Just like when Massa spent a season mentoring him in Williams only for Stroll to adamantly claim, multiple times, that Massa never helped him at all?

Alonso gave the main reason, but you completely ignored it. He’s gotten along very well with most of his team mates, and generally most drivers on the grid. Since his early days he’s always had many friends on the grid. Just like people say he’s changed, he hasn’t much. The biggest difference is the coverage of him by the Uk F1 media. They were always negative and antagonistic to him just as they were to Vettel, Rosberg, Max, Massa and before them Schumi. Basically any driver that was a rival to their chosen driver.
This is accurate. Most of his team mates have spoken about him in a favourable light. The issue Trulli had in 04 was largely down to Flavio, and of course 2007 is the be all and end all for anyone who's follows the English coverage of F1.
Basically every driver that is not from the UK.

Stroll has always had decent relationships with his more experienced teammates like Massa, Perez, & now Alonso. Stroll knows Alonso is one of the best ever and wants to learn from him to perform well. Alonso was like this for Esteban too in 2021, the problem was that Ocon took the gloves off in 2022. Ocon is more talented than Stroll but he just pushed the envelope v. Alonso too far which probably soured their relationship (also Alonso probably didn't see a lot of potential at Alpine going forward which is why he left).
Lance is very fortunate to have had the teammates he has. There has been an encyclopedia of knowledge, technique, strategy, advice, etc., driving the other car for a while now.
If Lance doesn't benefit greatly from such tutoring, and grow like a weed from being around that level of talent, then daddy has wasted all the money he's spent getting Lance to F1.

@@Quazi-Moto I mean so far it hasn't really shown much benefit. He's not quite Latifi levels of terrible anymore. But with the amount of mentoring he's had, both from teammates and coaches, he should be way better.

Or he actually appears has given compliments and British media being bias as it is does not show that. This very video is bias and tries to give reasons other than Alonso being helpful. Reason number two for instance is irrelevant; Alonso is literally making the team huge sums of money ore than any previous driver. He has no reason to try to get favour from the team owner. People need to be a lot more critical of the media they consume.
Because Lance is team owners son and he is a solid guy a nice personality and does not jeopardize or putting in danger him in any way and is on avg 0.2-0.5 sec slower per lap.
It probably helps Lance so much, having such an experienced driver essentially mentoring you
Stroll seems like a cool guy whether he's a pay driver or not. He's also not a bad driver, I keep pointing to his mega start in a wet suzuka last year.
He seems to be really good in thevwet but average in the dry
He really underperformed last 2-3 seasons, but now he seems to be back at it. I think if he had his seat at risk, he wouldnt have underperformed, which is a shame, but at least he is showing his true potential now

he and ocon were also pretty friendly apart from certain uh... on track situations... Alonso has just been generally more of a team player after WEC, which is much more of a team motorsport

It seems to me that Stroll understands his role. He knows he's not the #1, and he accepts it. They seem to have a very good dynamic in that garage.
Well he drove with the biggest snake on the grid while Stroll is quite harmless and actually seems like a nice guy.
Of course he is gone be really happy to have a normal teammate that doesn't constantly fights his own teammate harder than anyone else. Especially since he helped Ocon gain his first win and still he behaves like that. Before Alonso announced it, I already knew he was going to leave Alpine because he was getting annoyed with Ocon.
He left because Alpine didn't want to give him the contract he wanted, had nothing to do with Ocon.
Also I guess you forgot some of the moves Stroll pulled on Vettel and what happend in COTA, but ok.
@pannapalanki8041 No, how Ocon treated Alonso definitely had a big impact on Alonso leaving Alpine. He was getting more and more annoyed with the behaviour of his teammate. So it made his choice of leaving the team a lot easier.
Alonso and Stroll are on the same page. Alonso is a clear #1 and Stroll has been told not to get in his way and this works.
Unpopular oppinion: Stroll is actually pretty good driver.

