Cucumbers. I’m in the north of England and had a bumper crop last few years. Choose outdoor “ridge” varieties (including oriental types), grow indoors and plant out at the end of May. Feed with liquid seaweed after onset of flowers.

They had/have a reputation for trouble with the 'kingpins' (on front wheels) nothing too serious but item(s) known to fail somewhat frequently. Ergo may be worth reading up about prior to purchase & checking those on any proposed purchase once aware.....

FunFact: William Shatner's first car was a Morris Minor. They were a popular import into North America in the 1950s and early 60s. You will find quite a few for sale on the classic car websites over the pond and you can usually find all the versions: sedan, traveller (woody station wagon), convertible, van and pick up truck. Alternatively you can get a left-hand drive one from Netherlands or Scandinavia where they were also popular and easy to find for sale. Being a BMC product it has most parts shared with other British cars of the period and should be easy to source in the USA, you can also upgrade or modify Minors with period MG parts. Edit: MG actually stands for Morris Garages.

There are greenhouse cucumbers and there are outdoor cucumbers. It can be difficult to grow greenhouse ones outdoors, they are not so hardy. Morris Minor, that takes me back. The time when cars were very simple and most could repair them. There is something very soothing about the sound of waves crashing.
Hi guys, a couple of things to note - Bluebells are a protected species, it is illegal to pick them, so enjoy looking at them and filming them, you can see them in Bluebell Wood which is in Nene Park, Peterborough, wherever you go don't leave it too long to go there. Wear suitable footwear with all the rain we have had recently and knowing that bluebells are a woodland species it's going to be muddy. Traditional Cornish Pasties, if you get a true traditional pasty in Cornwall be aware that it will be a pasty of two halves, meat and veg in one half, fruit or jam in the other half, with a thick crust around the edge. Cornish Pasties many years ago were made by the miners wives for their lunch, the miners would come up from being underground all morning covered from head to foot in dirt and dust etc, the extra thick crust gave them a way to hold the pasty without getting the dirt on their food, the crust would then be thrown away. As mentioned the pasty was their meal, so as mentioned one half is the meat and veg part of their meal, the fruit/jam half was their pudding/dessert. So don't bite straight in the middle as you'll get both in your mouth at the same time

In the USA you have beautiful scenery but I am guessing that it is difficult to see it unless you have a lot of time to spare. In the UK, you can drive in a different direction every day and within a couple of hundred miles or less, you will have a completely different change of scenery. It is great to see you taking advantage of it. Those old Morris Minors run forever and the maintenance is easy.
Oh, we can not wait to take out on so many adventures when we get back to the us! Much like we are doing here, but I think we're gonna be doing it in our camper. It will be sad to leave because we love exploring everything here. But we know it will have to come to an end sometime in 2025 😢. 15:42 trailers have to display the registration of the vehicle that is towing them. However you must use an additional plate and leave the one on the rear of your vehicle on the vehicle.

I have just seen my cucumber seeds germinate. Four plants are showing today. Only need three plants. These will grow in large pots in the greenhouse. Never tried Growbags with cucumbers only tomatoes.

Back in the 70's I had a few 'sit up and beg' sidevalve Fords, loved 'em. Now got a Moggy Minor because the spares situation is so much more comprehensive, making ownership much more practical.
Britain has half the world's population of bluebells and it is illegal to pick or take the plants from the wild. Here in Sussex the woods are full of them, they are just coming out and will be at their best by the start of May. I am reminded how flat the country side is in the east, hence the U.S. air bases.

I know the route you took over to Lowestoft very well. It’s not the jewel of the East Anglian coast but it’s an ok place really! The skyscape was ideal for appreciating our beautiful county.
Apparently there is a danger that the English bluebells will hybridize with the Spanish upright ones which were introduced : the native ones have nodding heads.
Love the Morris Minor! The car I learned to drive on in 1970. It was my Dad's and a four door version 1966 model ('D' registration). He gave me the car a few years later when he got a new one. Drove all the way to Paris and back on holiday using about a gallon of oil (all cars leaked oil then). In a very cold winter the battery wasn't very good so started the engine with the starting handle. I think it was the last British car with a starting handle. Morris Minors produced up until 1972. Much loved because everything was bolted or screwed together so it was easy to repair yourself. The van version was used by The Royal Mail for deliveries.
Neville - I'm not so sure they necessarilyleaked oil, more perhaps those earlier/simpler engines just used more back then. Most cars back then needed regular oil top ups, which today's cars certainly do not. Not to say leaks did not exist but by design back then they merely consumed more oil. Merely a thought point. 👍
@@SynapticGap Oh they definitely leaked oil. Every street where cars parked had a continuous long oil stain about 3 feet out from the kerb. The other thing that surprised me is that tyre technology was very poor. In 1970 our family went on a long car journey to Dorset from Lancashire. 3 of the 4 tyres failed even though they were only 4 years old. Running round locally on short journeys at low speed they were fine. At higher speed over a long journey with a full load they just gave out.

