A non-music video? You got it! The 2015 Reunion TV show of Floor's Rock Academy class. Consider it a lovely mini-documentary about her. English subbed, done for Dutch TV. It was partly shot on site at the Nightwish Tampere 2015 concert. Floor's parents were there in the crowd. They were interviewed right after the sound check. There's also a "day after" interview with Floor opening up about the terrible burn-out she suffered in 2011/12. That was less than one year before she got the famous phone call from Tuomas. There's also Tuomas' famous words: "She's right at home, doing this".
So here goes, Floor "back to school" with her former classmates from the Rock Academy: "Floor Jansen in Dutch show Reunion (Tampere 2015)". Tip: make the docu window as big as possible, so ppl can read the subtitles. Here's the link tt right version - th-cam.com/video/zRqqma4kWIg/w-d-xo.html (DON'T use the one with the most views, it gets out of sync after 30sec). Cheers from Amsterdam!
Agree, and her facial expression during the interview with her parents is priceless
@@zbygniewprlwytzkofsky6614 Those moments are pure gold, as is the little sentence she sneaks in there. Unfortunately didn't make it into the subs: "Moet ik even weggaan?" (you want me to leave for a sec?)
if you are crazy enough, you can check the documentary "please learn the set-list in 48h" when in the middle of the world tour , they changed the vocalist from Annette to Floor.
In mythology dolphins were viewed as being fish with the souls of sailors, who had drowned at sea, trapped inside. So setting the dolphins free would be more about freeing the trapped souls so that they may rest in peace away from the devil’s deep dark ocean.
Kai is in “Beast Mode” on the drum kit 🤘🤘
They were super fortunate to be blessed with both Jukka and Kai…two phenomenal drummers who melded so perfectly with this phenomenal band 🤘🤘
You are right…Floor and Marko team up for the “siren” or some call it the “banshee” in Romanticide
Hi Lauren. When everybody thinks that Floor is being theatrical, she is actually lifting her arms above her head to open-up her lungs for a more sustained breath.
I mean it definitely is also theatrical 😉 but yeah I do remember that being a technical thing as well. Thanks for the reminder!
Hats off to the lighting guys on this beautiful song 😊
I always look forward to this one from my favorite Nightwish reactors. I just love the theatrical nature of this, and it's probably my favorite Floor vocal performance. And Kai is back there going absolutely ham on the drums.
They also play different characters in "Ghost River" (Wacken 2013), but it's less conversational and theatrical than this one.
Hi Lauren, greetings from UK
I think Marko is The Devil and Floor is a mermaid. He is chatting her up but she is having none of it 😊
And I like you delving into the story, as those songs basicly all tell some story (and as a non-native english speaker I usually don't get it all)
It doesn't matter whether the interpratations are what Tuomas had in mind or not, they all bring fresh perspectives in the songs. And Tuomas himself is reluctant to give the meanings even when asked to - as he wants leave space for people to feel and think what the songs mean to them.
And the literal / symbolic take on things - they might be sometimes not at point, but they're interesting, too, and bring some other thoughts to the listeners (or for me at least)
So, You do You. Thank you for that all. ❤
Agree, greatest conversation in rock history was probably by Meatloaf. I think lyrics by Tuomas have often a fairy tale or mythical story background, and can be interpreted in more than one way. The last few albums are more about science, nature and human society.
Thank you for the great reaction.
So you like the growl of Floor..... well then maybe you should check out 'Yours is an empty hope' from mexico or Buenos Aires.
There are blank black eyes in the background flames through most of the song. When Floor gets to freeing the dolphins, the eyes are gone. I love that. Nightwish is so deliberate in everything they do.
Tuomas is not a big fan of growling so you will not hear that Revamp style growling in Nightwish, but if she is allowed, he can not suppress a big smile 🙂

