Two things. 1) A roadie/tech handed her an untuned guitar? WTF? 2) She didn't tune it by ear, you can see her looking down at her tuner pedal. Bonus #3, I'm not even sure someone with perfect pitch would have an easy time tuning an (essentially) unplugged electric by ear over crowd noise while carrying a conversation. I'm always so confused when people put normal musicianship on some kind of pedestal. I mean, sure, it's a talent/skill, but it's not magic, especially here. The original has a laid back swing that loads up the chorus for an emotive eruption. This cover, despite the dynamic change from the solo to full band in the beginning, never captures that build, it just chugs along until the chorus, which has no dynamic impact to differentiate it from the verse other than Phoebe's airy, shouted lyrics. It's a middle of the road, dive bar band quality cover. It's not bad, but for a signed, certified singer/guitarist, this is sub-par. Time to find better search results for covers of this song.@@therapist_insanity
Open E (E-B-E-G#-B-E), capo 3. That, however, increases the string tension a bit, so an alternative would be to tune a whole step down to open D and capo 5, if you want to stay in the same key.
you need better speakers or better ears. Yes, is not very clear and you can't understand the words clearly but it's there. Also why are you complaining about it like this is a pro studio recording?

God I love her voice. She really step up for this one. Here's to her doing more soulful songs like this on her next album.
She’s trash. Weakest voice in the industry aside from Billie Eilish.
She's not from this planet....
I absolutely love this song and she did the best rendition I havr ever heard!
This one's actually better..

i love the contrast between her dress and her guitar
screaming and crying this is a work of art she’s a literal angel
This girl is freaking princess of the fucking earth
During one of the darkest hours of human existence, may she continue to be a source of bright, shining light
One of the darkest hours of human existence? What is this, 536 AD?
That song was nonsense when it came out. Poorly written…
Amen, brother.
turn off the tv, normie. Darkest hours? grow up. get a job
Phoebe was born in’94, the song was 1996, Cheryl was a cover girl!! Phoebe has a better voice! The song was iconic, haters aside!
Was at this show, what a great moment.

Haters gonna hate. Great job bud u nailed it.
Dear Phoebe. Sweet song😍
she tuned her guitar by ear?? thats mad impressive
8th graders do it.
@@anthonyfuchs9787 and it is still a skill that not everyone has? so what if 8th graders do it??
Yeah, it's not "mad impressive" though.

Grande Sheryl Crow
1:40 song starts
Does anyone know what chords she uses for this cover??
Help me here. What was she referring to in LA that is just down the street from her?
Trader Joe’s, the grocery store. There had been a shooting there that morning
@@TheHbyH oh ok. Thanks
Can anyone tell what tuning her guitar is in?
what i’m trying to know too

@@marknomura7453 thanks 👑
@@marknomura7453 you rock mark
What was she talking about in the beginning?
Earlier that morning at a Trader Joe’s in LA there had been a hostage situation / police shooting of a civilian

She is wearing the dress I wore to wedding!
3:50 get it, girl!

If you know the words it makes me happy...lol.
Can't hear her vocals except on the chorus.

@@ErimlRGG I heard other live music by Phoebe and I can hear her just fine, so it's not my ears or my gear!!

Need to let the guitar guy have a little more run.
Is this a new song?
Not new, this is Phoebe covering Sheryl Crow’s song from 1996
It's like, fucking dark, like, what's happening, like, with the government right now, like.....
Voice of a generation.
Ya, that was bad.
She is a brilliant musician, not so much public speaker😬
it's not as though there's any nuance to a discussion in your stupid broken country lol, there's nothing to talk about
Screaming Females do a great cover of this song.
This would be good live, but on TH-cam, it just isn't. Her voice is unintelligible. You literally can't hear it. Just mumbles.
@@venusmantrap6238 but this was 4 years ago...