Agreed, he takes huge risks (his start in Suzuka last year could have ended very badly if someone had suddenly moved to the right) but sometimes they pay off and sometimes they don't.

I've said this for a long time. You don't do what he did in junior formula without being a great driver. Is he WC material? Nah, but only a chosen few are. Dude is great in the wet as well. Just makes some absolutely boneheaded mistakes at times.

Stroll is pretty much an owner as well … and wants what’s best for the team maybe more then any driver on the grid he likly has treated him great because Lance doesn’t have to work about being beat by a teammate makes it work better

Lance gets a lot of hate for his driving (which isn't that bad tbh) but he seems like a genuinely good teammate. Some people really seem to have forgotten what having a bad relationship with your teammate really is like (eg ocon perez)
Alonso knows that Stroll won't be able to outcompete him in any way. That's why he has nothing to lose giving away advanced techniques or strategies to Stroll, that it won't result at the same level as his, even when done correctly by Stroll.
Ocon is also the worst teammate on the current Grid.

Honestly, respect to Esteban, he never plays second fiddle or journey man to anyone, every driver he's gone up against when settled in, he's always pushed them. He might not be top tier but he's definitely underrated. Given that he's managed to give the fanboys something to cry about, he's definitely doing something right.
The problem is he's not a doormat. It doesn't matter who you are Ocon will never let you turn him into a number two. I honesty wish some of the other drivers on the grid had that mentality.

Lance has always been underrated due to his dad funding and basically giving him a career but Lance is actually a really good driver
I think Alonso is right about Ocon focusing too much on one thing.
Honestly, a better answer than "he was always that helpful" would have been that he learned how to better co-operate with other drivers on the team in his time in WEC. Though I suspect if fate put him against Lewis or Max in the same care he would suddenly forget this again.

I think the best part is, Lance knows he can't beat Alonso, meaning he will not get sour. Especially if Alonso likes his work. And it is someone Lance looks up to.

Alonso is cerebral. Complimenting the son of the owner puts him in favor and helps ensure his longevity in F1.
You know I think I judged Lance a bit harshly in the past. But it was hard not to when there were better drivers at the time that needed seats. But he is a solid guy

The last reason is by FAR the main one.
Not gonna lie, never really thought about the dynamic between alonso and ocon, in a sense that ocon just wants to beat alonso by any means needed. And this is actually true when you look back on their time at alpine together. Even though stroll probably isnt the same caliper as ocon, being a good teammate and having good communication makes things way easier on the team as a whole, and just getting better results. But ya lance isnt a threat to alonso which must be a nice.

Alonso has always been helpful to teammates my arse.
While "beating him rather than working as a team", Ocon helped Alpine beat all of its competitors. Alpine finished 5th/4th in 2021/2022.
Meanwhile his "world champion", "works as a teammate" Lance is the only reason the team finished P5 last year instead of a very deserved P2.

Dude I really liked Alonsocon. But I like Alonstroll even more.
A big part is the dynamic is that there's only 1 seat at the team that's available so Alonso is only competing with people outside of the team to stay. At the same time favoritism for one driver over another might be something to fight for in a different team by showing that you're better. When the boss' kid is your teammate you know what you're signing up for. If they favor Lance nothing you can do about it. If not then great. There's not really a reason to fight each other unless other than the WDC or first in a race.

I just following F1 recently, I read the stories about Lance, tbh I don't understand why he get so much hate. Yes, he might be bought him self to this position, but I do believe you can't drive an F1 car for couple of seasons without hardwork and talent. I might be wrong, last time I watched F1 was when Schumacher still around 😂

I initially wasn't a fan of Lance, as he only really has a seat because daddy bought the team, and I thought he was another paid driver. He has since proven me wrong as a whole, and I honestly want to see him succeed with Alonso as his teammate
Alonso being just 0.2s both in Quali trim and 0.155s faster in race trim while last year he was 0.455s slower than Vettel and 5 tenths in race trim. So in simple he likes a driver who can't challenge him because he isn't in his prime
