New ABT AUDI RSQ8-R is a Lamborghini Urus Beater! King of the SUVs

- The Abt RSQ8-R is a performance SUV that packs a punch! Abt have taken the Audi RSQ8 to new heights and after a walkaround to take in all of the changes, let's get the 740hp beast out to the Autobahn to put the foot down and see what it's got.
The Audi RSQ8 is the brand's flagship performance SUV, and to celebrate their 125th anniversary, Abt take it even further beyond the Audi Sport offering with their RSQ8-R package. 125 units will be made in total, featuring the full conversion consisting of the carbon fibre exterior parts, 23" wheels, exhaust system, power upgrade and interior finish.
Power is up from 600hp to 740hp, torque jumps from 800Nm to 920Nm, and as a result the 0-100km/h cuts from 3.8s to 3.4s with a top speed them further raised from the optionally increased limit of 305km/h (190mph) to a huge 315km/h (196mph). This particular car in Java Green is the company's prototype that they have kindly allowed me to take a look at in detail.
After a walkaround to go through all of the modifications and some background to the Audi RSQ8, let's take it for a drive on both some smaller roads and then the de-restricted Autobahn. After getting a feel for the drive on the twistier roads, then with some empty stretches to enjoy, the rate with which the numbers build for such a large machine are fairly incredible, heading to 281km/h (175mph) in a very small stretch.
The RSQ8-R is quite possibly the King of the performance SUVs. The combination of practicality with immense pace, and surprisingly impressive driving dynamics for such a large and heavy machine is unknown prior.

I think that the RSQ8 is a great car, but the extra -R is missing some bits. Firstly, I think that instead of adding more aero(which adds more weight even though it is carbon fiber), I would start by reducing weight. Exchanging Audi's original pieces for more lightweight parts which will help the car feel better, faster acceleration and better handling. Second, I feel like that 740hp and 920nm sound to be more than what they really are, I am not saying that it doesn't have that amount, but that it doesn't feel like it has that amount. I bet that the 650hp Urus feels lighter, more aggressive when driving, although this one looks much meaner.
ABT make great preparations, but I feel like the new -R line is missing something, it feels like they just wanted the car to look meaner, more badass, instead of actually making it a better and more sportier handling car.
Those good old days with the RS6+ ...

I understand what you're trying to say but I think that the RSQ8 R is still supposed to be a luxury vehicle. I guess that they didn't want to just strip it down and save some weight to make it as light as the urus and i'm sure the RSQ8R will never feel as sporty as the Urus because it's a Lamborghin😅...
But you can still drive your top notch luxury SUV with more comfort and in the same time beat some Urus owners with a faster acceleration of 0.2 seconds.
And as Shmee said in the Video it's not even that bad to drive and handle in Dynamic mode.
In the end you still pay about 210.000€ but you get a fully equipped ABT RSQ8-R instead of a base model Lamborghini Urus...

The Audi RSQ8 has been something of a new obsession for me recently. I don't care for SUV's generally. But... The way this one looks! And the practicality of getting a whole family in there with the potential to be a supercar killer at the same time? Madness. I win the lottery n I'm ordering one immediately..... Maybe drop it off at ABT....

The Urus has only done a wet lap to date I believe. I was meant to take mine there in June but that go shot down... Was hoping to get one of the track experts to do a timed, filmed lap. Next year.
