Jerry is a forgtten genius of the guitar, thanks for keeping him around and maybe insiring the young players....how about a Marcel Dadi original.France lost a great guitarist when he passed in that plane crash so long ago.

Wow! Thanks. I thought I was fully acquainted with all of Jerry's recordings, but this is a doozie. The complexity of his playing is mind-numbing, but he makes it sound so effortless. A true guitar genius. Miss him.

Truly , Jerry is mainly remembered for his acting but his playing and compositions for the guitar are. some of guitars best...

It is Chet Atkins playing. Jerry recorded this tune on his album "Fingers Dancing" much much later.

This is actually Chet Atkins playing Jerry's composition. It can be found on the LP "Chet Atkins picks on Jerry Reed ", one of the best guitar albums ever recorded.

    •  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Mister Lucky and Squirrely are actually played by Jerry Reed himself on the album. If you listen closely you hear that it's Jerry's playing.

@ If anything as a proof is needed that Chet is playing, the run in measure 86 is typical Chet :)

@@boguitar87 wiki says it’s a duet. I hope it’s true because one guy could not play that (?).

Thanks for the Jerry Reed transcription. When Jerry went to Nashville Chet was mainly doing producing...the young Reed inspired Chet to pick up his guitar again .Jeerys playing and compsiitions inspired Chet to record many and the two albums they made should be in any afficionado of guitar"s collection.
That being said how about a transcription of " Blue Finger" or "Stump water" both great examples of the funky and knuckle busting counterpoint of Jerry's guitar imagination.

Good grief Jerry was the man! He is one of the few that Chet designated as a "CGP" which was a Certified Guitar Player and there used to be a music store here in town that had a parking spot right up front that said "CGP's Only" and it was a spot that only Chet and Jerry Reed and Tommy Emmanuel and Marcel Dadi and John Knowles and Steve Wariner could park in because those were the only CGP's that Chet ever designated. Tommy actually done a clinic there once but I don't know if he used the parking spot or not.
