gives me chills, too. i rode that train for awhile around 2007, but couldn't quite take my eyes off the skies... one prayer a couple years later changed everything for me. took awhile, but that was more my own stubbornness when God would present something to me that my sinful, self-righteous heart didn't want to hear. i stuck with God regardless and after 7 years of nonsense i'm finally, FINALLY free from it as of September 2014 and i'm both feeling better now and doing a bit better every day. Chris Trompeter, sorry that went off before I could complete what I wanted to say. anew... to walk in HIS path for you. To destroy everything that will destroy you, to take control of your mind, heart, soul and spirit do that there is nothing but The SPIRIT OF CHRIST in you.
I Road that long black train and had a lot of sorrows and i had a lot of pain, but then one night as my life was about to crash and burn,Jesus met me on the way.Thank you Jesus for mercy and grace on me an old sinner.

Paige, go to CHRIST WHO Died that we may get to heaven- believe me, there is a heaven and a hell. Im happy that they still bring you comfort. As someone who actually came to Christ late in life, I respect your decision and I hope that life is peaceful for you and you never lose sight of what gives you light, what is good and right, and that you always walk a path that in the end will make you proud.
This is my daddys favorite song, before he passed away 3 years ago. Today's his birthday and I decided to play his favorite song for him ❤️ happy birthday daddy! The big 52 in heaven drink your cold ones
It’s hard to believe this was a hit on country radio and TV. Today, it takes much more courage to proclaim your faith. GOD is good All if the time. Bless you
Anytime I sing this song, I break down in tears. My grandmother and I would listen to his album and specifically this song on our way to her home 2 hours from mine everytime she came to get me. Its my way to cope with the loss and remember her, since I don't ever show that at the funeral.
My Mamaws funeral was today. This was her favorite song. I learned it for her when I was a little girl and used to play it for her. They sang it today at her service and I swear she was there clapping along.
I don't even like country. Never did, but this is a great song with a great message. I was on that train for most of my life. When the lord pulled me off it, I never looked back.
A really good song sung by Josh Turner. The message behind this song tells the absolute truth. We need to turn to the direction that leads to the Light of God and we need to turn away from the darkness of the devil.
I completely agree, the background of this song is clear when you listen to it, you always need to stick with God and everything will be absolutely fine.
I have to admit I've never been a big country music fan but when my step mother sang this song during our family Karaoke night I fell in love with it. When she asks for song requests I always tell her to sing this. Just a meaningful, powerful, loving song!
It is never too late to get off the train! So I saved it on TH-cam because my copy of Josh’s CD went all crazy. I have witnessed miracles through Christ’s love and sacrifice by earnestly asking for forgiveness of my sins and transgressions. Get a Holy Bible, and find a Church you believe in and watch what happens!
Hi everyone. I just wanted to chime in and say I used to sit very close to the engineer of the Long Black Train. For some background, I was swearing every other word at ten years old. Also, I was so far away from God. But, about three years ago, I renewed my faith and have decided to become a preacher. As well, it has been about three years since I swore last. Victory in Jesus! He saved me from myself and I thank Him! May God Bless you all!
I want to dedicate this song to my 99 year old Pappaw . He served our country in the Navy and spent his life working in a steel mill to support our family . thank you Pappaw for always reminding me that I can find love and forgiveness in Christ.
Cmon guys! The lyrics r good, the songs good, it serves a good purpose! Cuz there's victory in the Lord I say victory in the Lord, Cling to the Father and His Holy Name and don't go ridin on that long black train!
In my experience this song really helps me with what I've been thru it helped me when I was getting off drugs and praise the good lord I've been clean for 6 years now
took me a long time to fully understand this song. This was one of my fathers favorite songs. I know now why he made me listen to this. he went on that long black train.
Church speaks the truth because when you sugar coat things he makes people think some of the things they do aren't so bad Trust god be patient he has a plan don't get caught up in materialistic things trust god read the bible stay connected and live by ur faith and you won't regret it when u die I promise
One of my favorite songs. It hard to listen to because it was played at my best friends funeral. It'll be 4 years ago next Friday (march 25th). We were in 9th grade when he died. Miss HIM so much, it hurts so much!
This song was played at my grandpa funeral. Miss him more and more everyday. Never thought I wouldnt get to tell him goodbye or i love you one last time. This world dosent seem the same without him. I wish he didnt have to go,But god calls the good ones. Fly high grandpa. Forever in my heart and never forgotten. I love you and hope you know that 💔😭
I lost my grandpa too, and this song always makes me think of him. He was such a huge presence for me and helped to instill my faith. But they say if the ones who've passed on are still in your heart, and live on through your memories and stories, part of them is still alive!
I'm country, raised Christian, baptized, saved, all that. I've grown up and become a bhuddist, yet I listen to this song as it reminds me of my great grandfather who was a preacher and only passed on once *I* told him it was OK. Even if life has shaken my previous faith and led me to new beliefs this song still holds great power and love in my heart
I always enjoy hearing this song & singing along to it. The Coronavirus situation caused the churches in my hometown to shutdown during the summer of this year and during my free time I would play this song over & over again before going to bed. Recently, I got back into the joy of being back at church. I sure do wish that churches all over the world would play this song. Great song with a great spiritual message to it. In times of strife, we all need to, as the lyrics say, cling to the Father and his Holy name. So far, the Coronavirus hasn't got me. Never got infected with it. Praise be to God for keeping me safe from it.
This was my grandparents funeral song my grandma pass in 2009 and my papa died in 2012 and I miss both of them dearly I could have used them today. God Bless all of you🙏
The churches will slowly die. But God lives on through the purest expressions of belief and love like this one. I guess there are some that might call me dumb or whatever, but find God and Jesus on your own terms. We'll all see Him one day. Take your time with spirituality, don't ever rush things. Just make sure you take the time to explore. And take the time for yourself as well. Try and keep love in perspective...dogma and other influences easily fog your vision. Doesn't mean you should shut off from the world and sequester yourself in religion, I've seen so many people do it. But just live life in love as much as you can. You'll eventually see some sort of light at the end of the tunnel. God bless.
+La Force Productions doesn't mean that he killed him, he just beat him, Jesus has now saved us to where we can now get to heaven through him and we are now closer to God

