lmfao @@JayN4GO way to go ........thanks for up load .....i for one dont like ft8 ....all my ham freind that do ft8 i gave them a mouse pad for ft8 .........it was 2 sided tape !!!! for chrismas😂😂😂😂
I bought a TL922-a in non working conditions. It was ok, but using it as is would have caused more issues that I could have afford to fix. Anyway, first amp, never owned, never worked one. I gave it to Scott “the amp guy” to mod and get up to par. This video was great for me. Yes, the manual gives “manual type” instructions, but you can’t beat watching a guy going thru the process. It reassures me I tuned the correct way. I watched other videos on tuning an amp, I wanted one about tuning the amp I have. Nothing else out there. This is not a video for the experienced guy, but there are plenty of greenhorns (like me) out there that can benefit from it. So, thanks for taking the time to do it, and for the great explanation all around.
Sorry Can not see what you are doing at all I have this amp The correct way to tune it is Tune on cw both amp And radio Put meter in rf position And leave it there 50 watts or less to start is fine Key radio Dip plate with plate knob Watch right meter plate current Unkey radio key up again Adjust load knob For Max rf output on left meter You will see it will only rise so far Please note there is recommended Starting points for the load knob Consult your manual For 10 meters start load At 3 Please also note Max drive input for this amp Is 135 I hope I helped Take all confusion out of the tuning Thanks
Great video, Jay. Are you using a relay between TL922 PTT and radio?
Great question Paul ! Yes I have a buffer between them. I forgot to mention that.
The 922 is beautiful … I want one
Thanks man. I like it a lot. Tubes are still cheap ish. I loaf at 8-900watts

Dudes a pro.
Maybe a pro at toiletries
Who is your electrician? Looks like a nice 220V install.
Thanks man. His name is Ian
Nice video-Thanks
Thanks Paul
Great video! do I really need an external antenna tuner for the tl-922? /thanks
If you antennas are less than 2.1 swr , then you don’t need a tuner. All of mine are 1.5:1 so I never use the tuner.
Nope you do
Not need antenna tuner
If your antenna is already tuned for the band you are using
I don't even use a watt meter
Look at my comment above
Sorry
Can not see what you are doing at all
I have this amp
The correct way to tune it is
Tune on cw both amp
And radio
Put meter in rf position
And leave it there
50 watts or less to start is fine
Key radio
Dip plate with plate knob
Watch right meter plate current
Unkey radio key up again
Adjust load knob
For Max rf output on left meter
You will see it will only rise so far
Please note there is recommended
Starting points for the load knob
Consult your manual
For 10 meters start load
At 3
Please also note
Max drive input for this amp
Is 135
I hope I helped
Take all confusion out of the tuning
Thanks
When you are ready to go-to ssb just switch radio and amp to ssb
Thanks Jeff. Here’s a better video of what I do.
