At my God-daughter's small private school in W. Hants, several of the parents are having to remove their children due to the VAT. The council has only been able to offer places in Southampton 20 miles away, which is neither good for the children nor the net zero by 2030 plan.

They are bringing them in on standard ferries and the Channel Tunnel. The "small boats" is just a distraction, so they can reduce them to zero without actually reducing the number of invaders.
As someone born and bred in a council house and still living in a Council house and attending public schools, I find it highly hypocritical of people mocking those who can no longer afford private schools due to tax. Similarly with the farmers tax, most people who shout about "farmers paying their fair share" will never themselves pay IHT as they have nothing to inherit.
As far as the small boats go...I cannot understand why the government at the very least are not saying to France that they must stop allowing these boats to come across from France, for years it has been the case that France are allegedly and openly encouraging these people to get into these boats and head for the UK. Why are the French not being questioned about this practice???
Labour MPs pushing for more school places for their own children, that's what this is really about. They know that by slapping an extra 20 percent on the fees, they’re pricing out families who are already stretching every penny to give their kids a shot at a better education. It’s not about “fairness” or “levelling up”; it’s about clearing the way for their own kids. And yet, the die-hard Labour supporters, still clinging to the fantasy that this party represents the working class, cheer it on as if they’re landing some knockout blow against the so-called “toffs.” The irony is staggering. Who suffers most? The very people they claim to champion. This policy doesn’t stick it to the rich; it yanks the ladder away from the poor, ensuring they never even get a chance to grab the first rung. Wake up and smell the hypocrisy.
If you want to know how much the uni party has screwed up look at food shop sales for Christmas but factor inflation in. Im a deliver driver i deliver shopping and have done for 4ish years every Christmas it goes nuts usually we have a full 17 drops per run or the vans max weight limit (2 runs per full shift) from the first of December until Christmas last Wednesday i had 9 customers in the morning and 16 in the afternoon we didnt send one of our vans out in the morning or afternoon and our late evening vans 4 werent needed for December its nearly unheard of. My feeling is financially it will look good but when you factor in inflation compared to previous years we are down allot people are not buying asmuch as they have been hit left right and centre, i know families who are helping relatives stay fed and warm and this isnt even close to a cold winter! If things take a turn for really cold it could get bad quick
I remember when the older teachers bagan to retire at my school, it was devastating because there was no more competence after that. I didn't go to a private school but I'm glad somebody did. I believe they are needed.
If politicians both sides of the channel were really concerned about safety, they would have put full resources, including using the army, into stopping these boats as soon as this route was being attempted many years ago?
We had to take our children out of private school as with the VAT it was impossible to pay the fees. We visited 3 state schools in the area who told us they all had spaces. We contacted the council and they said they didn’t have places. When we told them the head teacher at each school had confirmed there were spaces the council told us they had to keep spaces back for ‘new arrivals to the country’
💯 well.said buddy it 's very tough sometimes. I know of 2 that could not cope. One a great guy and big construction company stuffed him for 60k.. and took his life. Tough out there for alot of walks of life 💯 but your right construction is hard hit wirh suicides.
I have every respect for those that send their children to private schools and sacrifice to do so. Although I no longer have school age children my neighbours do and they are finding it difficult to find places for their children in state schools and have to send them to schools outside of the normal catchment area. How can we accommodate those who can no longer afford the cost of private schools.