I think this may be mine and my uncles favorite song. He died a few years back. and when I was really little me and my grandpa would sing it when we went to church. I just love this song so much!
Thinking about you today Grandma Melvin. This was the song you always listened to this was the singer you always listened. I can't believe its going to be another Christmas without you. I love and miss you.
That's kind of music I listen to all the time I'm kinda bored and getting back to my roots and Gary is that yo don't like my music just send me all you like it I don't please nobody on please and I please my father I please him I don't please nobody
I Can't I won't I can't do this alone I need Jesus in my life I have no strength I have no anything without him Christ I need to have strength Thank you father Please bless everyone and help them to feel your love and joy Amen
Josh Turner is a Christian, He (In my eyes) is talking about the conductor of the train being the devil and the train itself is hell. He is saying look to God and he will save you. Sin looks so good but don't fall for it. It is really terrible.
I agree with you that the driver is the devil, but believe that the train is the thrilling ride that you go on when you choose your own way a sin. The "destination in the middle of nowhere" is the unwanted destination of he//.
YES!! tell them DONT GO RIDING ON THAT LONG BLACK TRAIN!!!!! it's not worth the pain!!! there's victory in the Lord! claim to the father and his holy name!!!
Lean to God and He will help you, He loves you more then you know, He loves all his children...whatever you may be dealing with He has u in his arms, plz if drugs plz seek help I know 3 ppl who just passed from it in past 3 yrs, it's a deadly epidemic
You better make sure your right with God before Jesus comes back. I pray for everyone. Lost or saved. Pray for the lost to come to accept Jesus as their personnel Lord and savior and pray for the saved. That we can come together as 1 accord and worship our mighty God and bring the lost to him.
As a Christian i fell daily i sin daily but theres power in the name of Jesus we need more and more music like this and more christians to come together and speak the word of God i myself have problems dailey and sometimes i wanna curl up in a ball in cry but Jesus is my life wraths he my savior and he is that way towards everyone read your bible daily love him worship the true God repent and be baptized and the name of Jesus Christ
Is it weird that im pagan and still love gospel country i love artists like josh turner and randy travis always be proud of your beliefs no matter what
I loved this song the first time I heard it and I love the meaning behind the song as well.i love Josh's songs and music , he's one of the good ones as far as I'm concerned.
my grandpa always plays this song on his guitar and it's my favorite song to hear, because I know the meaning of this I've been on that train for a long time but my grandpa never gave up on me and now I can say that I am no longer on that train.
Love this song! There was a time that I was buying drugs illegally, and doing them as well. Partying, and didn't care. And then on January, 7th, 2011 I was involved in a drug raid while at my now ex-best friend, her brother, and her now ex-boyfriend's house when the NRH TX Police and S.W.A.T. Team busted in. I was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, and my bound was set at 2,500. I made bail the next day, when it came time to appear in Court I was put on a year Probabtion, had to take random drug testing, pay 350 bucks in Court fees, $60 a month, and take a dope class and drug couseling. I started my Proba March, 31st, 2011, and got off March, 31st, 2012. Thank God the Judge dropped my charge from a Felony to a Misdemeanor. But I leaned my lesson. Left that kinda life behind, FOR GOOD! And haven't looked back since! God is good ALL THE TIME! And ALL THE TIME? God is good! Praise Jesus!!! 🛐✡⛪🕍✝🙏📿🙇☝👑.
Give your problems to God and you will be delivered. I asked God to help me quit smoking weed. I was arrested. Granted, that wasnt the solution I wanted. But I'm sober and clear headed now and it's thanks to God I got my feet on solid ground again!
@@ethanbrown2900 Same. Never touched one drug, drop of alch, crumb of ganja, nothing. In all my 26byears of life, clean as a whistle. So I cant relate either.
GOD IS REAL AND I WAS RIDING THAT TRAIN TILL GOD SAVED MY SOUL AND THANK GOD IM FREE AND AM NO LONGER IN SIN AND THE DEVIL CANT DO ANYTHING TO HURT ME BECAUSE I BELONG TO GOD IM A CHILD OF THE KING AND EVERY THING THAT I HAVE EVER DONE IS UNDER THE BLOOD I LOVE YOU JESUS
Thank You Ron for singing this and sharing with me one of your Favourite Songs Of Josh Turner! I loved your explanation of the song, where it was headed and who was driving the train. It is very confrontational and makes people think where “The Long Black Train,” is headed. My Sweet Spiritual Man that You Are! God Bless You Ron 🙏🏻

