All the snow birds come down here for winter and I have to start sharing my beaches. It's very sleepy down here in the summer but winter it gets pretty crowded. Good thing there are lots of beaches and beachy goodness to go around! Thanks so much for watching!
Wow--that was slipper shell right next to the black scallop at 13:45! I used to find them all the time in Manasquan NJ when I was a kid. Used to call them cradle shells or mermaid slippers. Live in TX now far away from the the ocean and I "shore" am homesick ;) Love your channel & just subscribed. Thank you for creating great content & making so many of our days brighter!
Howdy Texas! Your state shell is the Lightning Whelk - which we find tons of down here! Those slippers are everywhere - all the time! I rarely take a closer look unless it's a really slow shelling day 😊 Thank you so much for letting me share my walks with you!
@@SWFBeachLife You are SO welcome! And thanks for the info on the state shell of TX. You've found some beauties. Just curious, though. Are you from the Northeast coast?
Roxy Manasquan Yes I sure am. New Jersey and Seaside Park was the Beach I’ve been to the most up there. Zero shells - which is probably why I’m so over the moon about the shells I find down here!
Oh this was very cool. The water was lovely that day. Oh neat about the white lightning welk. I liked that a lot. I hope I can get out to a beach soon.
Lovers Key is such a pretty spot. A real gem. There is most always good shelling without the crowds of Sanibel. The best shelling is at the very south end of the beach.
Lewis Black I found the best stuff more North/Mid-Island. However, I didn’t get South until later in the morning and it’s possible all the good stuff was already taken. It is a beautiful beach though!!
They say if one would hold a crab up to your ear , you would hear what it sounds like to be latched onto by that crab. Thanks much for the vid to keep us current. Regards.
Maggie Max I guess it’s a good thing the water was a little deep, otherwise we would have picked him up for a better look! I found one once that was posing all weird like a spider. Luckily we never find real spiders at the beach. That would freak me out too!
@Maggie_Max, I thought the same thing. :) The sea star is so cool looking but through that water it did look like a spider - gave me chills. Yes @SWF Beach Life, I think so too, when they are walking around it does look like a spider the way they hold their legs up a little like this one at 28:28 in this video th-cam.com/video/Lzi8CVnmRWs/w-d-xo.html - not the nine armed sea star but doing that same thing. So Beautiful!
Thanks Janet! I don't make anything with the shells...yet. I do want to make a mirror and my husband is always busy making jewelry or something. For now I 'm collecting the shells in glass jars. I'm going to run out of room one of these days!
Patty Valinote Soon as I get home I wash them with water and let them dry. Then, I will soak them in a bleach/water solution when I’m ready to use them. Depending on the shell, I’ll also give them a quick swipe of mineral oil. The urchins and sand dollars I’ll paint with a glue/water solution. Thank you for watching!
Are the beaches open all day yet or still closed in the middle or the day? That water is amazing!! I should’ve gone today! Please take us with you when you go snorkeling!!!
Olivia Sadik Beaches are open all day everyday here in Lee County. I read the beaches in Naples closed again but haven’t followed up since I don’t really shell in Naples ☺️
Yes, by me they are almost all open. Still a few smaller beaches are still closed (no parking) but not a big deal - just move on to the next one. What about by you?
Polinucha Most of them are the same 20 shells so I’ve learned which ones they are. Once in a while I’ll need to look one up or I’ll reach out to the Shell community to figure out what kind it is. I love learning!!
It was a beautiful day and your shells are so beautiful!!
Thank you for a great beach walk!!😊🐬
You have perfect voice for voice overs.
Polinucha Thank you!
Wonderful video taking me away again to some “Beachy Goodness” love it 😍

Oh, I’m so glad my videos help! I love sharing my adventures. Hope the craziness ends soon!
What a gorgeous day ! That beach is super cool with all those tree trunks ! Thanks again for a beautiful day shelling !

Just love your videos, one of these days I’m going to Florida. It’s getting to be that time of year for snow. I dream of Florida

So many pretty and alive shells !! And the water looks so blue and clear 😊
It was such a pretty day by the water! I was lucky to find so many critters and shells.
It's nice to see all the live creatures you find thank you. I enjoy the walks with you.
Thank you for watching Amanda!

Scary Fear I kept wanting to pinch myself. I’m so lucky to live near all these amazing beaches!

LOL! I won't be holding any crabs up to my ear - that's for sure!
@@SWFBeachLife LOL - NOPE!
Ok, not so close, but listen to the secrets of beach life crabby has. Lots of info there, well, if one speaks crab. Be well.
I have to admit that looking into the water, that nine armed sea star looked like a tarantula. Totally creeped me out! Lol. Spiders are my kryptonite!

Wow ! Cool haul !
I was at Lovers Key this morning and I was thinking about the very first time I saw a live apple murex. I was so excited!
@@SWFBeachLife I know, right???? and that albino lighting welk .. wow wow wow !!!! just so cool !!!
@@jacruickLiving here is the bomb!
That live apple murex was very big!
It was! I recently found my second live apple murex! Don't find them often, that's for sure!
Love your videos! Can’t wait to visit Sanibel.
Ruby Begonia Thank you! I love Sanibel too!
Yes!
Enjoyed your walk....the albino whelk was so pretty...I love your scallops..so colorful...do you make anything with them?🐚

@@SWFBeachLife it would be a fun video to see what kind of jewelry your husband is making.
The water looked so good!!! Would you share in how you clean your shells??? Thanks for sharing!🐚🌴🌊

I think it would be interesting to see what color the actual animal is inside those albino shells. Like would they be more pinkish?
What a fabulous question! I've only ever found the shells of albino creatures. I hope I get to see one eventually!

Are cone snails everywhere in Florida
No, there are some areas of Florida where you will not find cone snails, or if you do it would be very rare.
@@SWFBeachLife thank you so much I appreciate it and I also liked and subscribe to your channel
How do you know all your shells?

Shell books really help, plus are nearly as addictive as actual shelling!
