Because "March winds" is a thing, I love using kites for the month. They can be simple diamond-shaped kites, box kites, butterfly kites, and so on. Then for "April showers", you can use umbrellas or raindrops.
This year my March theme is Dr. Seuss. I am a homeschooler and my kids and I are celebrating National Reading month (US) and Dr. Seuss's birthday is on March 2nd.
My son’s bday is in March, and he loved The Land Before Time. I think I’ll try to draw Little Foot with some classic LBT scenery and of course some tree stars!!
My favorite cocktail is so boring…. But I prefer Tito’s and water with lots of lemon! 🍋 Really loving the umbrella theme, but think I’ll save that for April. Maybe I’ll try pandas and bamboo for March!
The cherry pie theme! Pies are one of my favorite desserts to make and to eat! I made a cherry pie earlier this week, something I do a few times per year. Cherry pie is my favorite pie tied with mincemeat, which may be different from what you have in NZ. It’s basically spiced apple-raisin pie but with some meat for richness but you can’t see or taste it. Some recipes don’t have meat but mine does (beef used for roasting such as chuck roast). Cherry pie is very common but cherries are not really widely grown in the U.S., primarily Michigan for sour or pie cherries and the Pacific Northwest (Washington, Oregon) for sweet/black cherries (bing, Rainier, etc.). My grandparents in Indiana had a cherry tree and having a few trees in a yard isn’t uncommon. They’re kind of expensive, and I periodically order them as part of a bulk order.
I love the themes. I love good old UFO theme... Did January 2019 one and February 2022 as a Roswell tv-show one. This year March is metallic stars as my dad choose the theme for me.
I already have my March theme done (national puppy day), but I LOVE the puppet theme! Omg! So cool! Especially with the tape. Awesome idea. Might have to do that one for April.
These are so cute. I would most likely do piano theme bcs it seems the easiest to draw out and I could add music paper or music notes for additional designs. 🎶
I find themes to be a fun creative outlet for me, but I didn’t use much in the way of themes when I was just starting out 😄 more so just went for a loose colour selection for the cover page and monthly log, but it slowly developed into more decorative stuff 🥰

I decided to go with a pandas theme this month and I did an umbrellas theme in October, so it was interesting learning that there are holidays related to those next month! For March I decided on an art déco theme. I just love the patterns and I've been watching a lot of interior design TH-cam lately 🤣
Warning for the thermal printers, though! I used them last year from January to March and lighter prints have already faded. So make sure you really just use them for outline and maybe don't use them in summer (hot times xD), because the print fades a lot faster in the sun 😊❤
I always love your theme ideas! I’m doing a rainbow theme. I did a “word find your theme” approach and discovered the word rainbow first. It was definitely a great idea for March bc of the pot of gold at the other end and leprechauns being associated with the Irish. I’m using stamps and ripped up sheets of rainbow colored paper. ✌🏻🤍
I really like the look of your shadow puppets theme, the decoration on that looks very pleasing to my eye. My theme for March will be Pastel Constellations, based around this very nice pastel purple and blue washi with silvery constellations on it.
My friend gave me a sticker and I impulsively stuck it on what is supposed to be my March cover page, so now my theme is flowers and birds. More specifically, three black and white local birds that share a home in the winter: the hairy woodpecker, chickadee, and tufted titmouse. The sticker has an orangeish birdhouse, yellow flower, and purple butterfly but I'll probably ignore that color pallet and do my own. XD
For 2023, I decided to challenge myself and have every month's theme have something to do with space/galaxies/celestial things. My March theme is Aurora Borealis.
okay, when you're in DC, you HAVE to go to a Dangerously Delicious Pies place and get a cherry pie slice!! there's a few of them around the city and they have savory and sweet but WOW you definitely need to try cherry pie when you're here!! since march is my bday month, I usually go w/a pisces theme for the month, sometimes just stars/constellations, sometimes koi fish, sometimes a combo of them... it always bugged me that st patrick's day takes over the month w/themes, it feels!! I liked your selection of options, and the color palettes are fun, too!!

I haven’t been using themes - i started journaling only this year so I have been experimenting - i do love the simplicity of the umbrellas

You should try a dark n stormy, it is an awesome drink and traditional in Bermuda. Many places is the states now make it too
