It is NOT "unfair". I've loved Alex O'Conner, but this nonsense with Ayaan has really made me wonder, why the hell he's tough, yet fair, when destroying Denesh D'Susa, but is almost ready to JOIN Ayaan in "chosing to believe" nonsense. Seriously. What is he doing?
Before I see next week's thing, the only thing I can think of is that he's trying to get a clear read for everyone on just what Ali is pulling here. His questions seem poised to go deeper, and then back off. He's testing the defences for another force. I mean, I guess? I've never seen him chortling along before. It was weird.
@@guyjperson She wasn't even doing the normal level of lame apologetics. And her BS "I CHOOSE to believe" garbage gives away the game. And Alex is there saying stuff like, "I WISH there was a god". Seemingly months after wiping the floor with Densh D'Sousa. It is very, very weird. As someone who left rationality for superstition, he should have been even tougher on her. It's as though her semi-suicide threats make people treat her with kit gloves for some reason. If she can't face tough questions, she shouldn't put herself in a position to be asked tough questions. So I'm really disappointed in both her and Alex.
This clip was excellent. Thank you. And thank you for stating the bloody obvious: Jesus was a lunatic, far more than we'll ever understand ... primarily because we weren't there. But Ayaan Hirsi Ali somehow believes she knows what was really going on then.
This series has been impressively written and delivered. While there may have been people who have not enjoyed this series as much as others, This has been a worthwhile Video. Thank you for its production. A casestudy of how an otherwise rational person can start to believe unsupported things
In all honesty, christianity looks more and more like what I like to call, "nihilism in denial." Believing that there is nothing but desperately trying to trick yourself into thinking there is. I think that might be what she's going through.
I'm not convinced that pretty much all Christians, aren't "cultural Christians". How many "I used to be an atheist" stories, don't involve their wife dragging them to church? Or for that matter, someone else with emotional pressure holding sway.
@@brunozeigerts6379 No, I understand it has a lot of the same feel, but it's in it's own universe. There are a few scenes in it that bring me close to tears, which few things can these days. The past several years, it has been my xmas tradition to re-read it (altho I missed out this year).
I think what made this series so hard for me to watch was knowing that she's lying to my face. At least with someone like Kent Hovind, you get a sense that he really believes his bullahit. I'm so happy it's over.
The question where Alex tries to nail her down on a passage she finds compelling is pretty telling. She immediately starts prancing around the mulberry bush about other books and then comes back to the same vague crap she was spouting at the beginning. Thank you Mr. D. That was interesting. All 45 parts of it. I appreciate your work. Thanks for not covering the political stuff at the end. It was angering.
For sure I'll click on any video that has an illustrated Kama Sutra in the thumbnail! The way Ayaan talks - like she's marshalling her thoughts, organizing her answers, choosing her words. But what she says sounds like an oral book report of Lord of the Rings by a seven-year old. Hitch bless us.
A syndrome should be added to the DSM IV, which classifies mental disorders and conditions, with the photo of Ayaan and the title "total vulnerability to religious sellers of snake oil".
The thing that I this reminds me over and over again is that all Religions are trying to explain the interconnectedness of the universe. We feel that connection all the way to the atomic, even the quantum level. Those early attempts at explaining and feeling that connection, should be seen at that. Early attempts at trying to explain it.
I’d never heard of Ayaan before her conversion, and I’m pretty plugged into atheist content; I’m not sensing this intellectual powerhouse she was supposed to be, but after the book tour winds down, she will still have those problems she is pretending all went away. I’m struggling to feel bad for her.
She was a big deal back in the day (15yrs ago or so)...my memory is a little hazy, but I don't think anyone was saying "she's a brilliant thinker", but probably more of a "for all those Westerners defending Islam, here's a woman who grew up in it and managed to escape to tell you about how it truly is". Obviously, if I'm misremembering someone plz kindly put me right.
I'd like to see one more episode with Kitchen Island Bri grappling with this topic and putting the final word on it 😂. Thanks for such an interesting series!
Enjoyed the series, thanks. As an Englishman, I've heard worse - Americans often sound like Aussies. _Gawd blimey, love-a-duck, apples 'n pears,_ etc 😀
I don’t know dispensary prices, but put this towards some “White Widow”, “Girl Scout Cookies”, or “Granddaddy Purple,” as the internet says these strains are the most relaxing. I am a bit tense after watching her- I can’t imagine having to watch repeatedly to produce and edit this. Thank you for your sacrifice.
I feel your pain. Thanks so much! It was a bit of a grind. Especially since I’m a little ADHD. I can hyper focus, but not on one topic for this long. Don’t know that first strain. I’ll have to look for it. Thanks again!!! Blessings and indulgences are headed your way. ❤
What am I missing here? She obviously isn’t a deep thinker in fact one could argue she didn’t even think her way into her transitions from theism to atheism to theism. She’s not a great speaker or even an average apologist, what’s with the interest in this person?
