You guys should check out Stephanie Ike, she's incredible and the Holy Spirit moves in her well to where she truly listens to God's direction to uniquely help others each day. Truly, Jesus wants us to help and heal others through faith, obedience, and action in this broken world to advance God's kingdom through the Holy Spirit. Stephanie is on two neat episodes of Girls Gone Bible. She also has a book coming out The Power of Your Dreams: A Guide to Hearing and Understanding How God Speaks While You Sleep. Two things I want to tell you and I hope that Pastor Pokluda reads this :)
A couple of years ago I had a dream that I was being chased by looked like my brother and he had a machete and I was running for my life in a airport and I saw what looked like a sewer entrance and I got in and I winded up in Little Italy in the Bronx where I studied in High School. As I was walking I began to see the surrounding building to collapse so I started to run again and the buildings began to collapse faster and as I was running I saw this child on the street so I ran to him and put him on my arms and ran with him and I walk up and I asked God, Whose is this child that I saved? As I said that awake I felt like someone came to my ears and whispered, The child is you and I said but Lord it was I saving him and again I heard that whisper in my era and said no, That child is you and it is I that am carrying you. I was going through some hard struggles at the time with my mom dying from cancer and I was being persecuted in my church because of my old fashion beliefs and I was a youth leader at the time. I have a lot of spiritual experiences so I already knew it was God speaking to me because I have heard his voice many times and have seen only the blinding light of his presence.
A couple of weeks ago I was watching Pastor Pokluda interview at GGB and I admit I didn't finish watching it because I got really tired and sleepy so I went to rest and I had a dream and in the dream I saw Pastor Pokluda in what seemed like some type of mansion with pillars on the side of the house and it seemed like night time and I saw Angela and Arielle and than I heard a voice that said, Get Him! and I woke up. My first instinct was wow, the pastor is going to receive an attack from the devil so I said Lord protect him even though I don't know him but if you showed me this than protect him. In 1992 I suffered a heat stroke and I got to see only the tunnel of hell and the clouds of heaven so no Jesus or angels but that's another testimony but the reason why I bring this up is because after a month of being discharged I began to see things that have not happened but happened as I saw it. I asked that I didn't want to see those things again or have dreams and so it stopped but than I had this dream with Jonathan and it freaked me out so since I don't know the Pastor I couldn't tell him what I saw and heard and I admit I brushed it to the side as just a dream because I just saw him at GGB so when I hear about the chest pain I got touched and as I write I am sentimental because I should have said something but I shut the warning down as just a bad dream and not me having those warning dreams again.

Wouldn't it be great if there was some kind of written codex validated by scholars that recorded God's history, will and intentions so we would not have to guess the will of God?
Havilah Cunnington's book Called to Hear God is a good place to start on hearing God.
My biggest question is if you think God speaks outside of the bible does that not mean you think that scripture is not sufficent? It's not about how God can speak but how he is chosen to
If God said that scripture is sufficent and then chose to speak to you outside of that, that means that God is a liar
Hey Max, that is a great question. It's much deeper than that and so wonderful. The Bible is the word, and Jesus is the word, and Jesus (the word/bible/truth) is in the Holy Spirit (a great example would be John 1:1-3). God longs for a deep relationship with us (especially you, because he profoundly loves you beyond measure). God is helping us by graciously providing the physical word, the Bible (allowing us to spend time with Him and Jesus, to know Him through Christ. "Jesus is the way, the truth, the life. No one comes to the Father except through Him" John 14:6), and a divine helper, the Holy Spirit to dwell in us to take divine action through faith as He communicates with us. Thus producing wisdom and divine action and interaction. As long as we obey and trust, we can hear Him better. Truly, I believe you are referring to "There's nothing more profitable in the world than God's Word. It's profitable for teaching us. Just think of all the ways the Bible teaches us who God is. The Bible teaches us the nature and character and attributes of God." 2 Tim. 3:16-17, written by Apostle Paul.
Throughout the entire Bible, God chooses to speak to people through dreams, signs, and other miraculous situations. The Bible contains all the words of God we need for salvation, for trusting him perfectly, and for obeying. It's beautiful, a needed daily source (as well as the Holy Spirit, which has the source of truth, and that truth is in the bible.). Hope this helps, Max! And hope your week is going well.

And 1 John 4:1-3
[1] Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. [2] This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, [3] but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.
