Your videos have been awesome and helpful for me. I can happily say I can transition from your "applying to PhD" videos to your "after you get in" phd videos because this Fall I will be starting a CS PhD!! Thanks for the tips
Hi Casey, Just wanted to say I love you! I have just binged all your videos and even though I am applying in Europe, your advice and encouragement have been so helpful and inspiring!
Hi Casey, one proposal is required while approaching your potential supervisor for PhD. what should be included in it? P.S: My program is management sciences ,HRM
A research proposal for a PhD application is something different, and I'm afraid I don't have any experience with them (they're not typically required for programs in the U.S.) so I don't have any insight there!
Thank you for replying. Yes, it is needed from students in many countries for the purpose of getting an idea about your Intended area and topic that you want to explore.
I’m a master student of immunology & writing my proposal right now. I’m not much interested in the subject my prof assigned to me to do research on. Since I’m gonna apply for Ph.D programs in the US, should I choose a specific subject now & in my Ph.D continued that? Or master degree is only for preparing students to do research & work with different techniques rather than specialized in a specific field?
What happens if you spend too much time in a PhD program ? Do you typically get 5-7 years max to finish it and if you don’t will you get kicked out or start to pay out of pocket? Sometimes research fails and it can be devastating
Usually (if a program is funded) PhD students are offered a certain number of years of funding, and then whether there is typically funding for more years than that will vary by program. But as for being kicked out, usually there is a requirement for remaining in "good standing" which can mean hitting certain milestones (e.g., passing preliminary exams by a certain time). But all of this will be really different for programs and individual circumstances.

Really appreciate your videos. Watching from Manchester, England and it’s helping me plan for a PHD in nursing
This was very helpful. I’m literally one hour away from my proposal and needed some last minute tips to all I’ve prepared. Thanks
good luck!
I can relate to this. The issue of scope has been a real challenge.

How do I start my dissertation with a lack of supervisor
This is something that you need to talk to your department/program about.

I've seen it both ways! Some people end up doing a similar topic as they did in their masters degree and some don't.
@@ProfessorCaseyFiesler Thank you very much.
