"Between these two channels, you will be so full of joy - reptile-related joy - that you won't have any room in your heart for anything else." LMAO. So much joy! I was really hoping you were going to release this snake video this week, and it turned out better than I even imagined! Even though I am not yet ready to bring a reptile into my life (soon, hopefully!), I absolutely LOVE learning about all of these different species of beautiful snakes! Thank you so much for the wonderful work that you do!

Fun fact: I was bitten by a hungry rosy boa in high school. My science teacher had one and I would hold the snake (a female) every time I was in class. One day, I asked to hold the snake and my teacher warned me that she probably was pretty hungry and he was going to feed her tonight. I said it was cool and he let me hold her. About 5 minutes later, I watched in fascination as she very slowly reached out and grabbed hold of my forearm with her mouth. She latched on and wasn't letting go (no, it didn't hurt!). We had to hold her head under running water and push down on her head to unhook those teeth, then they forced me to get a tetanus shot (???) and call my dad to tell him what happened. My dad's words were, verbatim, "The teacher told you the snake might bite you. It's your own fault. No, you still can't have one."

I think the tetanus was just to be safe like it bitten by a dog. Tetanus is a horrible disease, that is bacteria based. It might be worthwhile to look it up and read about what kind of injuries need a shot. 😊

I watched more and more, found out that a snake isn't just a snake (I knew NOTHING about snakes - had never even held one and didn't even know what they ate or that they came in different colors beyond just "snake"), learned how to properly take care of them, and am the proud momma to not only my German shepherd, but now also to my hypo diffused stripe het anery lavender corn snake :) SO in love

    Some things to add:
    1) The Aspidites are also the only pythons that lack the heat-sensing pits above the upper lip, due to their generalist diet and their hot, sandy natural habitat.
    2) Due to their arboreal nature, GTPs are well-suited to a substrate-free setup, and a wipe-clean enclosure is a huge boon for ease of maintenance.
    3) If/when handling GTPs, you need to be extremely careful removing the snake from their perch, because their tails are easily damaged.
    4) There are dozens upon dozens of natural variations of GTPs, named for the region of Indonesia that they come from. If you're ordering a snake online or off a stock list, the locality(Jayapura, Sorong, Biak) is often listed, and there are specific colour patterns that are associated with them. The highly-desireable blue markings, for example, typically come from Manokwari variations, and occur naturally at higher elevations.

Clint's Reptiles youre my favourite youtuber for insight on these animals, im happy you guys do the best you can to inform people on reptiles and that to me is the most that matters. The two of you have saved a few of my friends pets from unwitting neglect and allowed a few to get over phobias too so thank you both for all that you do 👌

I've been watching snake discovery for a while and finally decided to get a snake of my own. I'm getting a rosy boa soon but in my research its been a trip getting good info (I found one place saying you should only offer water one day a month) so I'm glad I found some trustworthy people talking about them.

5:21 Does anyone else remember that children's book about _"Verde,"_ the green tree python, who was the brightest yellow hatchling and had to grow into his name? I loved that book so much. I've always wanted one, but I've made do with catching and releasing wild corn snakes since I was a kid. As much as I love exotic species, I'm more than content with an anerythristic corn snake.

You guys just helped me decide on rosy boa as my first snake. Was struggling on whether to chose it or the sand boa, and since you said they are great for a lot of the same reasons, im going with the rosy boa as I live in a high humidity area, and they like it just a tiny bit wetter, which means less fighting against the natural conditions. My only concern was temperament, and now thats gone.

On the issue of the false water cobra, the former herpetoloy curator of the columbus zoo and aquarium Mike Goode once had one chew on his arm and he told the reptile staff to lable these snakes as venomous. I have handled them at the zoo when i was a intern there but i never really rehandled them. i always had a snake hook because like you mentioned they are very food motivated and they have to be "shown" that there isn't food. That was one reason why we always feed them in a tub with a lid. I love your channel and i love snake discovery.

Rosy Boas are my favourite out of the snakes you guys showed. My local pet store actually has 2 rosy boas. The store owner is really nice so I go almost every week and socialize the snakes so they get use to handling and the rosy boas are super docile. Such cute sweethearts.
