- For a product that gets such good reviews, the customer service side is dismal and should be ashamed of themselves. In short, I don’t recommend this product. Find a company that will answer the phone right away and send help.
He's right, customer support SUCKS!!!!! New unit, started twice. Apparently the power switch is dead, fully charged battery, fuses good, switch on, nothing. Glad I found this out before I actually needed it.
Absolutely right! I called Customer Support about my WGEN 12000 not starting (just clicks.) The support rep was so uninterested and did not talk much. I was doing all the talking. They finally stated that I should take it to a service center, DUHHH!! Maybe I should take it to the trash recycle center, because it is a pile of trash for $2500. The unit has 50 hours on it and it is like new. Westinghouse products have been made in China for years,. so I am not surprised of the poor quality of WH products. I will NEVER EVER buy another WH products!!!!
Customer support still sucks. Bought new Wgen10500FTC and would not start. Filled out service request online and called 6 times. Did get one person to help troubleshoot but still would not start. Every time I called they said someone would call me back but still crickets.
Going to lowes was your first mistake. It's their 3rd party handlers .
What I hate about the Wgen9500 is constantly having to replace the carb gasket [fuel leak]. Maybe all generators have this issue, IDK, but it sucks.
I had a unit that was sputtering and looked like it was starving of fuel. Made ticket with Westinghouse and they still havent gotten back with me.
I purchased a WGen5300 ~45 days ago. It was ~2 wks before I could fire it up. The CO sensor kept shutting it down eventhough it was outdoors & nothing near it in a 10ft radius. I waited a day to see if maybe it just needed a little "break-in" time. The same thing happened...3 mins to shutdown. Wasting time w/Tech Support scares me. I want to find out how to defeat the CO sensor ... I just want a generator to work & don't need a stupid CO sensor. We've somehow survived without them for 100yrs. Any ideas?
I have one, (WGen9500C), that one of the 20 amp GFCI outlets that don't work.
I bought one of these as well as a Generac 8000 a month apart. The Generac just keeps on running without a flaw and the Westinghouse keeps having break down problems I have to solve beginning with the fuel line rotting through while in storage.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention Michelangelo. We will be in touch soon.
Glad to hear this im considering ordering 3.!! Glad to hear.!!!!!
Same thing happened to me brand new generator won’t start awful in the summer heat
Thanks for sharing.
Did you put mid-grade gas in I've had mine for a couple of year. Has less than 100 miles on. Now it won't start.
It's likely a screw that needs to be backed up or screwed in more. This is what controls the idle speed and it's visible ontop of the motor.
I have the same negative experiences with our new 4500Df. Their customer service is should be renamed Customer Dis-service
My brand new same as your generator surges and runs rough.
Lil longwinded but thnx
Pur hased a 3600. Weastinghouse electric start dual fuel gen in july 2023 after 6 months won't start. Been told customer s uppo would be in contact tried 3 x srill no response.
