REPLY KrautWatch 13 hours ago @Tsunade1stSannin I have and what they said pretty much proves my point. They initially intended to do accents, but people auditioning were not convincing. So obviously they had a choice there. Keep looking for convincing people, maybe even Eastern Europeans, or abandoning the idea altogether in order to cast known actors. They chose the latter, clearly for commercial reasons. And that's fine. It's really not as big of a deal to me as the length of this comment might imply. ^^ But I still find it weird that they mixed real Russian recordings with British accents. It kinda contradicts the idea that all of them are speaking the same language. Kristin Wood 23 hours ago I would love for you to do the Americans. Evacuated people don't needed money my friend, they all will be dead in next 15 years, in 1986 at all Ukraine territory Soviet government makes aborts without any answer or any accept from women's. In the each city you can find special place for deads people from Chernobyl (+100 km). This people and their children will be marked like Chernobylmans to end of life. They can't find any jobs, they can't go to normal school, because other people will scare them. Kind regards
actualy water slows and absorbs significant amounts of neutrons and because of that ananenko bezpalov and baranov survived that dive after hospitalization (worst dose of radiation they got was while they are above water)
10:40 They speak russian because its recording of original announcement about Pripyat evacuation from 27.04.1986 same with firefighter call in episode 1 that was also original recording from 26.04.1986
Not sure if it was said before, but these divers survived. One died in 2005 because of heart attack, 2 others are still alive. They managed to get out without getting high dosage of radiation because the water was much lower than expected and their knowledge of the plant. They only encountered 1 place with severe radiation, which they ran through.
They've done their task quickly enough to minimise their exposure to beta and gamma radiation. Their fully sealed suits prevented any exposure to alpha rays, which are the most deadly type of the three, but possessing lowest penetration capability. The divers didn't breath in irradiated dust, fumes or vapours. Some of the power plant's workers did, as did firefighters, for few hours in some cases. Why didn't the firefighters have gas masks is beyond me...
It's so hard to tell with this show. They mix truth with fiction so it's hard to tell which is which. A lot of things are presented to make you think they are facts but are not.
Obviously different in Soviet Russia but in the US Army the second the helicopter takes off the pilot is in charge. My father had a superior officer order him to fly even after he was told the weather was too dangerous. So he took off, hovered, then landed. 👍 This happened while he was deployed in Germany actually. 60's or 70's.
"What happens with that peoples". Based on the interview with one of the Pripyat citizen who was moved in that day - they was mixed into another families, on the start got first money, it was enough to buy new clothes, for food shops was for free, after few months they got new apartments and money for start new live. Moreover pass with Pripyat address gives a lot of benefits, like free tickets for plane/train and etc. Whole country try to help to that peoples. Here is the interview (yes it is in russian, same as tons of comments from peoples who was there, who share them own knowledge here in youtube): th-cam.com/video/2YCS9IMQYV0/w-d-xo.html
13:19 "Volunteer for this suicide mission and get a yearly stipend of 400 rubles for as long as you live. We even throw in a brand-new dynamo torch which you get to keep!"
They use a lot of Russian in an otherwise English language series because they used a lot of original audio and what little video recordings they could find.
The numbers are, each gram of Uranium has 1,000,000 x 1,000,000,000 x 3,000,000 grams at the site of Chernobyl ,s (3e21) bullets or 3 with 21 zero's behind it bullets of neutrons eeking out on everyone. So 3,000,000,000,000,000,000,000.
@@KrautWatch Ah ja wirklich ^^, me it was in Romania in 1984 (but I am half Bavarian, which is West but still) so it is for me as well! I'm glad you're alright though! :p
The channel is called KrautWatch and while he speaks nearly perfect English, it's with a very clearly German accent. Does he need to staple his Geburtsurkunde to his forehead to make it any more clearer?

Kraut - Do you have an intro/bio vid or prose somewhere? Would be good to know your age, background, part of Germany in which you live, etc.
@Andrew Smith I don't have any of that. And don't see the need to disclose the information you mentioned.
