Ive had the previous model for about 5 years now , no issues, just home owner projects , also dont treat ot like an pneumatic nailer , obviously its not one , they are 2 diferent beasts
I got mine two weeks ago on sale for $299. Framed up 106ft of fence using HF hot dipped ring shank nails , 6 nails per picket and only had one minor jam while running the horizontal 2x4's which I think was my fault as I hadn't gotten familiar with the gun yet...i'm guessing around 2000 nails or so. It worked flawlessly and wasn't bad on battery life either. I now own the XR18g. , XR 15g, and now the XR framer. The 15 and 18 I haven't shot even a hundred nails each yet so I can't comment but the framer is solid !
These guns have no issue firing. Multiple reviews show this and I shoot different nails as fast as I want with no issue. The top plate screws need to be tightened and you should be good to go.
This guy is a clown. Look towards the end of the video, he has to set the depth down a lot! So this whole time his depth wasn’t even set correctly. If case you didn’t know for framing you can set your depth all the way down and for sheeting osb or fascia boards you set your depth to where it’s flush on the surface. This guy had the depth wrong the whole demo
Here in the UK, the Dewalt nail guns are all 18 volt, & I use the paper collated nails, Paslode/Senco/Dewalt, so maybe it's the excess plastic jamming up the tool?
Im a Dewalt guy with close to thirty cordless power tools and a few corded ones. Metabo has them beat on cordless nailers. I have their 20 degree framing nailer and their brad nailer. Probably shot a couple thousand nails out of each and have not had a single misfire or jam. They feel just like air powered nailers
I am curious on the weight compared to the Milwaukee? I use all Dewalt tools except nail guns I use Milwaukee. I bought the 18 gauge Dewalt used it for 1 day and took it back and got the Milwaukee.
I wondered if they were just old the nails that weren't firing. Lower had been sitting around and gotten bent up a lot I've had problems just like what you were having with older kind of wore out sticks of nails
I have the 920 and 930 (paper collated) I have never had a single issue so for the people nervous from this video just get the right nails and you’re fine
I'm a home DIY. Looking for a framing nailer for fencing, decking and small sheds. Looking at how heavy and unreliable these battery powered are, i'd rather get the hose one with the compressor.
I rather here compresser once awhile then that noise, plus why the hell aren't DeWalt making all there nailers little smaller, like all other guns out there.
I have the previous version of this gun and I've also tried Metabo's and Milwaukee's offerings. I'd rather drag an air hose around for production work. These are OK for small punch work.
Of course, hold the tip against the palm of your hand, and pull the trigger. You have to make sure the first shot is ready each day. Once that's confirmed, then you just go willy-nilly shooting nails randomly into wood. Thanks for watching.
The Dewalt design team have no idea. This gun had the opportunity to have the magazine set directly under the body instead of being angled, will look better. No need for a 21 degree magazine, do your homework and what type of nail sells the most, just sell one type of nail nine degrees is not gonna change the framing industry, the whole idea should be you can use any manufacturers nails that are readily available. Provide a more aggressive tip, how many reviews can the design team completely ignore… obviously the design team don’t watch videos or listen to their customers. Dewalt have had all these years to have a versatile belt and rafter hook, but only come up with this shit rafter hook …why. The flywheel tech has room to improve but obviously the R&D team didn’t get enough funds to be more creative. Get rid of the bowed handle, nobody else has one…. Tidy up your magazine and just like the Paslode provide a metal strip on the bottom so you push timber without worrying about cracking the magazine. Just like the charged battery nailers which have very limited opportunity to get lighter or better, Dewalts nailer can soon be obsolete due to the manufacturer not investing being creative and sufficient money. That will leave Paslode laughing all the way to the bank.
If you watched the whole video you can see towards the end he had to set the depth all the way down to toe nail 😂 so this whole time he wasn’t even at the right depth of drive for those 3 inch rink shanks 😂 I have this same nailer and I shot lvl’s together the gun had no problem.
@@TBird89 DIY? Is this why most Milwaukee tools come on top for independent reviewers? Is this why the M18 Fuel hammer drill is considered one of the most powerful hammer drills ever built, as well as the M18 impact driver? I seriously think think you should stop dreaming,
This is embarrassing. All my tools are Dewalt 20v with mix of 12v. But come on Dewalt... you send a tool over for testing, did you test it yourself before sending?
This guy is a clown. First he doesn’t have the depth set all the way down for framing, he’s using 16 ring shanks which who uses them for framing? Plus if you did you would pace your shots. As a actual framer I used this framer for my yellow pine girders for my floor system no issues.
This flywheel is a monster and it doesnt jam! And the biggest thing is that you save money not having to buy cartridges. And you can easily maintenance it yourself.
Looks like it works great as long as you use the right type of nails
I have this nailer-no issues right out of the box. Its your nails that are causing these issues. I ran passload brand without one issue.
Ran Passload and went through 2 30 degree dewalts same issue.
I just returned mine had it for a day and it was doing the exact same thing. When it worked it was great but too many issues no matter the nail.

Was thinking about updating to this new one, but it seems like the problem is the same, nails jam.
I saw someone run ring shanks on these with no issues possibly the plastics
I LOVE flywheels! they fly!.. smFh .. and.. DCF860!
Now the obvious question is how does it compare to the TTI rivals? You know the non flywheel type! I think it’s time for a showdown! Please?!
I am curious on the weight compared to the Milwaukee? I use all Dewalt tools except nail guns I use Milwaukee. I bought the 18 gauge Dewalt used it for 1 day and took it back and got the Milwaukee.
It’s pretty light compared to the Milwaukee. I have this dewalt nailer it’s really good. Been using it for little punch out framing.
I wondered if they were just old the nails that weren't firing. Lower had been sitting around and gotten bent up a lot I've had problems just like what you were having with older kind of wore out sticks of nails

I'm a home DIY. Looking for a framing nailer for fencing, decking and small sheds. Looking at how heavy and unreliable these battery powered are, i'd rather get the hose one with the compressor.
Plastic on the hitachi nails is stiff af, use grip tites for softer plastic.
Now you should do a prybar review and take those boards apart
They specifically say to use paper wrapped nails
My dewalt 21 degree previous model did not like grip rite nails.

Paslode will still gobble it up still the best
Paslode air-driven are great but have they came out with a cordless that does not require butane?
@@BellaandBubbies nope they don’t have to they have plenty of of customers that have been using Paslode for 10 m15 ,25 ,30 years
@@BellaandBubbies don’t forget Paslode we’re the very first to come out with a gas battery gun in 1986
I have had several nail guns that will shoot most nails great. but one or two low cost nails would jam.
prettysure its the plastic on ringshanks it sticks out more then the smooth
I wonder could take a flexvolt battery.
Yes, it will take a FlexVolt battery.
Man the only Dewalt framing nailer ive ever seen work properly is mine. 😂 every single other one is trash.

It’s the nails and the person reviewing it. He should of got a different brand of nails to see if that was the issue.
Metabo Hpt >
I think I will stick with Milwaukee lol
That flywheel sound is annoying, can't Dewalt make it quiet?
Some folks prefer it.
JUNK!!!! Good video anyway, Thanks!!!!!
😂😂😂😂😂😂
fix the title DCF920 is the wrong sku
Lots of miss fires for a new nailer.
Still junk, all the cordless nailers are junk except the roofing gun, is great for installing Anderson windows and quick roof jobs.
Yep. All cordless nailers are heavier and slower. I'd rather drag an air hose around.
