    Very cool idea of a quad projector. The one thing I didn't see you do is aligning the low beams and high beams. You've installed an extra projector, but I did not see you align it with the other projector before putting the headlight back together.
    Also I highly recommend upgrading to evox r2 if you go through the trouble of opening up the permeseal lens.

    I have a 2001 525i built 10/2000 (just turned 100K miles) and I love my car just about as much as you love yours. Watching your videos reminded me of that fact. I've tried to be mindful of protecting as much of the electrical wiring (with additional electrical tape or plastic conduit) and replacing rubber/plastic parts that have been degraded from the heat of the engine or UV.
    I like to clean the underbody and tire wells with Tire and rim cleaner and use Simply Green(aircraft electrical safe) for cleaning the engine. I live in Florida and the sun has finally broken down the rubber/plastic trim lining the front and rear windscreens. I need to replace my oil pan gasket and have put it off for as long as I could given I'm not losing but 10 or 20 ml of oil in a month.
    I had purchase the rheingold BMW diagnostic software after rebuilding my ABS module only to continue to get the trifecta faults of the ABS/Brake/DSC. (The diagnostic software gave me certainty on the cause of that problem. My driver's rear ABS sensor had gone bad after being replaced 3 years earlier and testing the voltage/resistance through the ABS module 48-pin ? plug did not produce reliable readings. That rear driver's ABS sensor produces the speedometer and odometer readings. If I didn't have the option of ABS/DSC and didn't know how fast I was going, driving my car did not feel safe.)
    Love you videos, again. I think I'm going to do some videos about what I learned and what mistakes I made while attempting various repairs.

    Brilliant idea with that old Hella projector lens! absolutely BRILLIANT...but how about the distance from the high beam light source to the lens so as to give this a proper optical performance...One might to duplicate the distance by measuring the correspondent distance inside the new morimoto projector unit and then bend, cut what have you, the legs on that old hella lens holder to duplicate the morimoto optic as good as can be done "eyeballing". But what I missed was a performance test to show that the "new high beam" does what its supposed to!

    • @TheMomusCollection
      @TheMomusCollection  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The performance was not so good. It was mostly just for the look! Living and driving in the city and lit up highways, I was never able to have them on.

    Great video. Getting ready to do this same thing to my 2001 facelifted 530i that i just converted to LED. But when you switch the high beam/DRL the LED in the reflector is obnoxiously too bright. Even when the daytime running lights are on. And at dusk it completely washes out the angel eyes. So i have to do this projector upgrade. Thanks for posting this.

    • @TheMomusCollection
      @TheMomusCollection  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, the method shown in our video here, leads to a projector install from decorational purposes. It was purely for the look of a second lens. For a true quad projector setup, a second projector should be bought and installed, such as an Evo-x R. Good luck!

    Hi mate!
    I followed your thread on the e39-forum. Really nice what you did with your e39 ;-)
    Your headlight mod is really nice, but you could have get an iris shroud instead of the black plate. That would look 100% original, and it looks much better than oem with non projector high beam (in photoshop :-) )
    I already retrofitted Hella Evox-R G4 projectors last year, but I'm thinking of putting an Hella Evox-R G5 projector instead of highbeam.
    Then I have Quadxenon and it looks completely original with iris shroud.
    Let's see what happens.
    In the e46-forum the first person did that headlight mod with quad lenses in 2008 and the car looks completely different (now I know why BMW did that for my BMW F10 ^-^)

    • @TheMomusCollection
      @TheMomusCollection  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Atlin!
      Thanks for the kind words! This iris shroud would have made it more oem indeed, maybe something for next season? ;) The e46 community really does seem more open to these kind of mods, habe not seen many e39’s with quad projectors around yet. The Evox-R G5’s would indeed make a great upgrade.
      Good luck with your build and let me know how it goes!

    Hey Rolf, I already asked you in the e39 forum but apparently you weren't there yet :) didn't you have any problems with the TÜV because of the highbeams lenses? I really love it and I think I am going to try it with my headlights too. What did you use for the black background behind the lenses?

    • @TheMomusCollection
      @TheMomusCollection  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey man! Imma answer you right now on the forum ;)

    • @AlternativeDesign100
      @AlternativeDesign100 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd be surprised if the TüV cared about high beam. It's not an essential or rather it's not used when there is oncoming traffic, hence your dipped beam should be correct (so as not to blind others), but not the high beam as that is there to light up anything less any oncoming traffic.

    • @TheMomusCollection
      @TheMomusCollection  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi AlternativeDesign100, interesting theory!

    • @AlternativeDesign100
      @AlternativeDesign100 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I suspect the theory is all the more valid since there is no measure of the high beam either (as there is for correct offset and level of the dipped headlights). However, my understanding is that if they are present, then they must at least work i.e. come on, and in both cases, the modified high beams should pass. E.g. later added foglights must also work 'if present'. Many cars in the past didn't even have foglights... and passed. I would bet on no problems with the TüV.

      The acrylic for the shroud? I think it was about 3mm. As shown in the video, ours did not come apart either. The last year of production E39 headlights were permasealed, you will have to cut them open, with something like a Dremel.
