Chris Montez had, at best, a modest vocal talent. It's surprising to me that he achieved the hits he had. That said, I always liked his voice - modest or not. He wasn't challenging to listen to, but I didn't purchase his records when they were being played on the radio. I don't remember ever actually looking at his 45's when they were in the record stores, but now that you've provided pictures of them, I see that Herb Alpert was his producer - something I didn't know. Alpert wouldn't have put his faith (and money) behind someone who he didn't think had talent - and being on A&M Records was no small deal, either. Thanks, Sonny. I haven't heard either of these records in decades. Good listening.
Basically, I felt the same...after Let's Dance in 1962, I was expecting bigger things from Chris. You know, finding good songs to post on my channel is getting harder everyday...TH-cam seems to block most of the best songs. Even some of the ones I have posted are blocked from further posts since I used them.
@@total.strangerA&M Records recorded mostly "easy listening" artists. Their biggest success was probably the Carpenters, and their hardest rocker was probably Joe Cocker. Otherwise, besides Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass, their main output was Sergio Mendes & Brazil 66 or 77 and the Sandpipers.😊👍👍
@@williambilyeu9801 They also had The Merry-Go-Round (Emitt Rhodes, RIP) and We Five ("You Were On My Mind"). Neither were very hard in their musical approach. There's nothing wrong with easier listening of any musical genre - and A&M had a very good roster.👍Thanks for your reply, 9801 - pretty amazing after 5 years. Isn't the internet a miracle?
@@total.stranger I remember We Five, but I don't recall the other group you mentioned. I liked A&M Records and have several of their records. The Carpenters and Joe Cocker were probably my favorites. 😊👍👍

I always liked the way Chris Montez sang, his voice sounds so naturan and sincere. I was twenty when this song was released, and it brings to me so many nice remembrances of my youth, now long gone. For me the record is still worth to listen and enjoy.
This is a nice version of Call Me (which seemed bigger than #22) but I recently discovered the Petula Clark version and she really nails it, even if it got no US airplay...
Easy listening from 1966.

nice sixties music growing up so simple yet nice to listen to!
"The More I See You" by Chris Montez was my wedding song. I always loved the slower version by Dick Haymes (1945ish) too. Great song, great words.

Tao linda de se ouvir em 2024. Que som gostoso❤
I was twenty when these songs were released. They bring to me so many happy remembrances of youth. Nice to listen again and enjoy them.
Both of these songs would be awesome as a soundtrack in the movie "The Apartment" starring Jack lemmon, Shirley MacLaine and Fred MacMurray
Lovely songs!

Tony Hatch, the guy who wrote 'Call Me', was Petula Clark's producer.
I still like Chris' version much, much better though.
