- Thanks to Retro Skull, we were able to find this along with several other videos stored in files that he saved so BIG shoutout to him! This is the original video of my Douglas Fir "The Talking Tree" Collection that is surprisingly well over a year old now! Believe it or not, since this video I have acquired twice if not more of the amount that is featured here at the time. Don't worry, there will be all new and updated collection videos including this one and the SSS collection coming up later this month so stay tuned for that. The Douglas Firs that were in the process of being repaired in this video are now up and running so they will be featured soon as well. Can't wait for the new collection videos and I hope you guys will enjoy them as well. This is one of our oldest videos from the original channel so I never even imagined one of our fellow subscribers saving it so thank you so much for that! My parents planted Douglas (pun intended) by the front door one night, I came back super late and was quiet as a mouse, suddenly I heard “Hey, do you know what time it is?” And he fired off into a song as I scrambled for the power plug.
*MY GRANDMA HAD THIS ON HER FRONT DOOR STEP AND I WOULD RUN AWAY CRYING*

Same exact story for me, I'm a Polish person who went to USA for 3 years when I was around 9 or 10 years old. My grandma lives there. Me and my family lived in the downstairs part of her house. She put the tree right next to the top of the staircase during Christmas. It looked like a normal tree so when the eyes and mouth came out I was spooked. I always crawled while entering her living place and I always did stuff in her bedroom because the tree was in the living room. Also it was so loud... my bedroom was right under the area where the staircase ends and I would always hear muffled Christmas songs whenever someone went there. I couldn't sleep. Now I'm 15 and this isn't scary but I have some bad memories.
I loved these talking singing trees as a child. So many awesome memories.

Honestly, I don't blame kids for being scared of these things. As even I, as a teenager, gotta admit that these things look fricking creepy with their fish eyes and big flappy mouth.

I modified my Douglas Fir to have green LED lights instead of Incandescent lights. As part of my Douglas fir 20th anniversary restoration. The gears that are split are now replaced

I don’t collect Gemmy stuff but I do have respect for collectors and I see how people find value in these things
I wonder if when gemmy started out if the thought they would have people collecting there stuff…
1. I like the higher voice a bit better. The green eyes are prettier than the orange eyes. The mouth looks really silly, but that’s okay.
2. Again, the higher voice is more pleasant to listen to. The orange eyes, though, are not that great-looking IMO. Silly mouth, but that’s okay.
3. Obviously same as 2.
4. The lower voice is okay but I like the first ones better. Green eyes are pretty. The rounded appearance kinda reminds me of the Chuck E. Cheese’s animatronics, in particular 3-stage Mr. Munch, which I find cool.
5. I enjoy the higher voice a bit more. It looks like he’s having eyelid troubles, though (unless maybe this is just a weird angle or the eyes are supposed to be closed most of the time).
6. Orange eyes are not great, and the voice sounds extremely distorted half the time, but the trunk movement looks awesome.
7. This one is super cute!
8. This one is pretty cute, too, but not as cute as 7.
9. The eyes are a pretty green color, but the blinking is making too much noise, and the eyeballs are super small. It’s a little like the “small eye variant” at some CEC locations, which some people think is cuter, but I think it looks like Chuck has some sort of skin issue. Plus the mouth is...strange. Not silly. Just strange.
Mine doesn't dance. He just stares into your souls as he sings with his glowing eyes and his mouth will sometimes get stuck. He doesn't even blink...

I found one of these in my attic it's from 1997 are they worth any thing today? Mine has never been opened

BreezyHeartz I used to be petrified of them, my grandmother has one that I would crawl on the floor until I thought it was safe just to avoid it. Now that I'm older though, I think they're kind of cute and always save one if I find one at a thrift store or other second hand store, I now have 3 of my own

Happy Tree Fan Brony You never really can tell unless they provide pictures of the box sealed with the original tape. I've purchased new/old stock inflatables before and haven't had any issues.
Alright, weird question for you, but you collect these... things... so you're probably the one to answer it. Has there ever been a Gemmy Douglas Fir that was big? Like, 5+ feet? When I was around 2 I got traumatized by one of these things at a supermarket, only I remember it being huge. I asked Mom years later if it was actually small and I just remembered it being huge because I was 2 and tiny, but she confirmed that it was a full size Christmas tree. But I can't find evidence of one anywhere... which means they were either really rare, or that was an actual demon in the supermarket. It's one of those dumb questions that sometimes comes back to keep me up at night for dumb reasons. Thanks.

My mom had one of these when I was a young kid. Never told me it was animated. I remember walking close to it and those terrifying eyes lit up and starting singing. I never had been so traumatized lol, still hate these 😣
Gabrielle Christman Trust me, seeing these as a kid had the same traumatizing affect...but eventually I grew out of it and noticed they had collectable value.
