Just a bit of trivia about "The Michigan, I don't know if you are interested. But Mike Legg learned how to do this move from Bill Armstrong while the two trained together in London, Ontario. Armstrong actually did it 6 times in the AHL and IHL before Legg did it at the University of Michigan. Plus Armstrong did it two more times after that too. And, Go Leafs Go!!!!!
Cool trick. Ever tried doing it while skating straight at the goal? Go to the left side to draw in the goalie, then dump the puck in the top right corner.
Haha it’s something I’ve thought about but never attempted at full speed. I’ve tried something similar where I come in on the right side and cut to the middle, pick up the puck while spinning around and aiming for top right
I personally think it shouldn't matter too much. I just use standard CCM sticks like the Trigger and Super Tacks. As long as you're slicing the puck while it's moving with momentum, it should work. Just takes practice! -Justin
So I practiced the michigan and got some consistency on my shooting pad but a problem I encountered on the ice is that over time my blade gets wet from snow and ice and I can't gain traction on the puck. Any solutions?
If you haven’t already, I suggest using wax to prevent snow buildup on the blade. You’ll have to consistently keep wiping the snow off throughout a game to keep your blade dry. If you’re trying this when the ice is already roughed up, you’ll have to pull the puck in with more speed so it can ride up onto the blade. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any more questions! :)
how is it that you puck flippers make this look so easy....been trying this for years..still can't get it...anyways i'm going to try it again today as i'm about to go play shinny now....but before game starts of course
Haha just takes a lot of practice. I started last year with hockey tiles during the pandemic and then made some adjustments to make it work on ice. Haven't done it in a game yet though. Good luck to you! - Justin
If you're just practicing on tiles I don't think it's really necessary. I think wax mainly helps on ice because it stops your blade from getting wet, which helps the puck stay on.
@@meatloafgamer1335 I don't think it matters too much, whatever works for you really. I like to have my bottom hand around 1/3 to half way down the stick
If the puck flips onto the stick, it’s probably because you’re pushing up into the puck. You want to try slicing under the puck instead so it ramps onto your blade. Hope that helps!
How do you avoid getting destroyed by a bored/ disgruntled defenseman that is sick of this candy-ass parlor trick and plays your body and/ or slashes your stick as you emerge from behind the net?
Realistically, you can't so you need to be smart when trying to attempt this. The problem is that so many people try this move now that defenders are ready to defend it.
Any Loser who ever attempts this, "DURING A GAME".... should get a MOUTH FULL of LUMBER! Ya...Its FUN Move at Practice, or while Skating in some Girls League, but....REAL MEN, don't do this kind of CRAP in a Game. A CROSS CHECK to the Mouth, and a Few Visits to the DENTIST, should put a STOP this Gay Pride Parade Shit! Pathetic!
I already know how to lol
teach me
Then why are you here
then why are you watching the vid
tip: if your going to tell a lie at least make it a little bit less noticeable
Soooo… why reply ….obviously it’s for other kids that want some tips …
Then why are u here lmao there’s no point in flexing
Nice job man! I'd like to highlight the concept he mentions of "slicing" under the puck. This is the key!
thank you, appreciate it!
Will show this to my daughter. Thank you for your time.
Great demo and explanation!
Thanks, appreciate it!

Very cool, I actually did hear about that! And yes, GO LEAFS GO!
Thanks Justin, this tutorial helped me develop my stone hands
Glad I could help!
Grt job bro
hi thanks for the tutorial, should i do this with or without tape?
Definitely with tape and some wax will help as well :D
thx to you I know how to do it
always happy to help people learn!
very useful, thanks!
appreciate it, no problem!

@@ChineseChums Sounds a bit like a spin-o-rama.
@@StillAliveAndKicking_ yea basically a spinorama michigan
Check out some of Pavel Barber's videos. He does just that. (The Zorro)
I can do the “scoop up” the puck pretty consistently but “dig under” is tougher
Do you think the thinner blade would help ?

sick tutorial
Appreciate it!
How what much curves pattern. Do using P92?
@@Tylermoore210 I use a CCM P29 curve
@@ChineseChums thank
What curve do you use? I find that certain curves work better for this.
I use a P29 CCM curve. I think it probably does make a difference, but I've only ever used this curve.

@@ChineseChums I didn't realize wax prevented the buildup. Thanks for the tip! I got a game tonight and I'll be sure to put some on.

Do you recommend wax doing it off ice?
If you're just practicing on tiles I don't think it's really necessary. I think wax mainly helps on ice because it stops your blade from getting wet, which helps the puck stay on.
@@ChineseChums alright thank you so much also does it matter where you position your hands?

@@ChineseChums Ok thanks for the fast response too!
Just wondering if you are located in the GTA because if so what is the name of this rink?
Yup, this arena is the Cold Fusion Hockey Center in Ajax :)
@@ChineseChums thanks!
I how how to do the original michigan but havn't figured out the svechnikov
This video is for you then! Make sure to slice under the puck and it should ramp onto the blade
@@ChineseChums yeah dude the “slide” is what I hadn’t figured out. I’m gonna work on it this week! Thanks :)
Donno why, but the only time I can catch the puck is when the puck flips and settles on the blade
If the puck flips onto the stick, it’s probably because you’re pushing up into the puck. You want to try slicing under the puck instead so it ramps onto your blade. Hope that helps!
I can't stop for shit but I'm totally pulling that off in a game.
Tire goalie won't ever see it coming. 😄
haha good luck!
Is this your home rink
haha I wish. No its just a training rink in Aurora called Cold Fusion
Does wax help?
Yes for sure wax helps keep the puck on the blade once you get it up
@@ChineseChums ok thanks