While I don't have The Answer, I can at least respond to the question about crumpets. They are griddle cakes, the orginal of what Americans and Candians call English Muffins, which are IMO a poor imitation; in my childhood, they were called simply muffins. They are meant to be eaten hot, and slathered with butter, at tea-time. That's Afternoon Tea, btw, not High Tea, which latter is in fact the equivalent of dinner, if you've had dinner at mid-day.
I was only introduced to Hitchens after the fact, but every clip I see of him makes me understand why he's held in such high regard. Thanks for this series.
She fills me with a combination of pity and disgust , like those videos where someone saves an animal from a pit only for the animal to jump right back in.
Yes Brian, with you all the way and what a sane ride. Poor Ayaan, she is in great need of help and won't get it from Christians, only more excusagisms. I love your critiques and give us more.
“This is the end, beautiful friend This is the end, my only friend, the end Of our elaborate plans, the end Of everything that stands, the end No safety or surprise, the end I'll never look into your eyes, again” Hooray! The long series of nonsense excusagism is over!
Stop the presses. Is she telling me that people actually have feelings? And on top of that, "something exists"?!? Stand down "look at the trees". We have a new winner of the least convincing arguments category. In seriousness, I'm wondering how long it will take her to realize how woke Jesus was. But then I think she's learned to be a good Christian. As in reading the bible such in a way that it says what she wants.
Thanks for the video. BTW was thinking about it, who gets cake and then doesn't eat it... maybe if testing willpower? It's a weird expression, is all I'm saying. Going to go and google it.
She was asked what did she found striking in the gospels. Her answer is that she read psychology books and compares them to reading the Bible, but does not provide any specific example. This is a dishonest non-answer.
First, thanks for leaving out the MAGA bullshit. As you may remember, I'm taking a four-year leave of absence from politics. I hope there will still be a country in 2028. As for Ayaan, I think you've hit it on the head with suggesting she's shallow. It's always a shock when you meet people and give them the benefit of the doubt, only to be left shaking your head at the things they espouse. I suppose the only good thing about all this is that nobody really listens to her except to point out how she's regurgitating the same old nonsense conspiracy theists have been burping up for ages. No doubt the only people who will buy her book are believers that want to hold her up as an example of how some atheists will admit they were wrong and Jeebus is real after all. And again, nobody really listens to them, either, except their gullible flocks. Anyway, thanks for doing this Bri. I've hated it, but it needed to be said out loud. She's a twit, and now we see that she's always been one.
Not sure I would have been able to suffer watching that entire interview so, thanks for doing what I was not willing to do my self. You made listening to Ayaan's empty droning worthwhile. . . almost. ;)
5:45 Since she's gone ahead and exposed her sister's alleged health records, anyone have documentation about the sister truly experiencing psychotic episodes?
"Some poems are great. Therefore: an immaterial wizard used some type of really true magic to create the universe. And it was not the wizard they first mentioned to me. It happenst to be the best selling wizard" Ayaan (probably)
The way she speaks reminds me of chrump... Vague, Simplistic, and full of superlatives for her team and sophomoric dnigration for her opposition. Captain Non Sequitur strikes again!!!
10:05 Her speech mannerisms in this interview do **not** speak of somebody who is "well", especially compared to her older interviews. I'm not trained in psychology, but it's clear that something is still very wrong in her head.
I said much the same on the last episode where she claimed that Christianity filled her with joy or somesuch bollox. She looks and sounds like she hasn't even smiled since joining the cult. Ayaan, in your next interview, look straight at the camera and blink three times rapidly if you need rescuing.
Look at her body posture, especially the shoulders. She's terrified. Still possible she's just holding back the heaves rather than holding back the tears, mind. Without evidence we can't tell which is most likely.
Because it is the best option. To presume with equal lack of evidence that her crisis is faked would be to paint her bad. Which we have no evidence for. Think as well of the scientific method: you go to prove your negative claim is not wrong. So presume she's a faker would under the scientific method be you requiring to prove that she's sincere is 95%+ falsified. So you still need to start off with "she's experiencing a genuine crisis".
When she was talking about "not having the words" for psychological conditions until reading scientific literature about it, I thought for sure she was going to compare it to not having the words for spiritual stuff until reading scripture. But no...she decided to pretend there's scientific insight in the bible instead. Drivel.
No push back from O’Connor at all😒. He’s too polite and nice and I say that as a British man. It’s probably why a lot of apologists are willing to speak to him.
Or- he is able to expose more apologist BS through this tactic. He continues to be one of the better debaters, and improves with age. This format exposes all the lunacy, and doesn’t scare off future guests. He is interviewing in this context; it isn’t meant to be a debate, and appears to be a passive expose.
