Guys my nephew got bit by a spider, a radioactive one, he was gaining weird abilities, what do I do now
I said that to my nephew too lol. I gave him a Spider-Man t shirt and told him in the spirit of this movie. That he could be Spider-Man, Would t work out well for me but hey!
This movie actually won the Oscar for best animated movie, and rightfully so.
Was a nightmare to show in theatres though. We had lots of guests who complained about 3D not working properly, the image beeing out of focus, movie stuttering and 2D shows beeing in 3D (they weren't). All of these complaints were actually artistic choices of the animators, not technical errors.

@@andreasvogler1875 That sounds like alot of Karen's who don't know how to tell the difference between animation styles TBH. This was a unique form of animation and I hope to see it live on. I would be sad if a few theater complaints were to discourage it (which I don't actually think will happen).

Back in the day, characters in comic books were coded by color. Heroes wore primary colors: Superman, Captain America, the Flash, Spider-Man, Iron Man, and the X-Men all have a lot of reds, blues, and yellows in their costumes. Meanwhile, villains got secondary colors: Green Goblin, Lex Luthor, Magneto, the Joker, and Vulture have a lot of greens and purples in their costumes.
Sometimes, this would be subverted. The Hulk is green and wears purple pants, because the public sees him as a villain.
A lot of that had to do with printing technology and costs back then. There are some exceptions like Green Lantern and Green Arrow.
That is true, other than the Hulk who is green due to a printing error. He was grey originally.
Not just in comics but in movies too, especially the animated ones. Just look at disney villains: Maleficent, John Ratcliffe, Frollo... They all wears purple clothes; Scar, Dr. Facilier (and Maleficent as well) they all "have" green flames.
Reverse flash wears yellow and red also but tbh he is meant to be the opposite of the flash.

Don’t feel bad for crying. Movies do that to everybody. I had to sit down 6 days before Christmas and tell my boys their dad had finally passed away from cancer. They knew it was for the best and on Christmas Eve we looked up at the stars and talked about how Daddy was watching Santa deliver presents to everybody. ❤️

17:53 it's always so impressive that when three of them get their spider senses triggered, Peter straight up looks above to noir spiderman because he has his spider sense that much polished and active. Meanwhile Gwen looks a bit left and right and then looks above, and Miles just randomly turns his head and sees spiderman noir at the last. It's an interesting detail how each one of them has got the hang of their spidersense in that order
In the comics at least, Miles' spider sense isn't as potent as Peter's so this could be a nod to that. Canonically Silk (Cindy Moon) has the best spider sense.

Pretty much. We don’t have a lot of venomous spiders in North America. The two heavy weights are black widows and brown recluse, and even then their bites are not that bad to teens and adults. Brown Recluse can require treatment to prevent tissue death around the bite (I know from experience).

The scene with his father talking to him through the door always brings me to tears. It's because some of us are fortunate to have parents or guardians who give us that tough but supportive love. They just want what's best for us and we always get that honest conversation. This was that and they nailed it so well. Mostly due to Brian Tyree Henry's emotional performance. Having Miles just listen allowed him to understand that his fathers not out to ruin his life, but literally just wants what's best for him. It was such a beautiful scene and every time I watch it, it's just waterworks. Thanks for reacting to this movie, Mary. Keep up the awesome work.

But Olivia... it's not stated, but she has to be aware that Kingpin's plan won't work, because his family will disintegrate. It's implied that Octavius would love to take that chance FOR SCIENCE. And it also suggests she's playing Kingpin and not afraid of him at all. I really like it, I hope she comes back somehow.

