Vader is the best due to how even the 2nd most evil man in the galaxy is conflicted about what he should do. He hates and loves himself. And he has reasons to be evil. Lucas is brilliant.
5:22 I love it when it starts with this part of the song. remember being 10 and playing N64 Shadows of The Empire- Ord Mandell level. I used to love this song. so glad I found it again.
The prelude at 4:22 is such a clear reference to Night on Bald Mountain and it makes sense. At this point Night on Bald Mountain was mostly used in magic shows when people are holding their breath under water, trying to escape a water box in a straight jacket or something. Escaping the clutches of Vader both in the immediate sense of escaping his force grip as well as the galactic presence and stronghold over Bespin... great musical reference.
08:16-08:29- "I'm standing here in pieces and you're having delusions of grandeur!...YOU DID IT!"Always makes me laugh how quickly C3P0's opinion changes...
4:15 - 5:05: What a marvelous example of how to build drama and tension with music. The strings slowly crescendo throughout as the brass becomes increasingly menacing. Absolutely wonderful.
You know.......what makes this music so awesome ...and this is important... and gives me chills.....is at 4:14 ,( when they are manouevering the Falcon under Cloud City to pick up Luke)...the "hyperspace" theme in an altered ,less "rhythmic" form..(same trombone/horn chords. etc...can be heard) and then BAM at 5:06 it goes into the full rhythmic version of the theme.BEAUTIFUL!! The wonderful engine sound of the Falcon and the Bespin sunset ,together with the music ....absolutely sublime!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOHN WILLIAMS! THANK YOU FOR EVERY WORK YOU HAVE MADE, YOU ARE A GENIUS! YOU ARE THE GREATEST MAN IN CINEMA WHO WAS NEVER SEEN ON SCREEN! I WANT TO TELL YOU "I LOVE YOU" FOR YOU TO RESPOND "I KNOW!"
0:00 You've killed Rosh, defeated Kyle Katarn which completed your turning to the dark side, and now are in command of Star destroyer... camera slowly zooms in on your back while you are looking at command screen, camera shifts zooming in on your face and bloody tursty eyes filled with rage as you tighten your grip on Ragnos' scepter...
MrPier101 I think they do play that same theme when Rogue Squadron r looking 4 Han n Luke! What's funny is when the AT-AT's are chasing the Rebels down just before Luke takes one down and the Rebel speeder is flying off always reminds me of Bespin!? Think an alternate version of the Force theme is playing? Rogue Squadron. The OT even has the best sounding names. : )
4:30 is when Wedge and Lando reach the Death Star II's main reactor and destroy it in Return of the Jedi. Great moment and great music to accompany it.
At 5:06, one of the greatest action cues ever starts. It's still my all time favorite piece from the Star Wars films, especially the bit starting at 5:23. Pure magic and badass.
Beeps and boops, my sentiments, exactly. Just hearing mechanical footsteps and all of those muffled noises just to find he's behind you is perfect brick shatting material.
Luke, you do not yet realize your importance. You have only begun to discover your power! Join me, and I will complete your training! With out combined strength, we can END this destructive conflict, and bring order to the galaxy!
@Euromerican I love that motif too. By paying attention when re-watching the movies, I realized it's the theme used for speeding through a planet's atmosphere (as opposed to being in space), like Hoth and Bespin. That made it seem even more fitting for the N64 train-ride.
Vader: Obi-wan never told you about your father. Luke: He told me enough! He told me YOU killed him! Vader: No, I am your father! Luke: No! That's not true! That's impossible! Vader: Search your feelings! You know it to be true! Luke: No! No! Vader: Join me! Together we can rule the galaxy as father and son. The Emperor has foreseen this! Luke: (Jumps) Noooooooooo!
SO i Just did this but here goes. Look up podracer sounds in another tab. Click on "Star Wars: (TPM) Pod Race sound FX Whole Sequence" and go to the 1:00 point then pause. Got 4:58 on this video and pause. Play both at the same time and prepare to be blown away by all the sounds at once. Makes for an epic scenario
On the contrary. Thanks to you, the weakling Jedi who scorned me will soon be erased from history, replaced by a new race of warriors. Strong warriors. Warriors who know that the Force is not a shield to protect the useless, but is, in reality, a weapon to empower the worthy
None of that's going to happen Desann. Most of your Shadow Troopers are being mopped up by real Jedi, ones who have been trained to use the Force. The rest blew up with your ship.
Max Eisenhardt What a pathetic ruse. Desann to Fyarr. Admiral? Admiral! Admiral Fyarr, I order you to come in at once! ... I was wrong about you Katarn. Your failure as a Jedi hasn't weakened you. It's only made you stronger. Come, join me. You know in your heart you'll never truly be one of them.
@hulkmeister23: Yes. The G4 reboot is completely unlike the previous generations. Look up video /watch?v=yxqc0xu7nQU to hear the background music from the episode that specifically references this.
At a time when Star Wars was untouchable... I'll continue to watch every subsequent movie released through Disney (sigh), but I don't foresee anything in live action capturing the same mystique and magic as the originals. This piece of music is more epic than one of the new movies altogether (not saying which, because this isn't the place for hate on Star Wars!).
3:21 Every goddam time I have shivers and one tear or two
Same here. Glad I'm not the only one.
Music for a train ride, if you understand you had an amazing 90s child hood

Yeeesss
Shadows of the Empire of course.
SotE deserves it's own spin off movie
'Don't make me destroy you'.
Such a chilling line from a synthetic voice, and one reason I think Darth Vader is the best villain ever.
seen a few top 10 or whatever villains videos over the years. Vader always at the top.

And ofcourse Williams' artistic voice intact through it all. A great example of his musical literacy and integrity
Ben, Ben.......Leia, Leia......Tom Selleck.

3:22 rip Carrie fisher.... :(
MikeMic productions rip Carrie Fisher indeed
May the force be with her, always
5:06: Pure awesomeness
1:50 I had such a strange sensation like I was falling

Zak Rosenfeld Did they change that in the re release?
"Alert my Star Destroyer to prepare for my arrival."
1997 onward.
I actually like the new one, yall blinded by nostalgia
+Katari Right? The new one fits Darth Vader more. He's too cool to be so furious in front of his soldiers.

3:21, "Luke is still alive, go back!"
4:11 that night on bald mountain inspired riff gets me every time one of the best pieces in the entire saga.
Oh my gosh, the part at 5:23 is incredible..... I remember this from the Shadows of the Empire video game on N64.......... So cool.

FOR YOU TO RESPOND "I KNOW!"
That's exactly the sound that brought me to this video.
My dad and I absolutely hated fighting IG-88, and the Giant Dinoga from the sewers level.
This is the most operatic cue of the original trilogy IMO. I can't wait to hear what the Maestro gives us for Episode 7!
The only track I ever listen to from the original trilogy. Many good themes, and the entire 9 minutes is awesome.
Imperial March, Binary Sunset, Leia's Theme...no? okay
Not even the asteroid field from this same album? :(

5:20 The Best Part.
Absolutely! The Falcon and Tie Fighter Chase scene from Cloud City/Bespin.
Any scene with the falcon getting chased by tie fighters or Star destroyers is always going to be sick, and same for the music.
Thanks for uploading!
My PC blue screens pretty much daily, so I get to hear that bit of the song quite often :p
