Eddy Grant came to Nigeria in the 70s and brought computerized music production to us. He sang in Yoruba - Mo ní fe!. A great musician indeed.

You are very right Eddy was in Nigeria and I think he made an album afterwards talking about his love experiences in Yoruba. He was in Lagos that one I could say. One of my fav musicians. Very urban and different in his music

It’s so sad that this video hasn’t reached half a million viewers yet.
I figured that people simply don’t like quality, substantial music anymore.
Thank you brother Eddy for yet another quality sound that you blessed us with. And in return, I say God bless you sir.

Who is here listening to this great track? I grew up in Malawi in the 80s and this song by Eddy Grant, was a hit dong. It brings back nostalgic memories of my childhood days. It dominated our airwaves, the song. And it was one of my late dad's favourite songs. RIP.

I remember listening this song for the first time back in Malawi, Africa. Late 70s A bar near where is used to stay had a Juke box installed and the installer was testing it with this song on repeat. Those old juke box that had 45 rpm single records.

I saw a big 'eyed animal' in my new neighbourhood today, as I am she's equally new here,... We were both washing our clothes outside and we both realised we were stealing futive glances at each other.....and we both smiled back.. I remembered this song, and asked her if she ever heard it,... She said no and asked if she could listen to it,... Am playing it to her now as am singing along and writing this. Oh boy!! ...I've never heard such sweet giggles!

I used to sing this song to a girl named "Mabel" where Eddy says neighbor, I'd said Mabel. This was in 1977-78. Mabel was a very beautiful lady. Big guys were after her and I was just a young lad then. Mabel would simply tell me that she was too much for me. Well Mabel, I'm a big guy now, but unfortunately, you're no longer my neighbor (lol). If you happen to come across this comment, tell your Brother Tony that I love him and can never forget your family. Mabel is from Benin. God Bless.

This track was recorded at Semp Studio in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad in 1977 and was re-mixed at Coach Studio in London, England.
It was also influenced by some of the early Lord Shorty soca hits in Trinidad like "Endless Vibrations", "Sweet Music" and Eddy's own "Hello Africa" that were popular on the Caribbean airwaves at that time.

Chief, the original was done in 1973 by a group called The Equals. Eddy Grant was a member of the group. If i recall right, they had a controversial song that was heavily criticized and banned in some countries. Kenya banned it, the song "Black skinned blue eyed boy"