Yes, but actually no. Milles himself is from an alternative universe compared to the "mainline" universe (MCU is also considered an alternative one), and in his universe Peter did die (it started as a "what if" storyline). Right now he exists as well in the mainline universe (where peter is still alive).
Bonus: Ned, which is the best friend of spider-man in the MCU is an old character that has brought back by Milles comics where he is Milles best friend. The MCU Ned is a carbon copy of Milles Ned but friends with Peter instead. In this movie Ned is his roommate.
Also, Milles uncle is also in the MCU, in Spiderman Homecoming he is the guy who spidey get the information about the boat (and also let locked in the car by a web, with ice-cream that for sure has lost)
Miles best friend isn't Ned, its Ganke Lee. Ned was always Peters Friend, just for some reason they gave him Gankes appearance in the modern films.
Bonus: ultimate Peter Parker didn't die actually, but the storyline was left unresolved since that universe was destroyed. And miles was merged into the 616 universe ending the ultimate spiderman book

@@eb2681 he died then a couple issues later on Miles comic run he came back, said he didn't remember how. Norman Osborn also survived so he hypothesized that the OZ formula in him, Peter and miles made them immortal.
After miles and Peter defeat him again, Peter and MJ leave town and the story never picked up after that cuz Secret wars killed the Ultimate Universe. But in a later comic (Spider-Men II if I remember) which is set in 616 showed 616 Miles(not spider miles but the original miles from that universe) trap our miles and Peter and then leave to a now resurrected 1610 universe to find a version of his dead girlfriend. The last few panels showed us a grown up Ultimate Peter leading a team of heroes against Goblin. After that we never saw Ultimate Peter again.
Tho in the new Venom comics we saw Maker travel back to 1610 and it's new york was burning when he arrived, all the heroes are missing. That too was never picked up again but we might see more of 1610 soon maybe
They originally planned for MCU spiderman to just be Miles Morales instead of Peter Parker.
That’s why there’s a younger Aunt May, originally meant to be his Mom. Ned as best friend. All his love interests so far are also darker skinned individuals (This point isn’t that relevant). “MJ” isn’t actually Mary Jane. Needs a father figure to guide him. (Tony Stark instead of Peter Parker). Goes to a “smart” school. Flash isn’t white.
Many other points, but MCU Peter Parker is basically Miles Morales’ story replaced with Peter Parker.
@@rudrasingh6354 nah for me personally I just think both Peter and Norman died in that fight cause it is beautiful that way cause otherwise Peter's "I did it your safe" is pointless cause he never saw anyone of his enemies other than Norman as a threat. The death of spider-man is my all time favorite spider-man stories so I just consider both if the them die.... it is just poetry that way.

To be fair it was a fairly common villain color back in the day. Hydra, Doc Ock, Doctor Doom, Goblin, Vulture, Mysterio, Poison Ivy, countless others... it was also often used for ambiguous characters like The Hulk and Vision who shifted alignments or otherwise seen as dangerous.

Gwen Stacy is one of Peter’s girlfriends in the comics. One of the serious ones. She dies because of Green Goblin. Her death is a big moment in comic history. There are comics where she’s Spider Woman.
They didn’t bring the spider people intentionally. They were brought because Green Goblin pushed Peter into the beam. Kingpin was saying “Get him out of there!”
You’ve actually seen Miles’ uncle in the MCU. Remember Donald Glover (Childish Gambino) in Spider Man Homecoming? People actually wanted him to play live action Miles for a while. In fact you can see an episode of community playing on Aaron’s tv in this movie where Donald is wearing a spider man shirt

That Spider Man in the credits scene is Miguel O’Harra, from Spider Man 2099. He was voiced by Oscar Isaac, Poe from star wars
That wasn’t Stan at the end, it was J Jonah Jameson. The guy in charge if the Daily Bugle who hates Spider Man. Someone spread the false fact that he had been voiced by Stan, but he wasn’t.
Fun fact: Miles Morales’ character design is actually based on Donald Glover! That’s why so many people wanted him to play Miles Morales.
There's a bit of color coding that tended to happen in older comics. Green and purple were usually used for villainous characters, while the good guys got reds and blues. Not always the case, but Spider-Man's rogues gallery is a pretty good example of this.

The untold story between Miles' Father and Uncle Aaron is amazing. Two young African American boys growing up in Brooklyn in the 80s and 90s, the things they must've seen and the pressures on them must have been immense. One when into law to keep people safe on the streets, the other turned to powerful crime probably thinking to do the same.

