      I think a lot of rappers need to step up as far as showmanship in their live performances, Kendrick consistently delivers fantastic, energetic, creative, through-provoking performances. Why can’t that be the new normal? Why tf not? I want the level of performance Kendrick gives to become the norm for rappers. Sadly I’ve been to hundreds of rap shows and a lot of rappers do the bare minimum on stage. They just don’t value stagecraft. Some rappers do. A lot DONT. 😐

    Greatest halftime performance of my lifetime . Just unbelievable . So glad we all go to see Dre perform with the artists he basically made . Especially after he was in the hospital and all that. Worry we’ll lose him before we know it and this will be there forever to come back to. Just amazing performance

    Rappers in the halftime show will become a staple. The stage presence and captivity all of them drew was incredible. It’s a shame we’re just now getting the first rap performance at the Super Bowl, its been overdue

    • @nameisamine
      @nameisamine 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      A lot of rappers actually lack the creativity, charisma, showmanship, and stagecraft to deliver immaculate Super Bowl halftime shows solo. Some rappers do, most don’t. The rappers in the industry who genuinely excel in stagecraft are few and far between... Rappers like Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West, Eminem, Childish Gambino, Tyler the Creator are outliers, not the norm.

    • @nameisamine
      @nameisamine 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@CheeseyMilkshakes this is the inconvenient truth, and I’ve literally been to HUNDREDS of rap shows and festivals . Where’s the rapper with the showmanship of a Michael Jackson or Freddie Mercury? Kanye West is certainly in that club? I think he should headline the next SuperBowl. A lot of legends excel at performing, but when we’re talking rappers under age 35 it’s much slimmer pickings. My list of rappers that perform with high enough levels of creativity, stagecraft and showmanship to pull off a top-10-ranking SuperBowl halftime show AND have the hits and the mass multi-generational appeal to fill it out? That IS NOT a long list my guy. And I’m singling out male rappers specifically because the *top female rappers* have pop crossover appeal and are way more polished than their male counterparts, often singing, rapping and dancing and with great staging in full glam. They don’t turn up in jeans and a hoodie.

    • @LegendaryMamba24

      @@nameisamine lots of artists don’t have the performance ability of Michael Jackson. You’re being unfairly biased against rappers

    • @nameisamine
      @nameisamine 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@LegendaryMamba24 you’re completely right, I’m being biased against *male* rappers, I should clarify that, bc the top female rap acts would understand they need to give more: They’ll rap, sing, dance choreography, have eye catching costume design. The amount of times I’ve seen a male rapper rock up to the show in jeans and hoodie and just jump around aimlessly…it’s the bare minimum. And that just doesn’t cut it for the SuperBowl. Even King Eminem wore jeans and a hoodie to the SuperBowl, whereas other Super Bowl acts would have some custom made stage show outfits with multiple costume changes for their set. Rappers just don’t make that same kind of commitment to their performances. Some do. Most don’t.
      Just admit the standard for showmanship and stagecraft among (male) rappers is low. It’s actually so low that the the rappers who DO make the extra effort stand out and shine bright.

    “Eve After Dark” is the club where Dr. Dre started at. It’s on Avalon Blvd & El Segundo!!

    I've been fortunate enough to be a huge fan of hip hop since the 80s and to see this is a huge milestone in its evolution and a great sign of how healthy and vibrant it still is as an art form and part of the culture.
    For me, that little piano riff from I Ain't Mad At Ya hit hardest out of the whole show. That was visceral and timely and unexpected. But I absolutely loved it all, start to finish.

    Your easter eggs, the board on the stage features 50 Cent.. but no one noticed it, my theory is that the "Eve After Dark" could be a homage to Eve, a rapper who had Dre's help a little when she started.. Also this performance won 2 Emmy awards (it being the first show to win) + it's reached 168 million views in 1 year lol... you looked like you had a blast listening/watching this - it's possibly the greatest show they've ever had !

    Lol and the NFL told Snoop Dogg that he couldn’t wear a black bandanna in his back pocket to represent the Crips. So what did he do? He wore the whole damn colors as his outfit! And cryp walked too lol.
    They told Eminem not to take a knee, what did Eminem do he took a knee lol. They didn’t listen to shit! They were like nope. We’re gonna do what we are going to do lol.
    And Snoop Dogg is the only person I know who can literally smoke a blunt in your face during an interview and at the same time be best friends with Martha Stewart.
    Kendricks performance was insane.
    The way that he moves, I loved his moves and he chose the right song, he looked so fly, he was amazing. It was like watching a concert. And they were so synchronized. The whole thing was a damn concert!
    And 50 Cent as a surprise performance was sold out. And FYI Eminem caught half of his performance just so that 50 Cent could perform.
    And another fun fact, Jay Z put this together and Dr. Dre paid money out of his own pocket to make this happen.