@ I get that it isn’t a debate but it’s still a conversational format no? I would still expect a bit of pushback. I wonder if he’s more bothered about losing invitations to speaking events etc.
I don't think anyone's actually not on the same page about this, but I'm fairly confident she's doing it for the money. She thought Hitchens would be there to take her farther before he passed, abd the atheist speaking curcuit started to dry up. In swoops some Jesus think tank, like PragerU or similar, to offer her a secure deal. I truly don't care if someone thinks it's uncharitable mythology, its nothing less than Occam's razor. Either this or she actually did believe all along in the fairytales she ran away from.
In the previous video there is a clip where she mentions it was doing a LOT of praying that led her to start believing again [hmm, to who?]. That makes it transparent she ain't gotta clue about even her own thinking [I'm being generous using 'thinking' here]
She looks so much like one of my patients i barely could look and listen. I would never exhibit such a person. Alex ist just a good, empathic human that's why he didn't push back Not like a certain deity 😂😂 Thanks for not standing back!
@@saemwill6380 I would think that she is one of the people that actually hates the "god" of the religion she left. Not even getting to the point that there's no reason to hate a non existent thing. That being said I haven't really looked into much of the Athiest overlords. Praise Hitch. JK And haven't really heard much about her beyond the conversion. I guess.
Tried that with people, even atheists, and they still INSISTED that a dog has five legs if we call a tail a leg. NOT ONCE did they understand: we still don't call a tail a leg. IIRC (and this could be me mixing things up out of think air) Abe Lincoln used that to demonstrate that philosophy was not sufficient at all.
I amazed that after all the hours of listening to Hitch videos he still has the power to spark a new insight. .Most of us innately know the difference between right and wrong. Unfortunately that knowledge often comes after the heat of the moment and the guilt and shame can be unbearable. How easy to have that innate emotional distress lifted by a religious mechanism and not have to do anything more.
It sounds like she made the argument that because music and poetry makes you feel something that it makes it real without evidence. Fiction is also a form of art that makes the audience feel something so by her own logic there is no fiction because if you feel it's true then it is. Also @MisterDeity it hasn't been called Multiple Personality Dissorder since it was reclassifed in the 90's as Dissociative Identity Dissorder.
When I was a kid people commonly called it schizophrenia. Then it was split personality, then multiple personality disorder, and now dissociative identity disorder. One part of me keeps up with these changes, but all the other parts are confused.
Brian, well I keep having trouble commenting. These were good. On your part. I wonder, the last I'd heard of Ayan, she was pregnant. I wonder if something bad happened with that. That, plus it sounds like she's just listening to the 'arguments ' (excuses) and only reading the bits they usually give newbies. She does truly sound as if she's blocking any of the bad. Wishful thinking at it's best. And, yeah, Alex doesn't seem to want to disturb any of her fears. 👍🏼💙💖💙💞💙🥰✌
@@ratdog6317 yeah I guess so. I just figure everyone is going through something, and I don't like it when people speculate on my personal problems. I suppose Ayaan is unlikely to see these comments anyway.
Well, I guess I was speculating because she put herself out there, again. A lot about her body, and personal issues. And said she was withdrawing for safety and being pregnant. Then disappeared, as expected. But now, she's back to sell her book. It bothers me that she seems to have gone so far right. I understand, since the left seems to embrace Islam, as if a 'minority'. But it also bugs me that her brother sort of predicted it all. And, she's pushing all the same lies of prager types, crediting christianity for the enlightenment values that religion diametrically opposes. That is horribly insulting to activists she (pretended?) to work with. 💙🥰✌
Thanks for getting into the weeds on this one. I'll acknowledge that it was sort of a slog and somewhat less fun than your usual output as of late. But, it was worth it. This is important. Clinically dissecting Ayaan's remarks can show us how cognitive cancers like Christianity can form and spread throughout the psyche. Analyzing cases of late-onset Christianity, especially decades after recovery from congenital Islam, is our best bet for finding effective strategies to combat against future spread within and between communities.
I don't know how much Ayaan studied other religions and cultures before jumping from one Abrahamic religion to atheism and then back to another Abrahamic religion not much different from her first one. However, I think her mental health could have benefitted from the Japanese wabi-sabi.
Depends what kind of god we are talking about. Some really powerful being(s)? I don’t know, but as long as there isn’t any evidence I have no reason to believe in existence of this being/these beings. Some specific powerful being like Yahweh? I know that it doesn’t exist because there’s evidence against it, most damning being that its own worshipers define it in ways which are as illogical and full of inner contradictions as married bachelor or circle with corners.

