I do have a problem with music. It was a HUGE part of my life before islam. I've gone 2 weeks without music, once. And it was VERY hard. VERY addictive. I admit it. However, at least I KNOW it's haram. I know it's a big problem. HOWEVER.... There are MANY MANY MANY Muslims who straight up REFUSE to accept that it's haram. Which itself is a sign of the end times. I know it's hard, but please, if you're going to listen to it, keep it private and to yourself, and for YOUR sake, don't just passively shrug off... Allah sees what's in your heart.
True, some ppl just wanna show off that we listen to music and stuff but guess what no one gives a damn about what ppl listen. addiction is bad. I was also addicted to movies and series and one day I felt sick to my stomach. Alhamdulillah I stopped wasting my time and my life.
May allah keep us steadfast on our imaan and keep us from going towards sins......
This seems to be more of an issue with the music industry and the capitalization of music. It is the same for other kinds of entertainment and art such as film and actors/actresses. Music itself is not bad, but people can make it bad depending on what their music is about. There are plenty of artists who are good people and they write their songs about real world issues to connect to others. Labeling all music as "bad" and "evil" is inaccurate and unhealthy. I for one have felt a connection to God through the beauty in music and lyrics that actually mean something.
What was forbidden in the quran was "idle talk" (of course idle talk is a waste of time and cause people to sin!), not music. although i must admit that dhikr is better than music, there are music that do not incite people to do evil. they should specify the type of music that should not be listened to. I once watched a video on You tube about Muslims playing classical music on the piano (they call themselves "moderate Muslims") and they are not bad Muslims. Why is it that they seem more strict than the Qur'an?
@@MariaClaudetteCaluban Yes I fully agree. It was idle talk that is forbidden, and idle talk can come in many forms whether it is music or cursing etc. I am not sure why people often make it more strict than what is actually is.
@@MariaClaudetteCaluban I have also heard a story (correct me if I am wrong) about a girl playing a drum inside the prophets house. He didn’t make her stop so I’m not sure where this “forbidden music” comes from.

This is talking more about western musicians instead of music and is too much of a generalisation. For example, what about hind's hall by macklemore? I wish someone would talk about music, as in what actually makes the instruments haram because songs vary too much as do genres.

Just tell them that Allah does not instruct parent's to force children, tell them that your happiness is more important than their cultures or worrying about what other's will think, if they refuse to listen then tell them that Allah asks us to respect our parent's but not obey them!

He means that when we listen to music a a lot of heart gets so much into it that we forget that this world is temporary, we get so much calmn that whenever we worship Allah, the tears that used to come for Allah while worshiping, all of a sudden it stop coming and then finally a time comes that you leave worshiping and forget about Allah, and starts to do sins from little to major , you forget that there's a supreme God watching you who has commanded you not to do certain things .
The part where your tears stops coming for Allah is worst part, and this happens all because of listening music

That’s the only thing we should ask ourselves, and when you do that, you come to the conclusion that it is exactly that personal opinion, like in this video right here. brother in Islam You should know that instruments in certain times and ways were perhibotat, but music is not so even the prophet used to work with music in the authentic hadith it is mentioned exactly and multiple times that it is not haram in general! Just certen instruments and so on, but this topic is just damned due to the fact that a lot of people like Menk tend to avoid suspicious things, allahuma baril, but why change the facts? Let's stay with them and let everybody decide for themselves what they use from the thousands of critical, not haram, things.

I can't believe what I heard! My husbands father was a Freemason. Do you know why they were so secret? The reason why is because they donated thousands of dollars to charities. You have to be very wealthy to belong to this club because of the amount of money which was donated.
I have the up most respect for Mufti Menk, however, unless people know for a fact about something they should keep quiet, gather all of the facts and then decide what to say.

yeah it's understandable. losing ur list of 100s of songs is quite difficult to think about, let alone do. talking from personal experience. but once u do it, u think to urself, "I never needed those 500 songs. I can live just fine without them".

In a hadith narrated by Imam al-Bukhari through the channel of Aisha, the story is told about slave girls who sang at the Prophet Muhammad's house on the occasion of Eid. Abu Bakr was there and by Aisha's side were two slaves who were humming. The content of the song was reminiscent of the massacre of the Ansar in the battle of Bu'ats.
'Ā'ishah says in the hadith that the two slaves were not very good at humming. Then Abu Bakr asked, "The flutes of the devil are in the residence of the Messenger of Allah?" So at that time the Prophet said, "Abu Bakr, every people has a feast day, and now this is our feast day."
Ahmad Zarkasih in his book entitled Songs, Chants and Music, Is it Forbidden? explains, Abu Bakar initially gave a reprimand to the slave but was actually reprimanded by the Prophet SAW. According to Zarkasih, this shows that music and singing are not a problem as long as there is no sin. If music or singing is haram, surely from the beginning the Prophet Muhammad rejected the arrival of these slaves.
Prophet, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam: "Whoever listens to a songstress (female singer), molten lead will be poured into his ears on the Day of Judgment

Know that your fear is a good sign. Keep repeating the shahada as much as possible and learn and call Allqh by his names.
First and foremost you need to repent as this is THE no 1 sin Allah SWT will never forgive anybody for unless they Repent. I would start asap before it's too late Brother!!

Replace by nasheed and naat...there are lots of peaceful Quran recitation also which will remind you about Allah always... And slowly you will loose interest in music.... I haven't listened to music since last Ramadan.... May Allah make it easy for you sister 🤲
Do visit Al Huda Productions channel. They have got very powerful life changing recitations on their channel. I am also uploading recitations mostly from Makkah from time to time, do listen to them. In Shaa Allah the more you listen to the words of Allah recited with such passion and emotions, you will completely lose interest for music over time In Shaa Allah! I was there too once so I can perfectly relate with you, May Allah make it easy for you.
