helps others and I am interested in RT but I'm nervous that it might not be a good fit for a shy introvert.

      You dont have to be an extrovert to be good at this career. I'm actually pretty shy in real life and seem to do okay.
      Do what makes you happy and you'll learn to communicate when necessary.