Especially in times like these, it’s so important to have people willing to speak out against misinformation in ways that are both uncompromising and entertaining, and you’ve nailed both. Looking forward to the next one.
Thanks for the kind words! ❤
The sexist double standard of being tougher with male counterparts.
You’ll enjoy next month’s video, Is Alex O’Connor Gaslighting Us?”

I think this was a useful and enjoyable series. Thanks, Mr. Deity!
You’re so welcome! I’m sending you multiple chances to make a first impression. Enjoy!
This clip was excellent. Thank you. And thank you for stating the bloody obvious: Jesus was a lunatic, far more than we'll ever understand ... primarily because we weren't there. But Ayaan Hirsi Ali somehow believes she knows what was really going on then.
Thanks for your great work and may the sublime Atheos be with you!
Hard to believe we made it through this huge sinking pile of... leaves?
“You can’t quantify emotions”. That statement makes me mad. I rate it 1 star. I’d give it zero stars if it’d let me.
This series has been impressively written and delivered. While there may have been people who have not enjoyed this series as much as others, This has been a worthwhile Video. Thank you for its production. A casestudy of how an otherwise rational person can start to believe unsupported things
In all honesty, christianity looks more and more like what I like to call, "nihilism in denial."
Believing that there is nothing but desperately trying to trick yourself into thinking there is. I think that might be what she's going through.
Richard is too busy being a "cultural Christian"
I'm not convinced that pretty much all Christians, aren't "cultural Christians".
How many "I used to be an atheist" stories, don't involve their wife dragging them to church? Or for that matter, someone else with emotional pressure holding sway.
I felt a whole lot more something when I read The Lord of the Rings than when I read the Bible. So I'm packing my bags for the Misty Mountains.
Gandalf died for your sins
I felt more reading anything by Terry Pratchett. So I'm off to Discworld... though... do I really want to live in Ankh-Morkpor?
For me it's "In Fury Born" by David Weber.
@@jursamaj Is that a Honor Harrington novel? I've read so many I've lost track

