    Almost, it's actually the bisection point between the line from the tragus to the tip of the nose and the line from the tip of the upper incisors to the nose. MM

    Hi I am a 20 years old female and I spoke to John Mew and he predicted that my mew indicator line is 42 or 43 over a zoom call, is it realistic to say that myofunctional therapy can bring my indicator line to the normal range if i work hard?

  • @daviddekker676
    @daviddekker676 ปีที่แล้ว

    Does normal range mean ideal? So 38-40mm is ideal?

    Hi! Thank you for these videos. I have a question. What if I draw a straight line from my tragus to my nose, but the line doesn't meet with the tip of my nose, I have a short nose, how should I measure?

    • @allsleepashley
      @allsleepashley  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure I understand. The line will be angled from your tragus to the tip of your nose (it will not necessarily be straight forward).

    I went to Doctor Hang and he measured my indicator line and I am 15 yr idk male and he said mines was 39. I went home and measured it and I got way higher. I prob just measured it incorrectly. If his measurement was correct, then I will have a 34mm indicator line after 2 mm incisor proclamation and 3mm of rphg because I now have an edge to edge bite

    • @allsleepashley
      @allsleepashley  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you doing any transverse expansion with the incisor proclamation and the rphg? I'll be curious to hear about your results!

      @@allsleepashley yes. My parents are orthos, but j convinced them to go with doctor ting and we already finished 8 mm expansion with MSE . My starting imw was 39mm, and now is 47 or so. My teeth were slightly retroclined before (first time having ortho) and will need to be proclined 2mm and use of the forwarddontics facebow/rphg which I will attempt to pull up and forward woth

    when I'm mewing I feel like my tongue pushes my bottom front teeth forward...
    I set my tounge on the roof of the mouth, a little bit behind the front upper teeth, right above my bottom teeth are placed (the bottom teeth are also a little bit behind the upper teeth so the tounge and the lower teeth are in the same distance from the upper teeth). But it feels like my tounge is too big and thick so it touch contantly to my bottom teeth and like pushing them, I can feel my bottom teeth after mewing... so what can I do? place my tounge even more backwards so it won't be aligned with the bottom teeth together with the upper teeth? or maybe the tongue should touch the bottom teeth' especially if we close mouth and lips?...

    • @allsleepashley
      @allsleepashley  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can you gently suction your tongue to the roof of the mouth when lips are closed? If you can, does your tongue still touch your bottom teeth when you do this?

    After watching ur videos n doing self assesment ..my tongue is not tied i can freely move my tongue i dont mouth breathe but my palate is narrow .. i can push my tongue in the palate by sqeezing inside .. will it allow more room after being consistent i do notice my teeth are growing inward ... But my speech is usually clear

    • @allsleepashley
      @allsleepashley  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You may be able to get your teeth the move out toward your lips by being consistent with placing your tongue on your palate within your teeth. This obviously depends on the current position of your teeth and the width of your tongue.

    Can this distance decrease increase a few millimetres (say, 5 ) in a few months? I am a teenager that tries to maintain good oral posture but I feel like the past few months I have had a massive downswing in facial form ://

    • @allsleepashley
      @allsleepashley  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      May I ask how old you are? Bone remodels constantly and can change quickly when you are young. The face goes through various stages of growth during the teenage years as well so this may be contributing. Can you explain more by what you mean by a downswing in facial form?
      Are you maintaining the pressure of your tongue to the palate from the front all the way to the back of the tongue? Are you making sure to chew foods that require thorough chewing and taking time to chew even those that do not require thorough chewing? This may still help wider facial development in your teenage years.

    I am a 23 year old mate and mine is 48? I have TMJ and I am going to seek help from a myofunctional therapist near me! What do you think about that number in relation to tmj? Does that correlate ?

    • @allsleepashley
      @allsleepashley  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      48 does indicate a retracted maxilla and does correlate with TMJ issues, in regards to what I see clinically. Though, this correlation may not be direct. For example, a retracted maxilla could be a major cause of breathing issues at night and breathing issues can lead to TMJ dysfunction.