@nevillemason6791 Oh absolutely agree, tyre technology then v now is a universe apart. Performance in terms of grip, Water clearance, reliability has come on beyond belief. Mostly radial tyres in the 60's too. The confidence in tyres now is a given, methinks.

The beaches up around Hunstanton & Snettisham are fabulous during the Summer & the Broads just West of GT. Yarmouth are also spectacular during the Summer.
Devon and Cornwall is a lovely part of the country. Ridge (or other outdoor varieties) can easily be grown here although the sort of cucumbers you usually buy in the shops would need to be grown under glass I think.
😮my great uncle had a Morris miner in garage when he past had 3k miles on clock he bought it new in the 50s for he's wife but see never used it stayed in garage for 52 years sold it for funeral cost got 4 k for it and you'll love Cornwall I go to penzance every year my cousin from tennisee nashville loved the place 😉

Bluebells are beautiful. 90% of the world's Bluebells are in the British Isles. An indigenous, woodland plant. I love them and their perfume. In flower at the moment, soon gone.

Americans who haven't travelled seem to stress about roundabouts. I think it's clear from this how safe and efficient they are when used responsibly. Much better than stop signs or traffic lights. I wonder if the concern in the USA is that their drivers lack the discipline to consistently abide by the "give way to the right" rule (left in the USA obviously).

Hello , so happy to hear your planning a Cornwall trip. It's my favourite place I've visited loads of times as a kid. If your going in summer and plan going in the sea praa sands has an amazing beach when the tide is in you can walk out for around half a mile in chest deep water. Cornwall has an amazing coast line Polpero has to be the most picturesque fishing town , love watching your videos
Love Praa Sands, but my favourite beach not just in Cornwall, but the UK, is Hayle. The dunes are great, and love it when the tide goes out, and leaves these huge pools, and if it's hot, they're great for relaxing in. Cornwall is very special.

I've occasionally had the same problem with cucumber plants suddenly dying even with greenhouse varieties' in sterile compost. Never been able to work out why so my solution is to plant more than I think I will need so always end up with a glut of them anyway. My brother in law grows outdoor varieties and he swears by 'Marketmore' and never seems to have a problem. I believe they have quite a good resistance to several of the more common diseases and adverse weather conditions.
When I lived in the Midlands, I grew ridge cucumbers, I started them in a cold frame and referred to the garden. They were delicious, and I grew more than I needed.
Your kids seem to be really well brought up and are a credit to you and Chris. The African Adventure is a zoo and was fun (last time I was there) but if you get the chance, go to Thrigby which is a bit of a different type of zoo (interesting walkways and stuff las time I was there). There is an afternoon tea double decker in London (as there are river trip afternoon teas). The afternoon tea is a bit ubiquitous over here. Another lovely video and how nice to see the sun (wish it had lasted!). Cucumbers are definitely growable (we have grown previously), but they need a bit of warmth so depending on how the weather has been will probably need to start off in greenhouses. Usual things about pricking them out and removing side shoots and feeding regularly. We put ours out when the weather got warmer (grew them in grow bags so just moved the bags). Cucumber sandwiches are of course, an essential for afternoon teas.

Lowestoft is the most Easterly point of United Kingdom, Great Britain and England. During WW2 it was naval headquarters for the east coast convoys at Sparrows Nest. I live South Lowestoft where I was born and bred.
My first car was a Morris Minor (50 years ago). It had serious rust problems round the rear suspension spring shackles, so test the area with a pointy screw-driver...and the 'tick-over' was way too fast.
The smell of England in spring is something that I will always appreciate. It hits you particularly if you travel back home from abroad. If you have a big enough garden as it can be smelly get an old bale of last years straw add some horse manure water it in cover and leave for 8 weeks make a pocket fill with good quality compost and plant cucumbers. As the bale composts it provides heat so will grow cucumber squash or butternut squash. Remember to water well.