You always used to sing this to me, I miss you dad.
this song has so much potential love this song
God bless.

i
Went to steam town with my husband today and sang the song all day. Don’t seem to get too many memories like that anymore!
we need a lot more music like this
The lord has beaten the devil
If that were true why is he still around? You also know that the Devil(Lucifer) was one of God's Angels right?
+La Force Productions doesn't mean that he killed him, he just beat him, Jesus has now saved us to where we can now get to heaven through him and we are now closer to God
satan read the Bible also, and he knows he has lost, but the earth was his domain.. Sin in pretty and enticing until it gets you hooked...when the Lord returns Satan will be sent to Hell with the sinners forever...read the Bible.
And always will.
Satan, along with the existence of sin will be forever eradicated, destroyed and sin will perish. Not burning in hell for eternity. Www.amazingfacts.org

Lawrence Clark i thought the train was sin and the pain that goes with it and the "middle of nowhere" is hell
YES!! tell them DONT GO RIDING ON THAT LONG BLACK TRAIN!!!!! it's not worth the pain!!! there's victory in the Lord! claim to the father and his holy name!!!
Noah Abel exactly
Amen

I pray for everyone. Lost or saved. Pray for the lost to come to accept Jesus as their personnel Lord and savior and pray for the saved. That we can come together as 1 accord and worship our mighty God and bring the lost to him.

Praise the Lord Jesus!
See you in heaven ! 🎉
I was listening to this in my truck when it was super hot out and I was sweating but this song still gave me chills
This was sung at my friend's funeral yesterday...he was so young. Miss you Ethan...RIP
my grandpa always plays this song on his guitar and it's my favorite song to hear, because I know the meaning of this I've been on that train for a long time but my grandpa never gave up on me and now I can say that I am no longer on that train.
Good for you, never having gone through that I can't say I relate. I do know several people who have gone through that.
are u still doing good
@@ethanbrown2900 Same.
Never touched one drug, drop of alch, crumb of ganja, nothing. In all my 26byears of life, clean as a whistle. So I cant relate either.
This was the first and I've ever heard of his. When I was about 7-8. He's been my favorite country singer ever since.

“Victory in The Lord!”
LORD NEVER LOSES🥰😁
See ya in heaven
