Great review Dave! After watching this video and reading some other reviews we pulled the trigger on two padlock 2s. Received last week. Very solid & works like a charm. I'm glad we waited for this 2nd iteration. Thanks for such detailed information. Well done sir.

Yours is the first review/instruction I’ve seen.
I bought the first generation lock, and it failed after about three weeks. I had to cut it off with a Hacksaw to get in my front gate.
I received an email from Igloo saying the padlock 2 is made for outdoor environments. Although it’s expensive, I thought I’d give it a try.
If it fails, I will look for this video again, and try to update my comments.

Did you ever reach out to the company after the first gen unit failed?

    Hi Dave.
    Great review!
How many one time pins can be generated at once?
Could I preset 50 one time Pins and send them to my one time customers?

Hey Dave, we have 2 of these locks now. Everything works well except the "auto open" feature. It's just not consistent. Sometimes it unlocks upon arrival, but most times it doesn't work. This is not a deal breaker, but it's a nice feature when it works. If you still have your padlock 2 would you please let me know if this option works for you on regular? Or is it inconsistent? Thank you.

So no physical key if the battery dies?

Can you easily tell if the lock was inadvertently left unlocked? (Status screen on the app saying whether the lock is currently locked or unlocked)

Many thanks for this hands on video. I would need this for an airbnb to use remotely. Literally from different continents. Can i have a few pre approved codes set so for examole one for the maid one for the gardeners etc? Second question. Will i be able to create codes for guests remotely using the app? Thanks in advance 😊

Is the first generation padlock compatible with the homebridge?

    Great review.
My Padlock (1st gen) lasted two years. That's not acceptable. SoI am very vary to give them my money again.

So if a guest wants access to my summer home, but that property has no wifi, Can I still let in the guest from 500 miles away?

Check with Igloo customer service for your scenario...

If I use Bluetooth to unlock the padlock, how long do I then have to release the shackle? Is it an indefinite amount of time, or does it relock if I don't release the shackle in time?
The scenario is, arriving home with the dog in the back of the car, I want to unlock the backyard gate remotely via Bluetooth from within the car, put the dog on the leash and then lead him to the gate to let him into the back yard. If I can simply pull on the lock to release the shackle having unlocked it while I'm still in the car, it will make everything so much easier. (I will be well within Bluetooth range from the parked car.)
I hope that use case makes sense?

I believe it's a five minute delay between when you "digitally unlock" the padlock and it auto-relocks. You can check with the company to confirm.