It's Yaweh or the highway! Brilliant!

The way Ayaan talks - like she's marshalling her thoughts, organizing her answers, choosing her words. But what she says sounds like an oral book report of Lord of the Rings by a seven-year old.
Hitch bless us.
if someone casts spirits into pigs... is that how we get "cured" bacon? enjoy the dad joke, and thanks for this!
I’m still not convinced of a sky daddy. This interview was dull. Thanks for making it more entertaining!
Beautiful articulation. Great work.
Thank you! Cheers! ❤
A syndrome should be added to the DSM IV, which classifies mental disorders and conditions, with the photo of Ayaan and the title "total vulnerability to religious sellers of snake oil".
That Hitchens clip is so fing good!
After the book tour we will have field day tearing it apart with evidence.
I'd heard of her. A few times, but a very minor player every time, she was an "also ran". I'd heard a lot more Sir Sic, to be honest.
I'd like to see one more episode with Kitchen Island Bri grappling with this topic and putting the final word on it 😂. Thanks for such an interesting series!
Well, I already have “Is Alex O’Connor Gaslighting Us?” in the can for next week.

She was thinking about money, profit, book sales. She's a grifter.
@@jenniferdawes9975 Awesome! Thanks for the info! ❤️
Crumpets are my favorite for second breakfast.
I was only introduced to Hitchens after the fact, but every clip I see of him makes me understand why he's held in such high regard. Thanks for this series.

Damn fine work, as always. Cheers
She fills me with a combination of pity and disgust , like those videos where someone saves an animal from a pit only for the animal to jump right back in.
Jumps right back in while hissing at the person who rescued it.
Next thing you know Ayaan will be shilling for the Templeton Foundation.
This wouldn't surprise me at all. If she goes to work for the Discovery Institute, that would surprise me.
it's amazing how long it took for this one part series to be done. I'm afraid that Ayaan Rand Ali didn't convince me though.
I cheated, I watched from the infinity minus 8 part.
@markhackett2302 Negative time? Smart.
Yes Brian, with you all the way and what a sane ride. Poor Ayaan, she is in great need of help and won't get it from Christians, only more excusagisms. I love your critiques and give us more.

Wow! You really closed that door for us. ❤
I'm pretty sure she has very little knowledge of the Bible in general, or of the gospels specifically ... you know ... like almost all Christians.
It seems even the "horsemen" and all like-minded atheists( 🤦🏻♂️) mistook their and ayaans shared hatred of muslim ideology for "brilliance"...
You made listening to Ayaan's empty droning worthwhile. . . almost.

Alex is as bad as Joe Rogan in this excreble example of legitimizing wishful thinking.
Her beliefs are metaphysical assumptions. Period.
The way she speaks reminds me of chrump...

I didn't believe, but then I looked at the trees, and now I'm an Evangelical Christian.
10:05 Her speech mannerisms in this interview do **not** speak of somebody who is "well", especially compared to her older interviews. I'm not trained in psychology, but it's clear that something is still very wrong in her head.
She comes across as so flat. Not happy, not peaceful.
By the way, apparently I'm a masochist, as I watched the whole series after all…
I said much the same on the last episode where she claimed that Christianity filled her with joy or somesuch bollox.
She looks and sounds like she hasn't even smiled since joining the cult.
Ayaan, in your next interview, look straight at the camera and blink three times rapidly if you need rescuing.
She seems like she's on strong downers!
Look at her body posture, especially the shoulders. She's terrified.
Still possible she's just holding back the heaves rather than holding back the tears, mind. Without evidence we can't tell which is most likely.
Damn. They always mention the art. Well, maybe they don't get it, but the church was the one paying for making art and requesting only religious crap.
Why are we assuming her personal crisis is true?
That’s a fair question.
Drivel.
I'm not sure if I watched an interview or Alex talking Ayaan off of a roof...
When I watch her, I think of the line from Die Hard: Man, why don't you try smelling what you're shoveling!
Well, as long as you can't show it or prove it, that means it just must be true.
How do people get away with this type of tripe?
some nations are more powerful than others. The most powerful nation, by far, is indoctrination.
It’s here it’s here. Hooray
That makes it transparent she ain't gotta clue about even her own thinking [I'm being generous using 'thinking' here]
I’m teaching infinite series in AP Calculus right now!😂

Can we at least agree that the horse is dead.
YES!!!! Hallelujah!
If you call a donkeys tail a leg, how many legs does it have?
Four. Calling a tail a leg doesn't make it one.
I knew that. But this chemo I’ve been taking for the last 11 years makes me stupid and forgetful. Thanks for the reminder.
When I was a kid people commonly called it schizophrenia. Then it was split personality, then multiple personality disorder, and now dissociative identity disorder.

Brian, well I keep having trouble commenting. These were good. On your part. I wonder, the last I'd heard of Ayan, she was pregnant. I wonder if something bad happened with that. @blanktester yeah I get it since I do worry about her honestly

However, I think her mental health could have benefitted from the Japanese wabi-sabi.
she studied enough to know that an ex-atheist can sell b00ks about totally legit true magic.
