  • Salisbury Cathedral Peregrines adopt a youngster.
On 31 May two peregrines were poisoned at Clee Hill in Shropshire, leaving three orphaned chicks. The RSPB contacted the Cathedral and asked if the would adopt one of the chicks, offering it the chance to be a wild rather than hand reared bird.
The Cathedral was chosen because the nesting area is particularly safe and there was only one chick in the nest - and the nest had the added advantage of have cameras on it, allowing experts to observe the adoption process safely and at (almost) first hand.
The two and a half week old chick was introduced to our falcons on the morning of 7 June. This is his story...

Wonderful idea. Hope this family does raise the orphan. Where are the other 2 chicks?
Will be watching and praying for a successful ending.

Quite weird, storks kill their own babies while falcons adopt strangers ones

Very sad that someone could poison these lovely birds of prey.

People usually try poisoning pigeons, it ends up poisoning the falcons as well if they eat them.

I don't understand all the pidgeon hatred when all they're trying to do is survive. People brought them to the cities, now they have to deal with it! Humans are the real disgusting parasites. I love both pidgies and raptors, all birds deserve equal love and respect. They're all amazing in their own way.

In the previous video, the parents laid five eggs. Among the five eggs, only one egg was hatched?
