I just realized that Heneral Luna's tactic on war against Americans has been effective and succeeded in today's Taliban's war with the Americans in Afghanistan. What a brilliant general. If only he was not murdered by traitors.
But you have to consider that both conflicts were in different situation. The U.S now and U.S. before are different, and I doubt we can even win an attrition war without support and experience like how the talibans have been supported and geared by both superpowers.
It is hard to find a person who's willing to sacrifice himself for the benefit of the many. Luna will always be the real hero for me. He is indeed a hero.

The fact that I'm not the only one who's watching this during quarantine. This only proves that curiosity about Philippine History is really worth knowing for. And boredom. I hope other teens like me appreciate our own country more than other places. I have nothing against them and I have full respect. Theres no doubt how amazing John Arcilla’s portrayal of Heneral Luna is. He was in theater and started acting at a very young age. And other actors/actresses were amazing as well. But, we forget to appreciate how good it is, how realistic it looks with the help of the Director and People behind the camera. Everyone did a very great job on this movie! Sulit two hours mo, or maybe kulang pa nga.

I remember I was in college when this was released, and we were encouraged to watch it since they gave a student discount in this movie. I kinda forget the whole storyline, but I will never forget how I felt that after I watched this. Everyone in the cinema was stunned silent and gave a round of applause at the end of it. It was disappointing that some cinemas didn't release it (due to profit I guess). It is very rare for philippine cinematography to have such great quality as this.👌 Releasing the full movie here in youtube is very generous for the Studio. For Jerrold Tarog and his team, thank you so much, I will be rewatching this.
Agreed! Though, this was released when I was in Grade 5. Most of the sexual scenes had to be skipped, but hilariously not the gorey ones. I remember when me and my classmates just sat in front of our teacher's computer, watching the movie. Even if it was for school, it was still a fun watch and one of the best childhood memories I'll ever have. Glad to see I'm not the only one here who's still rewatching this masterpiece after several years! :D

I've watched a LOT of K-Dramas and I always wonder how does it feel watching your old country. Whether its '90s, early 1900's, 1800's or even LONGER than that range. GMA already did a series with 'history, tradition & culture of the Philippines' but it was just a 'highlight', the series didn't focus to such genre. Series: My Love From The Star, Philippine Adaptation. (oh, 'di pa talaga masasabing ATIN.)

What good would an isolated and starving fortress do if the rest of the country had fallen under foreign control. Most generals had titles but no matching skills. Those take time to develop Then we did not have the equipment needed to do battle on even roughly equal terms. There were many Filipinos who were highly motivated. But wars are not won only on inspiration . You also need trained, disciplined troops with good leadership and effective strategies. Our people were up against a much more organized, trained and experienced army that had learned to fight in relatively modern ways during the USA Civil War of the 1860s and which had successfully fought the guerillas of the native Indian tribes, chasing them down and killing off most of them between 1865 and 1900.

Theres no doubt how amazing John Arcilla’s portrayal of Heneral Luna is. He was in theater and started acting at a very young age. And other actors/actresses were amazing as well. I remember I was in college when this was released, and we were encouraged to watch it since they gave a student discount in this movie. I kinda forget the whole storyline, but I will never forget how I felt that after I watched this. Everyone in the cinema was stunned silent and gave a round of applause at the end of it. It was disappointing that some cinemas didn't release it (due to profit I guess). It is very rare for philippine cinematography to have such great quality as this.👌 Releasing the full movie here in youtube is very generous for the Studio. For Jerrold Tarog and his team, thank you so much, I will be rewatching this.
Agreed! Though, this was released when I was in Grade 5. Most of the sexual scenes had to be skipped, but hilariously not the gorey ones. I remember when me and my classmates just sat in front of our teacher's computer, watching the movie. Even if it was for school, it was still a fun watch and one of the best childhood memories I'll ever have. Glad to see I'm not the only one here who's still rewatching this masterpiece after several years! :D

I've watched a LOT of K-Dramas and I always wonder how does it feel watching your old country. Whether its '90s, early 1900's, 1800's or even LONGER than that range. GMA already did a series with 'history, tradition & culture of the Philippines' but it was just a 'highlight', the series didn't focus to such genre.

I've watched this 10 times and I never found it boring. It gives knowledge and flash back history of a good general who betrayed by his countymen.. it was a shamed of us Filipinos who idolizing and never fight for the country for the peace and freedom.
I was in loved with Philippines history books stories. Because it satisfied my obsession sa mga tragic ending. Nakak inis lang malaman na sariling pilipino din talaga ang mag papahamak sa atin. This is still existing until today ha. Hay nako.