Maybe schools could lower the actual prices, to bring them into line with what the parents would have paid anyway. Then, parents could pay by means of donations, which are relatively untraceable. PM does that all the time, so it must be OK.
The law before Keir starma became an mp he was a barrister who fought and won....when I worked in the embassy it was law in the UK you had to claim asylum it in the first safe country you reach.....he is responsible for far more than the mess we are in now.
This government is ridiculous, takes the winter fuel allowance off the pensioners before winter and then increases school tuition by 20% mid school year. They have gave zero time for anyone to prepare for these increased costs
We couldn’t afford to send our children to private school. However, I feel so sorry for both the parents and their children whose lives have been thrown up in the air by the VAT charge. Imagine how you would feel as a parent trying to do your best then having the rug pulled out from under you. Or a child who will be put in a school somewhere, maybe not even close to home, which has a different curriculum and amongst children they don’t know (who may not be particularly kind). This could be so damaging for some children’s future. Shame on this bloody awful government 😡
Dianne Abbott publicly denounces private education with the same contempt that fuelled the decision to tax it; yet she sent her own son to private school.
Parents have exactly the same problems in Wales .The Welsh Government promised people that things were going to get a lot better for the people of Wales because we have a Labour government in Westminister and they will cooperate better between each other , since then 400,000 pensioners have had their winter fuel allowence taken off them ,business have stopped recruitng people because of the high cost of employment ,so unemployment is going up ,state education standards are already the worst in the country and are years behind England ,family homelesness is increasing ,gp practices are closing down in rural parts of Wales and Aand E departments are being closed down in areas like Llanelli because there's a shortage of doctors and i can carry on typing all day .
Assuming those Dinghy type boats are the immigrant trafficking of people boats before the RNLI handover in the middle of the channel - why on earth don't the "captains" of the Dinghy get apprehended and then confiscate said Dinghy ? All this could be stopped literally overnight with a physical presence of stopping them instead of aiding in a criminal act
@@raybeer5213 Probably not but that just reinforces why people struggle to send their kids to private school. School, these days, is shit. General level of education is on the decline.
If they confiscated the dinghy, how on earth are they supposed to rtn it to France for the next journey ? When a train reaches the terminus, it doesn't get scrapped !
I and two of my siblings went without so my sister could go to a private school. Some people really do struggle to send their children to private school.
Those children will hopefully remember why they had to move schools and away from everything that they know. Whether it’s private or state education, it’s tough for the children
Any decent school will find alternative ways of charging for their services. Can accommodation, meals, security, computers, transport, heating, be paid for by non-VATable means ?
Education not taxation web site is worth reading. We had to pull our grandson from independent school due to the 20% increase. Our granddaughter is still in independent school with a scholarship. My son finally got a place at a special school after being let down by a failing mainstream school. He had 1 year of education left and 4 years of catch up to do. He lost the place due to "funding! " (starmer government!). Only hope is he has life smarts in spades but not much education. Possibly a good thing as he trusts only the trustworthy.
Just going to throw this into the mix . I heard on my local radio station ( devon ) that schools that permanently exclude a child will be fined £21,000 per child.
The government underestimated how many parents were sacrificing a lot so their children did not have to be subjected to incompetence of the public school system. What a shock.
Tinkering with self funding excellent schools is an envy tax. I have no problem with any private money spent on education for the future of Britain. As an Irish person who worked in London in the 80's and admired the institutions and freedoms it has dissolved into a Orwellian nightmare run by communists! I hope common sense prevails.

