I have a lot of them on my 'hiking and backpacking' playlist. I didn't know most of those spots until you watched go there! On this occasion, I had a lot of uncertainty creeping into my thoughts until I actually saw the lakes! I knew they were up there somewhere!
Yes, this is the start of my sierra slam clip on my backcountry fishing playlist. I wasn't planning to do it but when I got the golden early I set out to get the other three.
I do not think I did that. I have fished long lake in that area though. I have a clip for it on my backcountry fishing playlist. At least I think I do! I got a lot of lakes on there!
No plans on slowing down. Been doing it for a lot of years before I had this channel. Search and rescue will have a good idea of where to find me if I'm overdue.
@@wildernesswithamani1027 lol... my sentiment as well. I love cross country offtrail. that talus is the worst part. nothing like a one ton boulder rocking back n forth as your scrambling up or down a pass.
I didn't scout that out but there were a couple of groups camping at the Gem lakes but they were a little closer to the water than I would care to be. There was another group camped down a bit farther away from the main lake. A lot of people camp there so it stands to reason there are multiple sites in the area for camping. For me, it would be easier to camp at Gem Lakes and then day hike up to treasure lakes.
@@wildernesswithamani1027 thanks! Years ago, I camped at chickenfoot and hiked up to the gem lks. Didnt recall seeing sites at gem, but good to know you saw groups camping. I'll be there this Saturday and Sunday and want to check out treasure lks this time around. Was thinking about offloading to them from long lk, but wasnt sure if there were any camping areas. Instead, lm going to camp at upper gem and take your route over to the treasure lks! Appreciate the Intel. Did you catch any goldens?
If we see this, you made it because you need to be in a civilized area to post this lol. If we dont get any fishing soon, we know you might be lost. lol
The only delay in getting the fishing up was the hours of editing! There's often a little uncertainty when you are trying to find a cross country route to a lake for the first time. This time was no different!
@@wildernesswithamani1027 i know about editing. I am a photographer and I can take over 1000 photos of an event resulting in many hours of editing . Brutal. Tight lines.
That was a trek, thanks for pushing forward, ok I am watching the next one now👍
I always need to see what is beyond the horizon!
Quite the adventure. Can’t wait to see what Treasure you find
It ended up as a "sierra slam"! Got my Golden trout up there. The slam clip is already up if you haven't seen it and are interested.
@@wildernesswithamani1027 I am and I will now search for it. Thanks
Amani as always great video you know all the spots…. Be safe thank you. One day I’ll hit some of these spots

Certainly a treasure of an adventure!
I love the uncertainty of trying to find a route to lakes you've never seen that lack a clear trail to get there. A taste of old school exploration!
Sketchy but cool hike
Trust me, I was on "stop and turn around if I'm unsure" mode!
These goldens always seem to be work and around 11, 000 ft high.
I wasn't even sure I was going the right way until I saw the lakes!
That didn't look too bad.
Once I saw the lakes and knew for sure I was going to the right spot, it wasn't bad at all!
Thanks I’m going in two weeks. Any luck with goldens?

Were you able to walk down Rock Creek, the outlet of Treasure, and get down to Long Lake?
I do not think I did that. I have fished long lake in that area though. I have a clip for it on my backcountry fishing playlist. At least I think I do! I got a lot of lakes on there!
Amani you are nutz!!! stop hiking in such remote areas by yourself! Be safe man!!!

notice any camping spots at upper gem lk or at any of the treasure lakes (sandy areas to put up a tent)?

This was an adventure that had a little uncertainty in it.