@@DaydreamersBarn you can find these explained better on line under straw bale gardening and no dig gardening. I put two bales to butternut squash ended up bed bound after the first month. At the end of the season the plants had sprawled out everywhere and I had about 25 squash. Luckily we had a summer with intermittent rain.
It’s sad I know but I am aware around 50% own home in uk. A big issue is people buying second homes in holiday locations like fishing villages. Pricing locals out the market. Are applications open for The day dreamers barn conducted tours open? Great video

👍. Not far from us guys we're in Ipswich and often take a run up the coast . Parts are not too hard to get for the Minor I believe even in the States. Morris Minors were from back in the day when I could open the bonnet of a car and know what stuff was! Other options for taking back to the States if a Morrie you fancy does not crop up include the lovely 2 seater Austin Healey Sprite, Hillman Imps which used to race a lot against Mini Coopers back in the day, and even the Citroen 2 CV, which in the early variants did not have the complexity and sophistication of the Morrie! ;-) They did not have for instance fancy handles to wind down the windows, but just propped them open, kind of. All of them have structural integrity somewhat inferior to a carboard shoe box, if you hit an SUV on the interstate though. My choice would be the Sprite, if I could find a suitable one.

@@DaydreamersBarn My mate who was an ex-sergent in REME, and went on to Uni to finish his engineering degree after finishing, was emigrating to New Zeland in the late 60's, bought a Sprite, and totally rebuilt it to take it with him, as cars there at the time cost a fortune, and rebuilds were a way of life, including re-welding the whole of the subframe. The good news is that you can do that with those old cars! That will keep Chris out of mischief whilst you get on with the cooking, Jess! Seriously though, I would trailer those old cars on the highway, as they provide zero protection. Great at the meets, or on the back roads though!
When I was small we had a Morris Traveller in duck egg blue and we all loved it! Have you been on any public transport yet, double deckers, trams, trains? All good ways of seeing both urban and countryside without having to concentrate on the road. Hope you can get to see some places further north, The peak District, Lake District, Northumberland, Scotland etc before you go home. So much May blossom(Hawthorn) flowering on your drive. Very early this year! Maybe you could have a day out at one of the heritage railways and travel behind a steam engine if any of you like trains?

You drove along Tom Crisp Way. It is named after a local man, Thomas Crisp 1876-1917. He was awarded the VC for attacking a German U-boat in the North Sea in a small naval coastal patrol boat. He was killed in the action.

Great video. Morris Minor looked pretty good, tho you need to get underneath and check the chassis and floor for corrosion. You encountered a number roundabouts. Do you have them in the States?
Homeownership question. Approx 50% of adults in UK own their own home. 28% outright and 22% with a mortgage. The highest proportion or outright ownership is in Wales with 36% having no mortgage. In 2016, 63% owned their own home so overall homeownership is on the decline due to the exponential rises in property prices.

Another commenter has rightly pointed out the significance of Lowestoft Ness. It is the most easterly point of England, Great Britain, and the UK. One of our most distinguished composers of the 20th century, Benjamin Britten, came I think from Lowestoft. He wrote much about the sea. He established an opera house further down the coast at Aldeburgh. A famous owner of a Morris Minor was our Archbishop of Canterbury in the 1960s, Michael Ramsey. In spite of being the most senior non-Royal in this country in the Order of Precedence, he didn't think a churchman should have an ostentatious car, so he went about in a Morris Minor! There it would be, parked outside 10 Downing Street...
Heyyy, you just shot past the end of my road! You could have stopped off for a cuppa :) And you needed a guide to Lowestoft…..you needed the south side of the river for the best beaches. The sort that are for typical visitors. The north side is mostly commercial.
About 25% are owned outright 25% are mortgaged so about half of the housing stock is owned by the public the rest making up council/housing association/rental market etc etc
The Morris Minor (Morris 1000 or "Moggy/Morry Thou") would be a very good choice. The technology is typical of the 1940s in that it is simple and easy to work on. Also, being from that period, the parts sizes are all in Imperial ("Customary") units so no need to buy a Metric Toolset for it. From 1952 onwards they were fitted with the "A"-Series engine, a Straight 4 SOHC block that is pretty much "Bullet Proof". You have to do something REALLY stupid to wreck an "A"-Series engine! Over 1.6 million Moggies were produced between 1948 and 1971 and they were exported to many parts of The Commonwealth so spare parts are reasonably easy to get hold of, especially for the engine which was in production until, believe it or not, the year 2000. My personal favourite Moggy is the Traveller which is what you might call a "Shooting Brake". The reason for the Traveller's frames being made of wood is simple: The shortage of steel after World War II. It was for this same reason that the original Land Rovers were built with aluminIum (😉) bodies.

