I was fortunate enough to hear Tommy perform this tonight with the composer present… it brought us all to tears - his gorgeous embodiment of this piece, music of shared pain and isolation during the deepest part of the Covid crisis. Appropriately, Tommy book-ended the piece with perfect meditative silence.
my friend plays cello and says this is his favorite piece to play. as a healthcare worker who’s caught COVID 4 times since starting my career last year, this piece is beautiful. it means a lot. i am currently assigned to sit with a psych patient. he’s incredibly funny, intelligent, and LOVES orchestra and music so i’m playing it for him now. i’m not so good with music so he’s explaining the emotions he feels for each part so i can understand. :)
Just saw and heard this piece performed live by these incedible artists and we are speechless and hope this muisc reaches a very wide audience. We feel privileged to have been there tonight at the Emerald City Music concert!

This is an absolutely stunning piece and played incredibly well. I was able to hear it last night in person in Madison Wisconsin. I want to thank you. This music so incredibly resonates with the existential grief related to this pandemic that we have not even begun to deal with.
