👍👍 Mikey - I'm definitely behind you from halfway around the globe. I've been flying hobby/toy/recreational drones since 2016 and RC aircraft for years and years before that. In my slightly younger days I also flew real airplanes for fun as a Private Pilot and aircraft owner. IMO the FAA, in the case of consumer RC aircraft and hobby/toy drones, is totally out of control. While many countries have been adopting more and more restrictive drone laws in 2023-2024 for 'safety', the FAA's reason has nothing to do with safety. Instead the FAA wants hobbyists/kids of all ages out of the lucrative ground-level to 500 feet airspace for commercial drone delivery, services, etc. This Kim Jong-Un style overregulation is purely evil. I'm a Private pilot and a Part 107 operator and I Love Mikey!! And know this: The FAA 100% has an End-Game to flush all hobbyists and small Part 107 operators out of the sky by end of year 2029. Remote-ID is an interim step. Soon, the FAA will require ADS-B modules at a cost of $2,300 a drone be installed. These units will weigh 10 times the weight of an Remote-ID module and allows the drones to flown on flight plans and tracked by ATC directly. What that means is that only the largest commercial drones being flown by Amazon, agribusiness, etc will have the money and hefty drones to accommodate the ADS-B modules. They'll be a lot of consolidation of the small 107 operations, and the largest players will be the very few that survive. The FAA is full of bureaucrats with no understanding of what they're tasked with regulating - just ask Trent Palmer. Keep fighting the fight!

What is the rule on flying too close to a building? I encountered something in my part 107 about that, like you can't be within 200m was it, but then other things state as a part 107 if you're within 50 feet of a structure you can fly 400 feet above it or something right? I can't find anything about it google searching it.

Of course there should be rules but we all know that everybody that has flown a drone has broken them. In fact, a well-known Part 107 drone pilot recently had a post where he was clearly harassing strangers on purpose to see if it would bother them. I believe he took that video down because he was getting called out on it in the comments. I can’t wait to hear who it was that sent the text you were talking about. Nobody got hurt and clearly $182,000 is excessive. 👍🏻

The FAA is pissed cause they can’t make more money off “Drone’s” they only make $175 when you take the test. They only make $5 bucks when you have to register a drone either for work or over 250 grams…so this comes down to the bureaucrats are just unhappy because they’re not making more money. No BS, I was deployed in Afghanistan one of our guys had one of the first minis. We had a C130 fly in to do a cargo drop for us on a smaller base north of Bogram, long story short he flew it into the 130…guess what it did to the giant C130…Nothing…not a EFF’N, It destroyed the drone. We told the fight engineer and he shrugged his shoulders and said “sucks to be you” and that was it. 250 gram drones are not a threat. I get it don’t break the rules but “G damn” let be real about this 🐂💩! The FAA is the real problem.

But you should setup a fund that is for your legal fees aside from your patreon/YT money. I know a lot of people in the hobby would happily throw you cash. With your personality you could do anything on TH-cam and people would still love to watch you! Now the FAA is fining you $184,000??? Jeez, how many people did you kill with your drone? NONE! You need a 107 to do ANYTHING even related to profit - WHY the hell is that? If you don’t have a 107 license and you make money on TH-cam by posting videos, use pictures you take of a house for sale for a real estate person, etc., the FAA can come after you - even if you were flying completely within regulations. Why is that? Is it because the FAA wants to make money from selling 107 licenses? Probably. Now there is an idiot in congress trying to outlaw ALL DJI drones - probably the safest/best drones available. It is all a result of years of demonization of drones to the public. I have taken and passed all the required FAA courses, yet I’m still nervous/scared to fly over my own property - and I live outside of a small town in the Ozarks of Missouri. He deserves everything that’s coming his way. The FAA tried to educate Mikey on what regs and procedures he was flagrantly breaking and he didn’t care. Only reason he cares now is that he’s suffering the consequences of his actions. The FAA can be an absolute chore, but Mikey straight up showed himself breaking regs repeatedly. This sort of behavior would end up in a tragic NTSB report with a body count if he were a real pilot.

With regards the ongoing civil investigation , nothings proved until it is ! A lot of what you see is Mikey acting, he is a great confident pilot, although some risks may have or may have not been taken Sub 250g drones haven’t killed anyone, whatever happens in this case will affect each everyone of us in the hobby, yes we should all fly safely . The FAA is pissed cause they can’t make more money off “Drone’s” they only make $175 when you take the test. They only make $5 bucks when you have to register a drone either for work or over 250 grams…so this comes down to the bureaucrats are just unhappy because they’re not making more money.
No BS, I was deployed in Afghanistan one of our guys had one of the first minis. We had a C130 fly in to do a cargo drop for us on a smaller base north of Bogram, long story short he flew it into the 130…guess what it did to the giant C130…Nothing…not a EFF’N, It destroyed the drone.
We told the fight engineer and he shrugged his shoulders and said “sucks to be you” and that was it. 250 gram drones are not a threat. I get it don’t break the rules but “G damn” let be real about this 🐂💩!

But you should setup a fund that is for your legal fees aside from your patreon/YT money. I know a lot of people in the hobby would happily throw you cash. First of all - I LOVE you Mikey! You are a great drone pilot and definitely the most entertaining to watch. With your personality you could do anything on TH-cam and people would still love to watch you! Now the FAA is fining you $184,000??? Jeez, how many people did you kill with your drone? NONE! I think all drone pilots know that we are “thorns in the side” of the FAA. You need a 107 to do ANYTHING even related to profit - WHY the hell is that? If you don’t have a 107 license and you make money on TH-cam by posting videos, use pictures you take of a house for sale for a real estate person, etc., the FAA can come after you - even if you were flying completely within regulations. Why is that? Is it because the FAA wants to make money from selling 107 licenses? Probably. Now there is an idiot in congress trying to outlaw ALL DJI drones - probably the safest/best drones available. It is all a result of years of demonization of drones to the public. I have taken and passed all the required FAA courses, yet I’m still nervous/scared to fly over my own property - and I live outside of a small town in the Ozarks of Missouri. Drone “regulations” will ONLY increase in the future, making it more and more difficult/impossible for ALL drone pilots to do anything. The overall goal is to outlaw drones in the US - period. The FAA is obviously using Mikey as a scapegoat to help them achieve this goal…

He deserves everything that’s coming his way. The FAA tried to educate Mikey on what regs and procedures he was flagrantly breaking and he didn’t care. Only reason he cares now is that he’s suffering the consequences of his actions.
The FAA can be an absolute chore, but Mikey straight up showed himself breaking regs repeatedly. This sort of behavior would end up in a tragic NTSB report with a body count if he were a real pilot.

I see a lot of the hate comments posted earlier have gone, and rightly so, remember Mikey is just an ordinary person the same as you and me and please know he has feelings and has battled overcome many demons to do what he’s doing today.
With regards the ongoing civil investigation , nothings proved until it is ! A lot of what you see is Mikey acting, he is a great confident pilot, although some risks may have or may have not been taken Sub 250g drones haven’t killed anyone, whatever happens in this case will affect each everyone of us in the hobby, yes we should all fly safely . I hope your justice system gives you the opportunity to fight this, without being persecuted , the previous amount of fines that can be made against a person on limited income is just crazy, unjust ,unfair.
