Good video bud majority of time I've found out if u disassemble the ceramics and clean any debris between the mating ceramic inserts it usually fixes the drips I also add a very small amount of vaseline on all moving parts.
Thanks for the instruction. Forgive me if this has been asked before...My single handle cold water tap leaks (drips) when closed only if water pressure is greatly reduced. Once pressure is back to normal, the drip stops. Yes it is a ceramic cartridge design. Thanks.
Derek, you're a star! I've been able to turn off the hot water supply pipe with a screw driver underneath the wash basin in no time, by following your learned guidance - saving me a big headache! I've got a leaking wash basin hot water tap and one of my main concerns was turning the water supply off. As I live in a basement flat that has mains supply to all the Other flats. This would mean that I would be turning the supply off to all other flats in order to fix the leak - the other tenants would have been inconvenienced, needlessly. Derek thanks a lot!
With the huge variation in tap sizes, I've found it almost impossible to get the correct one. Would it not be possible to replace the actual discs, assuming they are all the same size?
Thanks Derek, I've got a tap where I changed the ceramic cartridge because it was leaking and three weeks later it's leaking again! I'm going to look at the seat as per your suggestion. Cheers!
My Mixer basin tap was dripping from the 'gland..?' just below the handle and getting a calcium build up on the chrome. I removed the valve and noticed that there are 2 x O rings (10 x 2mm) which had worn and were letting drips of water past. I didn't have right size to replace so I removed them and put 2 wraps of PTFE tape and put the O rings back with a little vasalene and appears to have cured the leak...No cost.. It wont last forever so I'll get the O rings from eBay and do it when it fails next time.
Nice video. I tried replacing one not long ago but only when I went into b&q I saw how many different measurements there are on the cartridges! Thanks Derek 👍🏻 Asian Jon
My Huntington Brass GT2620-20 bathroom single lever handle won't budge. I can't move it up or down to turn the water on. Do you think it's just the cartridge, or something else I need to be looking at? TY
MY KITCHEN DUAL TAPS,( QUATERTURN CERAMIC TYPE,) IS PAINTED CREAM, AND MATCHES MY DRAINING BOARD AND SINK, WHICH ARE MOLDED FROM SOME KIND OF RESIN. BOUGHT IN THE 1990'S. OUR WATER IS VERY HARD, NOW THE TAPS ARE STIFF , AND DRIP, AND IT ALSO LEAKS FROM THE ARM SWIVIL. i'D LIKE TO KEEP THIS SET, BUT , WILL i BE ABLE TO FIND NEW PART'S FOR THE TAPS? IF I DISMANTLE THEM, THEN CAN'T GET REPLACEMENT INNER'S ? DO YOU RECOGNISE MY DISCRIPTION, ALTHOUGH YOU MAY BE TOO YOUNG TO REMEMBER THIS DESIGN.
Very well presented video.
Keep up the great work

Dumbest design ever. You can repair and replace, but even new valves start leaking again after a year or two.
