Thankfully they are disbanded now. We also had officers that didn't know how to take their own tents. Then they got mad when we talked about how lazy they were😄

Pretty neat stories honestly, he’d go out and help set up the camps and stuff.... as well as setting up the ANCIENT hvac systems they’d supply him with.

I only spent a short time in the armed forces, but the amount of military grade stupidity that was packed in to those months was amazing. At the time I thought this was normal, as I had no frame of reference, however, now looking back on it after 12 years of civilian life, the stories really stand out.

one of the most interesting parts of being in a unit with a few old timers still in it is hearing some of the absolutely insane stuff they talk about. really puts some perspective on what you end up seeing or experiencing. Ended up doing some training and one of the instructors was on Robert's ridge. Talk about some crazy shit

My dad did basic training in the late 80's for the Canadian Army. He got stuck with the C2A1 ( heavy squad automatic version of FAL) he was one of the few people hoping not to get it and people were jealous because it had full auto, unlike the normal C1A1.

Most bored I've ever been in recent memory... Me and my family had to go to a hospital for my brother to get a full checkup and go through all the logistical work of setting up an upcoming surgery. This whole process with how busy it was in peak Covid-19, made the whole thing take 7 hours. Now for me, I never got any sleep the night before. I was exhausted and only got what amounted to 45 minutes of sleep. I wanted to pass out, but I couldn't because this was the middle of summer at noon to start, so either I'd be sitting on a park bench under the hot sun, or being in a humid car in a hospital parking garage. I could not sleep. So I had to keep myself awake for 7 hours, figuring out anything I could do, while being so exhausted I had no motivation to do anything, and the time just ticked...ticked...ticked. By the time it was over, my eyes were so painfully sore from being open i could not fall asleep even during the 1 hour drive back home. When I did finally get to sleep, 15 hours passed.
I still don’t regret putting the grenade launcher on my M16.
