    Miami, your voice is crazy expressive when singing.
    Now we need an extreme vocal recording tutorial, where you deliver toilet bowl gutturals and crazy tunnel throat noises. Through Benson Vocal Strip obviously.

    +1 for an aggressive vocals video. Pretty much what I know is to use a 7b with the vocalist almost right up on the mic with Rvox and a little room reverb. That way I can hear some of the softer words that may not come through as much, but not worth retracking (because we know how naturally dynamic aggressive screamed vocal DIs can be), and to get an idea of what it'll sound like when I compress it later. The room verb is just a little ambience to help give the vocalist more confidence and to feel the music more. They often want me to throw some distortion on their vocals, but I encourage them to focus on getting that distortion from their performance and technique before I add any in the mixing process.

  • @ampstudios
    @ampstudios 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Everything else you mentioned was spot on with the tips but there is absolutely nothing wrong with the Kaotica Eyeball, Not sure if you're being paid to trash it but countless people have used it and it does a great job for what it does, I've been using it for a while and definitely does a great job. I am not a full on singer but that is besides the point. My space is treated and I have captured vocals without it, and they come out nice, and I've used other types of pop filters etc and this by far did the best job along with whatever I did to treat vocals, but it definitely is a DO, but to each their own. And also it helps with cutting down noise from outside too. So there is a purpose for it.

    • @joeymusic
      @joeymusic  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Being paid to trash it? I have integrity. I’m telling MY truth as a vocalist/singing coach/ and producer for over a decade. I said that it holds its purpose in the world of voiceover work and podcasting. You are free to disagree with me, but please, don’t ever go to someone’s channel accusing them of being disingenuous. My words are my own, no one can PAY me to say anything
      -Miami

    • @ampstudios
      @ampstudios 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@joeymusic your truth isn't everybody else truth, you discredited the piece of gear because of your own experience, if that's how you want to word it, and I said something about it. you are involved with the company and doing reviews, so be that as it may, if it was your own experience fine, but that's not always the case when people get online in collaboration with other companies. your attitude about it was a don't and just because it's a don't for you, doesn't mean it's a don't for others. i've seen hundreds of reviews about gear and clothes and shoes and i get the product and the "experience" that person had, the bad experience never showed up for me. so as i said, you just came off as trashing the product.

    It's awkward to watch one private company (JST) disparage another private company's (Kaotica) products. A fully treated room with Genelecs and outboard gear is aspirational; the majority of creatives have to work with what they can afford. Let's focus on the results.

      I AM focused on the results. The results for singing are not very good. It’s good for podcasting and voiceover work (which I mentioned). The day I get up here and start lying is the day I stop making videos.

    Yo Miami, how do you use HBV for tracking without actually printing the FX into the wave form

      By simply not printing them to the track

    I would love to hear Miami do a pop punk version of Fireflies by OwlCity. I think it would be 🔥 and really unexpected. I think it would cross over surprisingly well 🤘😈🤘

    Here's another thing. Make sure you can't hear the click through the headphones of the singer. It's a real PITA to work on.

    I love these videos, however calling a $700 mic, "budget-friendly", makes me die a little on the inside. House, wife, kids AND trying to have decent gear... ROUGH.

      In the world of tube mics it’s budget friendly! There are decent condensers for 300 bucks and under

    That's a $700 mic lol, "real budget friendly" my ass lol. A SM7B is half the price of a K2

      Compared to any other tube mic though from a reputable company?