I had a Morris when my daughter was young. Each morning I would have to start the car by manually swinging the handle. There was usually a puppy under the car, two year old creating a fuss as we were late for nursery! There was a hole in the roof.....what I would give to have that car now! In our local vintage car showroom, they cost a fortune.

We retired to Lowestoft 6 years ago it’s a slower pace of life up here, unfortunately you chosed the wrong beach the south beach has a loverly prom and sandy beach where the north beach has been left to go and mainly unusable. Never be tempted to go to Africa live it’s a total waste of money, if you fancy a zoo whipsnade in Bedfordshire is the breeding centre part of London zoo
We retired to Lowestoft 6 years ago it’s a slower pace of life up here, unfortunately you chose the wrong beach the south beach has a loverly prom and sandy beach where the north beach has been left to go and mainly unusable had you turned left at the sea wall you would have come to a walkable part of North beach. There are greenhouse cucumbers and there are outdoor cucumbers. It can be difficult to grow greenhouse ones outdoors, they are not so hardy. Morris Minor, that takes me back. The time when cars were very simple and most could repair them. There is something very soothing about the sound of waves crashing.

Hi guys, a couple of things to note - Bluebells are a protected species, it is illegal to pick them, so enjoy looking at them and filming them, you can see them in Bluebell Wood which is in Nene Park, Peterborough, wherever you go don't leave it too long to go there. Wear suitable footwear with all the rain we have had recently and knowing that bluebells are a woodland species it's going to be muddy. Traditional Cornish Pasties, if you get a true traditional pasty in Cornwall be aware that it will be a pasty of two halves, meat and veg in one half, fruit or jam in the other half, with a thick crust around the edge. Cornish Pasties many years ago were made by the miners wives for their lunch, the miners would come up from being underground all morning covered from head to foot in dirt and dust etc, the extra thick crust gave them a way to hold the pasty without getting the dirt on their food, the crust would then be thrown away. As mentioned the pasty was their meal, so as mentioned one half is the meat and veg part of their meal, the fruit/jam half was their pudding/dessert. So don't bite straight in the middle as you'll get both in your mouth at the same time

In the USA you have beautiful scenery but I am guessing that it is difficult to see it unless you have a lot of time to spare. In the UK, you can drive in a different direction every day and within a couple of hundred miles or less, you will have a completely different change of scenery. It is great to see you taking advantage of it. Those old Morris Minors run forever and the maintenance is easy.
Oh, we can not wait to take out on so many adventures when we get back to the us! Much like we are doing here, but I think we're gonna be doing it in our camper. It will be sad to leave because we love exploring everything here. But we know it will have to come to an end sometime in 2025 😢.

15:42 trailers have to display the registration of the vehicle that is towing them. However you must use an additional plate and leave the one on the rear of your vehicle on the vehicle.

I have just seen my cucumber seeds germinate. Four plants are showing today. Only need three plants. These will grow in large pots in the greenhouse. Never tried Growbags with cucumbers only tomatoes.

Back in the 70's I had a few 'sit up and beg' sidevalve Fords, loved 'em. Now got a Moggy Minor because the spares situation is so much more comprehensive, making ownership much more practical.

Britain has half the world's population of bluebells and it is illegal to pick or take the plants from the wild. Here in Sussex the woods are full of them, they are just coming out and will be at their best by the start of May. I am reminded how flat the country side is in the east, hence the U.S. air bases.

Love the Morris Minor! The car I learned to drive on in 1970. It was my Dad's and a four door version 1966 model ('D' registration). He gave me the car a few years later when he got a new one. Drove all the way to Paris and back on holiday using about a gallon of oil (all cars leaked oil then). In a very cold winter the battery wasn't very good so started the engine with the starting handle. I think it was the last British car with a starting handle. Morris Minors produced up until 1972. Much loved because everything was bolted or screwed together so it was easy to repair yourself. The van version was used by The Royal Mail for deliveries.
Neville - I'm not so sure they necessarilyleaked oil, more perhaps those earlier/simpler engines just used more back then. Most cars back then needed regular oil top ups, which today's cars certainly do not. Not to say leaks did not exist but by design back then they merely consumed more oil. Merely a thought point. 👍
@@SynapticGap Oh they definitely leaked oil. Every street where cars parked had a continuous long oil stain about 3 feet out from the kerb. The other thing that surprised me is that tyre technology was very poor. In 1970 our family went on a long car journey to Dorset from Lancashire. 3 of the 4 tyres failed even though they were only 4 years old. Running round locally on short journeys at low speed they were fine. At higher speed over a long journey with a full load they just gave out.

