Actually, I believe this particular board is based on the final bowser castle of NSMB DS Edit: Correction, upon further investigation, it seems like a slight mashup. Most of the board definitely seems more akin to the final castle of DS, but upon close observation of the walls, you can just barely make out the final sections of the final castle from Wii.

Gotta admit, I think this is one of the funniest collabs that TRG does. Plus some of the best lines come from this series, like "Pay me money instead, THIS IS THE PUN TAX".
As someone who has played and beaten the single player on Fortune Street, there are ways to cheat around the AI and exploit unintentional mechanics within the game. When dealing with lower level AI's, such as slime, you can buy their shops for much lower than buying out, usually 2-3x shop value. Vacant lots are also inherently broken because you can change to a 3-star shop at any point in the game, plus the stock change happens at the start of the turn. What you do is buy stock in a district in which you own a vacant plot, renovate to a 3-star shop, sell the stock, and then renovate back. In total, this process nets you ~500g, which is a good strategy early game. As a note about vacant plots, balloon ports and tax shops are the two best. Balloon ports because they let you do nutty things like skipping problematic districts, buying stocks twice in a turn, or buying/investing in properties while still being in an advantageous position. Tax shops are strong because they hit the wallet pretty hard regardless of where you are in the game, plus the rebate can be helpful.
So surreal to hear the gang almost a decade after they started with Mario Party greatness, but inspirational nostalgia nonetheless! Let’s hope they keep doing this for many years onward!
If I had to guess, the DS Entry, Itadeki Street (Japan only) used the version from the first game for it's Bowser's Castle map. Can't say for sure, but I know at least a fair amount of board locations were reused (can't speak for the maps themselves.)
The Bowser Castle stage in Mario Super Sluggers remixes this theme, too! It's a beautiful theme. Honestly, I like the DS castle theme more than the Wii-onward version.
honestly this might be my favorite castle theme in the new super mario series... especially in the original with the, sitar? whatever exotic string instrument it is.
Tom has the right idea with the Checkpoints near the bank, those are brutal. I think Emile should've picked out the Tax Office when he landed because the individual routes do not generate as much, and with the current settings the tax office can be very good early game if lucky, and late game as well where the checkpoint in that area falls off. If not a tax office then a balloon port for movement options.
"Everything has just been flipped upside down here at Bowser's Castle." BGM is from NSMB DS, in which the final castle has gravity flipping mechanics, so the remark checks out.
Just commenting to say that New Super Mario Bros for the DS had my favorite Castle song in the Mario series, and I'm glad that's the one which was used here (albeit a remix, but thank you for the remix, composers).
This map is a weird one. Lots of dangerous Monopolies can build up, but players are still safe since they can always choose to go down a different path. That’s why having 3 shops in one of the districts next to the Bank could be even scarier than having a full 6-shop district, since your opponents will be forced to go near it much more often.
Guess that's also happened along with Overcooked, since Tom is still here. Not that I'm complaining, I love to see a game of Fortune Street! It's too bad that it's three years since the last game released, I think, and of course not outside of Japan. Oh man, Bowser's Castle can be brutal with all those dead ends, we're in for an interesting game for sure. Nice to also see all those vacant plots, I'm curious to see who builds what on them. All those moments when Emile has a story about something, especially when it's of dubious nature, that's typical RunawayGuys. Wow, Tim getting all those shop in the same district this early is amazing, and of course Jon buys the remaining one! This will be a wild game, no doubt.
This is probably the same recording session as Overcooked (Kirby's preference for Jon's lap comes up there too), which they've dated to just before Terry's release.
I don’t remember having to turn control back on before the map ends for the single player for out to lunch, I just remember setting it to out to lunch and going to classes, could be wrong tho
No, you don't have to take back control. I was doing this a month ago where I just left the bot on to unlock all the stages in this game by coming back every 1-2 hours to see if my bot won.
Jon might be mixing it up with Mario Party 1, where you can let 4 computer players do 50-turn games, but at the end you only get the Stars if they’re swapped back to human players. Fortunately, they changed that in 2.
Nope. That's exactly how I did it. Turned off the tv and would turn it right back on to a results screen. Next stage would be unlocked if I made the requirements.
I want to say that I've played the single player mode SEVERAL TIMES. I can now turn my brain off while playing it and still win, Bowser's Castle is one of my favorite maps.
I find it funny that not only did Emile already tell that Viagra story, but everyone else apparently forgot as well. It's like Emile has several other crazy stories he told that some of them get forgotten even though you think that one would have gotten remembered.
This freaking board. I spent two damned weeks trying to beat it in single-player mode. An S-Rank A.I., two A-Ranks, and near complete freedom to dodge any of my monopolies. It was a nightmare.

Fun story about dreidels, or not so fun I guess. In first grade I was in a holiday program at an elementary school despite having just moved there. I didn't really want to participate, but it was more or less mandatory so I had no choice in the matter. I never had time to learn the songs or the program, but there I was, with a bunch of kids I barely knew, singing a bunch of different holiday songs. After a while as part of the program we had to link pinkies and sing that dreidel song. You might not think it would be that bad. However, the kid on my right had a death grip on my pinkie. I didn't know people could grip that hard with their pinkies, but it took all I had not to cry. I get flashbacks every time I see a dreidel or hear about them.

Something that greatly helped me when unlocking boards through Singleplayer: you know that "Quick Save" option? Guess what? That's not a "Quick Save" in the sense that you may think it is. You can reset the game as much as you want, and it will bring you back to the last point you did a quick save. So what I ended up doing was resetting until I could control an entire district in just 4 rolls, and that essentially guaranteed victory, if not bankrupting one of the opponent early on. It took QUITE a lot of resetting, but doing that to guarantee success was a far nicer prospect than the risk of me wasting several hours only to lose.
