The unit I bought arrived with damage to the generator cover. When started, the generator burned out. Called customer service and they were very helpful. Taking it for local repair rather then send it back. Parts and labor covered. I bought one of these in 2018 and have been very happy with it, but it's time for a replacement.
I should note that when the generator delivered it was supposed to arrive about noon. It actually arrived at about 9 pm. The driver said he had "tire trouble". He was in a hurry and pressured me to sign for the delivery before I'd had adequate time to inspect the box. Due to the late hour, I was unable to inspect the unit properly before signing for it. If I had, I'd have made the driver acknowledge the damage or I'd have refused to sign.
Update: It took two weeks but I got the generator back from the repair person. I fired it up and while it seemed to run fine, It wouldn't put out any electricity. I took it back to the shop the next day.
It's been another week so I called the repair shop. The repairman said the motherboard was fried. He said Westinghouse was going to reach out to me to tell me they'd be sending a replacement unit. He expressed surprise that they hadn't done so already.
On August 26th I sent Westinghouse an email requesting an update on the status of my claim. To date, they haven't responded. I'd try calling but it's always a 30+ minute wait on hold.
Today, August 29, I still haven't gotten a response from Westinghouse.
August 30, I called WH and spoke with Carla via telephone. She said someone was supposed to call me back yesterday but that didn't happen. Gave her my case #. She said they'd be shipping me a new generator via FedEx and that it would go out today. She said I should receive the new unit within 5 to 10 days. She said I would receive an email with the shipping info today. I did receive an email from WH, but all it said was "unit was damage during shipping, alternator cover was damage, service center tech took off the cover inside of alternator was damage, tech tried to start the unit and it started smoking, exhausted labor time. Feel free to contact us through this email, and our Service Team will be happy assist you. Please reference (redacted)." No shipping information was included or confirmation that the new generator would be sent.
September 5th. Yesterday I sent an email to WH requesting an update on my claim and shipping information. As of this writing, they've not responded. I contacted WH via chat. She told me I'd have to call tech support. I called tech support and waited 10+ minutes on hold. The person that finally answered said she couldn't access any information about my case but that she could only forward the information to the tech that's supposed to be handling it. She took my phone numbers and email address and said someone would be contacting me. I told her I was documenting everything on Amazon. Nobody ever contacted me.
After a few days, I contacted the service center and explained that WH had stopped communicating with me. I asked him to go ahead and order a new motherboard and I would pay labor and parts out of pocket. He agreed.
On September 20th I received a telephone call from WH. He said the unit I purchased, WGen7500DF is discontinued. He said, if I agreed, they could send a WGen7500DFC. I agreed.
On September 23rd I called WH and told them I'd not yet received notice that the new generator had been sent. I was told the generator was in route and would be delivered September 24th. I then received an email stating the generator had been shipped with a hyperlink to the freight company.
The freight companies Web page indicated the generator would be delivered at noon on September 24th. I waited at home for the delivery but it didn't come. I called the freight company and they said it was to be delivered to an address in Spring, Texas. I called WH again (another 15 minutes on hold) and learned that the generator had been shipped to the repair facility in Spring and that I should pick it up there. I should note, I'd already made two trips to the repair facility in Spring a round trip of over 80 miles. Now I had to make a third.
September 25th, I drove down to the repair facility and picked up the new generator and brought it home. Since I had appointments in the afternoon I was unable to set it up and test it immediately.
I ordered the first unit on July 18th. September 26th, I set up and tested the new WGEN7500DFc I picked up yesterday. It seemed to test out fine. Hopefully, this is the end of my two month headache. My main complaint is with the poor customer service, particularly not receiving return phone calls or emails. I hope they find another shipping company. The first one damaged the generator with a fork lift and rather than taking responsibility they tried to weasel out of it by slipping it past me. Shame on them.

Wow, I truly hope I don't have problems with m westinghouse wgen145000tfc, which I just received about a week ago. So far, all seems good. It came very well packaged. It's way bigger than I expected. I put it together, put oil and fuel in it, fired it up and ran it for 5 hours to break it in, like the instructions say. So far, the 20A outlets put out good power. I connected a space heater to it. When I get a chance, I'm going to connect it to my house and have it power my house for a few hours or so to confirm the 50A outlet works and the voltage looks good. Clearly, it seems like this is a brand where you cross your fingers and hope it works because if there are any issues and you have to deal with customer service, it's a nightmare.

July - early Aug 2024 looked for a tri fuel and decided on this model. When I tried to buy it, multiple sources had on their web pages that it was back ordered and then some noted this it would not be carried anymore. I thought that the lack of supplies was because this was a very good unit and because of a recent hurricane passing though the area. So I decided to buy the WGen 10500TFc and also through Lowes. After viewing this video, I am a bit worried.

I purchased a WGen5300 ~45 days ago. It was ~2 wks before I could fire it up. The CO sensor kept shutting it down eventhough it was outdoors & nothing near it in a 10ft radius. I waited a day to see if maybe it just needed a little "break-in" time. The same thing happened...3 mins to shutdown. Wasting time w/Tech Support scares me. I want to find out how to defeat the CO sensor ... I just want a generator to work & don't need a stupid CO sensor. We've somehow survived without them for 100yrs. Any ideas?

I have the same one, I have not had this issue but right out of the box mine would not start on its own with the key fob. I had to stand next to it and hold the choke and it would start like that. Then my house just got hit by lightning last night and took the power out. I had to go hook it up and it wouldn’t start. I had to use starting fluid to start it and then it ran fine. So if you’re not mechanical DO NOT BUY THIS ONE. nothing but issues with mine. I guess the start switch often fails too. Never again Westinghouse for me.

So sorry you’ve had these difficulties. I ordered this unit because the electrician who worked on my home had one in the back of his pickup and said he’d recommend it. Mine arrived damaged and Westinghouse wouldn’t ship a replacement until mine was on the way back, which was a major chore and left me vulnerable to another power outage. they failed to consider the dire need we have in Texas due to our fragile power grid. Also, no on around me tends their trees and they will drop branches on power lines on windy days. Good luck and stay safe.

Sorry to hear that you're having such a bad experience with your generator. I just recently picked up a westinghouse wgen145000tfc and ran it 5 hours, as the instructions recommended. So far, so good. It had no damage during shipping and it is generator power out of its 20A outlets just fine. I just set up a 50A interlock inlet box and breaker yesterday and will connect it to the house and see if the 50A outlet produces power as it should.
Maybe you should just demand your money back from Lowers and if they refuse, take them to small claims court? If it was an older generator out of warranty, I'd tell you to take it to someplace like Home Depot. I've had one generator that had voltage regulator issues and they fixed it. While I was there, I saw that they were fixing generators from brands they didn't sell, so it seemed they'd be willing to fix any generator. But again, you shouldn't have to go down that road with a brand new generator. Hopefully mine continues to work. Good luck.

Use it once last winter to run my whole home . It work fine !
Then earlier this year I tried to run it. I didn’t drain fuel and add some Fuel stabilizer to tank . But anyway it will not start on Gas , so I hook up LP gas to it , it started right up but after 30 seconds it shut down after c02 Light came on it was out in open air . I found a video where a man took the Sensor and tape the holes. I did that and it started right up and ran fine . So I took the tape back off and it ran fine also ! I recommend trying to reach their customer service department before buying, just to see whether they have an answering service, as is the case with Westinghouse. I bought an Ai Power unit and a four year extended warranty through Amazon for less than the cost of the Westinghouse unit. It lacks some bells and whistles, but it arrived free of damage and Amazon sent frequent updates on where the truck was.