@nevillemason6791 Oh absolutely agree, tyre technology then v now is a universe apart. Performance in terms of grip, Water clearance, reliability has come on beyond belief. Mostly radial tyres in the 60's too. The confidence in tyres now is a given, methinks.

Devon and Cornwall is a lovely part of the country. Ridge (or other outdoor varieties) can easily be grown here although the sort of cucumbers you usually buy in the shops would need to be grown under glass I think.

😮my great uncle had a Morris miner in garage when he past had 3k miles on clock he bought it new in the 50s for he's wife but see never used it stayed in garage for 52 years sold it for funeral cost got 4 k for it and you'll love Cornwall I go to penzance every year my cousin from tennisee nashville loved the place 😉

Bluebells are beautiful. 90% of the world's Bluebells are in the British Isles. An indigenous, woodland plant. I love them and their perfume. In flower at the moment, soon gone.

Americans who haven't travelled seem to stress about roundabouts. I think it's clear from this how safe and efficient they are when used responsibly. Much better than stop signs or traffic lights. I wonder if the concern in the USA is that their drivers lack the discipline to consistently abide by the "give way to the right" rule (left in the USA obviously).

Hello , so happy to hear your planning a Cornwall trip. It's my favourite place I've visited loads of times as a kid. If your going in summer and plan going in the sea praa sands has an amazing beach when the tide is in you can walk out for around half a mile in chest deep water. Cornwall has an amazing coast line Polpero has to be the most picturesque fishing town , love watching your videos
Love Praa Sands, but my favourite beach not just in Cornwall, but the UK, is Hayle.
The dunes are great, and love it when the tide goes out, and leaves these huge pools, and if it's hot, they're great for relaxing in.
Cornwall is very special.

I've occasionally had the same problem with cucumber plants suddenly dying even with greenhouse varieties' in sterile compost. Never been able to work out why so my solution is to plant more than I think I will need so always end up with a glut of them anyway. My brother in law grows outdoor varieties and he swears by 'Marketmore' and never seems to have a problem. I believe they have quite a good resistance to several of the more common diseases and adverse weather conditions.

When I lived in the Midlands, I grew ridge cucumbers, I started them in a cold frame and referred to the garden. They were delicious, and I grew more than I needed.

Your kids seem to be really well brought up and are a credit to you and Chris. The African Adventure is a zoo and was fun (last time I was there) but if you get the chance, go to Thrigby which is a bit of a different type of zoo (interesting walkways and stuff las time I was there). There is an afternoon tea double decker in London (as there are river trip afternoon teas). The afternoon tea is a bit ubiquitous over here. Another lovely video and how nice to see the sun (wish it had lasted!).
Cucumbers are definitely growable (we have grown previously), but they need a bit of warmth so depending on how the weather has been will probably need to start off in greenhouses. Usual things about pricking them out and removing side shoots and feeding regularly. We put ours out when the weather got warmer (grew them in grow bags so just moved the bags). Cucumber sandwiches are of course, an essential for afternoon teas.

Lowestoft is the most Easterly point of United Kingdom, Great Britain and England. During WW2 it was naval headquarters for the east coast convoys at Sparrows Nest. I live South Lowestoft where I was born and bred.

My first car was a Morris Minor (50 years ago). It had serious rust problems round the rear suspension spring shackles, so test the area with a pointy screw-driver...and the 'tick-over' was way too fast.
The Morris Minor - the only car that farts when you change gear!

The smell of England in spring is something that I will always appreciate. It hits you particularly if you travel back home from abroad. If you have a big enough garden as it can be smelly get an old bale of last years straw add some horse manure water it in cover and leave for 8 weeks make a pocket fill with good quality compost and plant cucumbers. As the bale composts it provides heat so will grow cucumber squash or butternut squash. Remember to water well.

@@DaydreamersBarn you can find these explained better on line under straw bale gardening and no dig gardening. I put two bales to butternut squash ended up bed bound after the first month. At the end of the season the plants had sprawled out everywhere and I had about 25 squash. Luckily we had a summer with intermittent rain.