The one advantage about half of these viewers and myself have over you Mary is that we got to see this on the big screen back in 2018. It had a much more immersive feel in the theaters. And everybody noticed how it changed the animation look here and there to enhance each scene. Artists must absolutely love the expressionism in this! I was so glad I got to see this in the theaters.
As a 50 year old man I had no plans on seeing this film, but after my younger coworkers recommended it to me I gave it a chance. While watching it I knew I was right, this film was not made with 50 year old men in mind. And yet I was still amazed! I had so much fun watching this. Being a huge Spider-Man fan when I was a kid took me back to everything I loved about Spider-Man in the first place. So grateful to see this.
There was a viral thread on Twitter when this movie came out which excerpted the part of the script when Miles finally takes the big leap. It describes that the image should be upside down, with the text reading, "He is not falling. HE IS RISING." Even typing that makes me tear up.

For the collider plan, it was always to bring back Kingpin's family. The spider people were brought there because green goblin held Spiderman in the collider's beam in the beginning of the movie. 🙂
Interesting fact: Green color was one of the cheapest colors to press and that's why most villains wore green back in the day.

That is what I feel makes this movie so great. Even though it's got crazy animation it still manages to feel so human. That scene with miles and his dad is powerful because you could connect with it.

Unfortunately it IS cannon that in Miles' universe Spiderman died and Miles because the new Spiderman. All his powers in the film he has in the comics as well

I really think you should give the Andrew Garfield movies a try. I personally prefer them to the Tobey Maguire ones. I know that's an unpopular opinion, but I really liked them.
I actually found the first Andrew Spidey movie nice but unnecessary. Its the second one that was all over the place. No fault to the actors in it though. They did the best with what they were given.

Couple of fun facts/info for Mary.
This is based on the comic books. Miles originally comes from a multiverse in the comics known as the Ultimates universe (which is where the black Nick Fury is from. Originally he was white but in this universe, the artist modelled him off of Sam L Jackson, which meant he obviously got the part in the MCU). He is also animated at a lower fps to everyone else at the start of the movie, which makes his moves more janky, until he gets the full suit. He dates Gwen in the comics. He becomes the new Spider-man when the multiverse merges and people have the ability to freely travel between them.
Gwen is "Spider-woman" on her earth, where Peter Parker becomes a villain called the Lizard. She kills him, then gets blamed for killing him by the police (which her dad is the chief of). She's voiced by Hailee Steinfeld (Kate Bishop in the Hawkeye TV series). As there is a Spider-woman in the regular comics, she is known as Ghost Spider in the regular Marvel universe. She's one of the few Web Warriors that can freely travel between dimensions.
Jake Johnson is Peter B Parker, but Chris Pine (Steve Trevor from Wonder Woman) is the Blond Peter who gets killed.
Spider-man Noir is played by Nicolas Cage (who changed his surname to Cage after his favourite comic character at the time, Luke Cage, rather than use his real surname which is the same as his uncle, director Francis Ford Copolla, so he could break into Hollywood under his own merit rather than piggyback off his uncle's fame). Spider-man Noir is a version of Spider-man that never made it out of the 1950s, so relies more on his Film Noir detective skills than his powers. The comics are in black and white and he basically just fights slightly powerful mafia gangsters.
The scene where Miles finally embraces his destiny and pushes himself off the building is physically impossible as the city has been warped in the shot. The city is actually stretched around a small sphere, to enhance the camera angle as he drops to street level, but it creates an awesome effect that isn't really perceptible to the naked eye.

This is easily the best Spiderman movie. The Art style, characters, plot and music are all amazingly on point. Love it so much and so glad you reacted to it and liked it. This coupled with Spiderman PS4 (if you haven't played it) are some of Spiderman content there is.
The Andrew Garfield Spiderman movies are underrated. What I like about all the Spiderman movies is that they all focus on different aspects. The Andrew Garfield movies focus a ton on the emotional aspect. I personally love them a lot because I love emotional movies. I think you should give them a shot and maybe react to them.