I wonder why this government is so pathologically averse to admitting they've made an error? Not only will they not own up to a mistake, but they ALWAYS double down on them, as if that will somehow turn their cock-up into a win! It's just weird because I for one would respect the small measure of humility it would demonstrate.
This government doesn't care what happens to the children of the supposedly rich, because they hate the rich... unless, of course, it is 'they' who are the 'rich', and the children are theirs... Also, I am a little currious as to what 'maritime law' has to say about 'seafarers in distress', otherwise known as illegal immigrants in rubber boat death traps, being 'rescued and then returned to what was their obvious setting off point, otherwise known as France...? It's obvious that people 'in peril on the sea' should be 'rescued', even when they have pretty much deliberately put themselves in that situation for their own benefit, but where does it say that the 'rescuer' then has to then take permanent full responsibility for them afterwards?
I moved from state to public education because I had mental health issues, it was like going from hell to heaven. I can't imagine how devastated I would be to have to go back

I had to change schools at 15 when my parents moved house from the south to the north and it was the worst time of my life. I remember being the odd one out, bullied and so unhappy I was in tears most days in private and my exams were a disaster. Imagine going from a private school to a local comp, that’s worse. When I see what this government is doing to these children it just gets to me and they are just on the typical labour socialist class warfare. They don’t realise most parents of kids at private schools arnt rich. They don’t have holidays, they don’t have nice cars, they scrimp and save everywhere to pay those fees. Of course there are some who are very wealthy who could probably pay a bit more income tax, but most are not and those parents just have average jobs. But labour won’t see that, it’s just who can they rob for more tax and who needs an impact assessment lets just get them as an easy target. Starmer and his team are liars and need removing.
@@garryok3730 honestly it’s not that, because we all mix with people from all walks of life every day, it’s more they are just kids at the end of the day and it’s them that will suffer. There must be a better way to raise taxes that this.

Why should we be held responsible for their safety, when they don't give a hoot for their own safety only greed, and being ungrateful with what they receive, the amount of money splashed out on them could be going towards those children that's education is being disrupted by this no good government 😡
Lovely jumper BBB
It won't surprise me if the government starts to bring them in on flights so their journey is not so perilous

Business class, at least -- the poooorrr babies.
They are bringing them in on standard ferries and the Channel Tunnel.
The "small boats" is just a distraction, so they can reduce them to zero without actually reducing the number of invaders.
There are infinity people wanting to come to UK. They may as well get some private jets to do it
As someone born and bred in a council house and still living in a Council house and attending public schools, I find it highly hypocritical of people mocking those who can no longer afford private schools due to tax. Similarly with the farmers tax, most people who shout about "farmers paying their fair share" will never themselves pay IHT as they have nothing to inherit.
We have scrapped pay rises and bonuses. It's disgusting what Labour are doing.
I have my job scrapped too, and my son's, just before Christmas😳 because of their employer national insurance heist.🙄
I think we should adopt similar border control measures to Saudi Arabia and Egypt 🤔
Or Israel. Weird how Israelis over here whine whenever we try it.

As far as the small boats go...I cannot understand why the government at the very least are not saying to France that they must stop allowing these boats to come across from France, for years it has been the case that France are allegedly and openly encouraging these people to get into these boats and head for the UK. Why are the French not being questioned about this practice???
Because they are all working for the same Boss
the last government and maybe this one have paid millions to france to try and stop the boats I guess we won't be asking for that back.
People have no idea how much their energy bills will be so control what they can control.
I remember when the older teachers bagan to retire at my school, it was devastating because there was no more competence after that. I didn't go to a private school but I'm glad somebody did. I believe they are needed.

We had to take our children out of private school as with the VAT it was impossible to pay the fees. We visited 3 state schools in the area who told us they all had spaces.

The minimum wage for over 21s, known officially as the National Living Wage, will rise by 6.7%, from £11.44 to £12.21 from April 2025. For someone working full time, or a 37.5 hour week, that equates to £23,873.60 a year, up from £22,368.06.29 Oct 2024

Just going to throw this into the mix . I heard on my local radio station ( devon ) that schools that permanently exclude a child will be fined £21,000 per child.

The government underestimated how many parents were sacrificing a lot so their children did not have to be subjected to incompetence of the public school system. What a shock.
Maggie took the milk. Keir took the whole school.
Margaret Thatcher told an opposition MP that he would rather the poor were poorer so long as the rich weren't so rich.
As long as starmers son can study for his GCSE, in a quiet £18m mansion and continue in private school then everything will be okay!!🧐

It's just weird because I for one would respect the small measure of humility it would demonstrate.
because they are not working for the country.... here is a clue , starmer is a "trotskyist"

I had to change schools at 15 when my parents moved house from the south to the north and it was the worst time of my life.