The Traveller (station wagon version) command very high prices these days.

Morris Minors were from back in the day when I could open the bonnet of a car and know what stuff was!
Other options for taking back to the States if a Morrie you fancy does not crop up include the lovely 2 seater Austin Healey Sprite, Hillman Imps which used to race a lot against Mini Coopers back in the day, and even the Citroen 2 CV, which in the early variants did not have the complexity and sophistication of the Morrie! ;-) They did not have for instance fancy handles to wind down the windows, but just propped them open, kind of.
All of them have structural integrity somewhat inferior to a carboard shoe box, if you hit an SUV on the interstate though.
My choice would be the Sprite, if I could find a suitable one.

@@DaydreamersBarn My mate who was an ex-sergent in REME, and went on to Uni to finish his engineering degree after finishing, was emigrating to New Zeland in the late 60's, bought a Sprite, and totally rebuilt it to take it with him, as cars there at the time cost a fortune, and rebuilds were a way of life, including re-welding the whole of the subframe.
The good news is that you can do that with those old cars! That will keep Chris out of mischief whilst you get on with the cooking, Jess!
Seriously though, I would trailer those old cars on the highway, as they provide zero protection.
Great at the meets, or on the back roads though!
When I was small we had a Morris Traveller in duck egg blue and we all loved it! Have you been on any public transport yet, double deckers, trams, trains? All good ways of seeing both urban and countryside without having to concentrate on the road. Hope you can get to see some places further north, The peak District, Lake District, Northumberland, Scotland etc before you go home. So much May blossom(Hawthorn) flowering on your drive. Very early this year! Maybe you could have a day out at one of the heritage railways and travel behind a steam engine if any of you like trains?

You drove along Tom Crisp Way. It is named after a local man, Thomas Crisp 1876-1917. He was awarded the VC for attacking a German U-boat in the North Sea in a small naval coastal patrol boat. He was killed in the action.

Homeownership question. Approx 50% of adults in UK own their own home. 28% outright and 22% with a mortgage. The highest proportion or outright ownership is in Wales with 36% having no mortgage. In 2016, 63% owned their own home so overall homeownership is on the decline due to the exponential rises in property prices.

Another commenter has rightly pointed out the significance of Lowestoft Ness. It is the most easterly point of England, Great Britain, and the UK.
One of our most distinguished composers of the 20th century, Benjamin Britten, came I think from Lowestoft. He wrote much about the sea. He established an opera house further down the coast at Aldeburgh.
A famous owner of a Morris Minor was our Archbishop of Canterbury in the 1960s, Michael Ramsey. In spite of being the most senior non-Royal in this country in the Order of Precedence, he didn't think a churchman should have an ostentatious car, so he went about in a Morris Minor! There it would be, parked outside 10 Downing Street...

The Morris Minor (Morris 1000 or "Moggy/Morry Thou") would be a very good choice.
The technology is typical of the 1940s in that it is simple and easy to work on. Also, being from that period, the parts sizes are all in Imperial ("Customary") units so no need to buy a Metric Toolset for it.
From 1952 onwards they were fitted with the "A"-Series engine, a Straight 4 SOHC block that is pretty much "Bullet Proof". You have to do something REALLY stupid to wreck an "A"-Series engine!
Over 1.6 million Moggies were produced between 1948 and 1971 and they were exported to many parts of The Commonwealth so spare parts are reasonably easy to get hold of, especially for the engine which was in production until, believe it or not, the year 2000.
My personal favourite Moggy is the Traveller which is what you might call a "Shooting Brake". The reason for the Traveller's frames being made of wood is simple: The shortage of steel after World War II. It was for this same reason that the original Land Rovers were built with aluminIum (😉) bodies.

Lowestoft during World War Two was heavily bombed.This was due to the returning German bombers jettison their remaining bombs before heading back.

I had a Morris when my daughter was young. Each morning I would have to start the car by manually swinging the handle. There was usually a puppy under the car, two year old creating a fuss as we were late for nursery! There was a hole in the roof.....what I would give to have that car now! In our local vintage car showroom, they cost a fortune.

We retired to Lowestoft 6 years ago it’s a slower pace of life up here, unfortunately you chosed the wrong beach the south beach has a loverly prom and sandy beach where the north beach has been left to go and mainly unusable. Never be tempted to go to Africa live it’s a total waste of money, if you fancy a zoo whipsnade in Bedfordshire is the breeding centre part of London zoo
