  • This video is an entry to Tourism Ireland's Jump into Ireland competition. We've been looking for the best video of Ireland, and we've got a luxury holiday in Ireland worth €1,500 to swap for the winning video.
Produced by Declan Casy, he says, "this is a video I made in my spare time about the people of Cork's reaction to the Queen's visit."

Cork people are warm, funny and friendly. I lived in Douglas for six years, with a Cockney accent. Not once was anyone but lovely to me and my young family. X

What a lovely video . I recall at the time being somewhat annoyed that the BBC was very keen to speak to the nay sayers . The Queen's visit to Cork got hardly any airplay - if any . I only recall reading about the warm welcome she got in Cork much later . Big up to the beautiful people of Cork for their warm hearts and warm welcome . I think it was the next Glastonbury that Bono sang ' Jerusalem ' which was also a wonderful moment of reconciliation. Peace and Love everyone ✌️🕊️

By the very fact that you are calling her "the Queen" makes me feel that you feel she is still your Queen. Would you call the Queen of Spain, "the Queen? or the president of France "the president" No you wouldn't because we have our own president.

I think it's generally accepted that when someone refers to The Queen, they are referring to Queen Elizabeth, especially in english speaking countries. And since this video relates to Queen Elizabeth's visit to Cork, it's fairly obvious who is being spoken about. If there was a video of the Queen of Spain visiting Ireland any references to The Queen would be referring to the Queen of Spain.
