It's probably one of the only mutual relationships in the show. Dennis likes to flaunt his knowledge and ideas to anyone that will listen and agree with how smart he is. Charlie thinks almost every idea (good or bad) is a good idea. Charlie boost Dennis ego by letting Dennis feel superior by knowing more than Charlie, and Dennis will often times genuinely try to teach Charlie things.
@@whichDudeIt’s also a recurring theme on the show for Charlie to be the closest thing to a morality pet the rest of the Gang has. Don’t get me wrong, Charlie’s still an asshole, just like the rest of the Gang. They’re toxic to him on many occasions, too. However, he’s still the only member of the Gang any of them ever feel like putting in genuine effort to be kind and patient with every now and then.
Yeah he really seems to like care for Charlie to the point he has taken the time to understand how his weird mind functions and then works with it lol

I love that out of all the characters in the show, Charlie has the best dynamic with any one member of the main cast. He just gets along the best with everyone, as long as they're not in a group to point out his flaws

Dee is kinda the opposite. They'll leave her for dead if it comes to it. They actually did it a couple of times.
Dennis and Charlie getting high together is a favourite moment for sure. I love how Dennis can be friendly towards him even if the reason could be Charlie is the only person in the gang Dennis isn't threatened by at all.

Not only does Charlie have specific chemistry with each gang member, but Dennis feels the most authentic with him because they understand each other’s mentality I think
Charlie is very disarming, and Dennis feels like he can be 100% honest with him I think. Dennis talking to Charlie is like me talkin to my car.

There were times where Charlie was just as manipulative as the rest (he is part of the gang for a reason, after all), but he's definitely the least psychopathic in comparison, I agree.

What this show does so great that many other sitcoms don’t is each character has a relationship with each other and there’s no pairing where they just feel awkward cause the others aren’t around. I don’t like how in a lot of comedy ensemble show there are some characters who not really interact ever outside of with the whole group there.
Like Kramer and Elaine or Phoebe and Ross.
As much as I agree with you on how great it is to have every main character have an interesting and unique relationship with each other, I have to say that the second scenario is a lot more accurate to real life friend groups 😅.

Thanks for making me realize that Charlie and Dennis are my favourite duo on the show. Every one of their interactions are phenomenal. Wish it had included the “fire in the trailer” moment, the “police station sketch” moment, and when Charlie tells Dennis to throw up the apple seeds.
Ngl I was disappointed the "Bad Dad" scene was put in, but not the part where Charlie literally mimics Dennis' body language. Mac says something like "there's a war between men and women?!" And Dennis says "yeah bro. It's been happening since the beginning of time bro" and does this stupid shoulder roll and arm gesture, which Charlie copies as he's talking lmao

Everyone is saying that Dennis is the kindest to Charlie in the Gang, and I’m just like, of course, he is. They all still treat him like garbage, too, but if you watch the series long enough, it becomes increasingly obvious that Charlie is the closest thing to a morality pet the rest of the gang has.
It seems that way for a decade until he finally gets the waitress, the sole purpose of his existence, then immediately goes about treating her like garbage. Then you realize he's shit like the rest of them.

They started shooting this show as friends in college on a crappy home movie camera. The character development and relationships are among the best you’ll ever see. You could write a whole book on the genius of these cameos