The cool effect you mentioned at 3:35 is called a diminuendo or a decrescendo (going gradually from loud to soft without losing power on your tone🤓)
I'd say that there are some influences from musical theatre in both Nightwish's music and live performances. Floor actually studied musical theatre, though only for a year or so. Thanks for the reaction/analysis!
🇫🇮❤Without going too much into detail, "Devil & the Deep Dark Ocean" explores themes of longing, power, darkness, and the potential for redemption and transformation in a fantastical realm. It alludes to the allure and dangers of temptation, as well as the cyclical nature of life, death, and rebirth.
LOL! At around 8:00, I was thinking about Meatloaf, then you said it. Yeah, it reminds me of them, too. Paradise by the Dashboard Lights. I saw them live when I was 16 in Buffalo, NY.
Just ❤...and same to you Lady .❤
Welcome to the Nightwish army (Dutch division)! Wishing you a great journey down the rabbit hole from Nightwish!
When you're ready for it see...yours is an empty hope and the poet and the pendulum (but first read the background information and see the Wembley version).
Marco is the Devil trying to have his way with Floor the Mermaid but she's having none of it
What impressed me the most about this performance?
Floor wasn't even 100%! When the band got to South America, they had all caught a flu. Floor was not yet completely over it when she sang this song.
Yes, and a few days (Oct. 4th) later in Bogota she could hardly talk, but still soldiered through the entire show.
Yours is an empty hope live at Wembley 2015 is what you want is you didn't do it yet😁
Here Nightwish goes musical. I think you can hear that very clearly.
This is one of the deep cuts from Nightwish's 2nd album 'Oceanborn' in 1998... 'Stargazers' is a great song from that record... There is a phenomenal live clip of the song 'The Pharoah sails to Orion' w/ Tarja on vocals and feat. Tapio Wilska on male vocals. Link below:

INTERVIEW with MARKO HIETALA (subtitles) here`s the latest one from Marko's latest solo gig. (since he left Nightwish for personal health reason)
"Set the dolphins free". 😅🐬🐬🐬
I hesitated to ask for this track. After seeing reactions on other 'mythological' songs. The real meaning of this song I didn't grab eather. With this kind of music it's risky to expect anything. It's about the devil and a mermaid. And the devil is rejected and can walk away with his tail between his legs. That's what I understand...
Nice reaction 👍🤘🎶
This is a great analysis of Floor’s vocals using software that analyzes pitch and either inclusion or exclusion of any pitch-correction that may have been used to tweak vocal accuracy.

Best line: "...for you are the creator of the image of God!" or what we shall think, how God is all about, e.g. that he needs your admiration, your service, your obedience. Therefore "his" churches are used to slay thousands...
🤗🍒🤘🏻😘 well done girl
"Good God-dess!" Some one had to! (jk)
Yeah please watch the actual Nightwish Movie Imaginaerum. And decipher that. Thank you
when making theololgical assumtions about Tumas's songs it is well to keep in mind that a fundamentalist materialist atheist.
My line is... that here the states and oilcompanies are arguing about the pollution of the sea and what will be paid and who will clean it up. Someone always cheats and breaks contracts. But ...thats not romantic line. 👺💋🕳💩💔
Here is the analysis video by 'Wings Of Pegasus' where they analyse Floor's voice

And with this one they analyse the song "Ghost Love Score" (this is more like a technical reaction video)

'Wings Of Pegasus' also analyse other bands so you may wish to check them out further
🤩👍💥💯🎶

Nice reaction... non-music? You are a bartender and I love tequila... Something with drinks and tips?
Next time look more on the thing you're reacting to. And if you're more interested in something else, don't do a reaction video.
When she’s looking over she is looking at lyrics you fool. She has 2 screens.
If you want to be taken seriously, and don't want to look like another silly murican, my sugestion would be to start with removing those silly dolls on the left.
And have a couple of beers/wines and enjoy the musical freedom that we have in the civilised world. ;-)
America invented the civilized world! I don’t know where your from but if it weren’t for America you would be speaking German right now!
1st time listening, stop trying to figure out the meaning, and just listen and enjoy. 99% of the time you will get wrong.
I don't claim this to be factual, but it was always my understanding that Marko is the devil who is enamored with the queen of the mermaids, Floor. He tries to seduce her and when he fails, in his anger tries to enslave the creatures of the oceans. Floor, the queen, is able to escape his charms and free the dolphins and other sea creatures to fight back the devil and free the oceans. They do something kind of similar in The Siren where floor plays a siren calling a ship captain, Marko, into the rocks with her beauty and song.
Ooh, nice! I like it
Wow. Dunno if it is or isn't that, but I like your interpretation ❤
